I told ya it would come, it was just a matter of time.
Initiated by John Howard, Abbott and now Turnbull. Thanks to you guys, we take care of other countries problems. Thanks for making us the dumping ground of the world. But what wouldn't the Liberals not do for money?

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-11-...tlist-sites-for-nuclear-waste-storage/6937244

A sad day for us, our children and their children for the next 30,000 years. Because in 50 years from now on no one will use nuclear power plants anymore, but yet we are stuck with this (*)(*)(*)(*) for eternity.....

If there is one possible side to dump this (*)(*)(*)(*), make it Canberra.....
    Regards

Australia originally started being a penal colony - a human waste centre.

Was it really ever going to end any other way in eventually being the planets toilet?

By reading the link, then looking at who said what, then investigating further. To help you out seeing you don't seem to know how to research.

A quote from the link cats posted is
So then you see what he meant by like Sweden and France.

I strongly advocate for a referendum on such an important matter.

    Liberals Bribery Senator Edwards

Liberal South Australian Senator Sean Edwards says 'There is 10 million dollars on the table for a local government council' however to obtain the money that geographic area will have to consent to storing uranium waste!

Senator Edwards says the waste is 'just medium level' and the dump is 'great opportunity' and a 'no brainer'.

Is has a far different definition than shall be.

Is shows it already held, shall be shows it to be collected.

LOL, you numpties. Its OUR waste. The sites being considered are for the single location permenant storage of our own waste - not international waste.

When you spend some more time learning to research, you'll find the ABC deliberatly manufacture their stories to read easily as a left propoganda piece - because they leave out the salient points which would clearly point out the truth, and instead make things ambigious enough so that dolts join the dots and get the 'left' picture.

The stuff coming from France is our waste that was sent over there to be processed and is just returning here like it was always going too.

No wonder the political left in Australia are rabid fanatics, they run around believing invented delusional nonsense.

The same sort of waste is currently being stored here already in various locations, such as hospitals in suburbs.... ALP & Green numpties have zero clue as usual.

ABC ." Resources and Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg said "Previous plans to build the dump in remote locations in the Northern Territory and South Australia were abandoned after fierce opposition."

"Liberal South Australian Senator Sean Edwards says he hopes his home state will be selected to store nuclear waste" Despite fierce opposition from his constituents!

"The Liberals are offering a $10 million sweetener to the local community near the site that is eventually chosen, to spend on infrastructure and other projects" in the hope greed will win through!

"Resources Minister Josh Frydenberg announced on Friday" 'There is 10 million dollars on the table for a local government council'.

"Three proposed sites are located in South Australia - Cortlinye, Pinkawillinie, and Barndioota – while the other options are at Hale in the Northern Territory, Sallys Flat in New South Wales and Oman Ama in Queensland"

You are the dumb nut, you would eat the stuff if your almighty know absolutely everything about everything God's in the Liberal party told you to. If you actually read and comprehended what was written, then replied with a sane answer, not just regurgitate what we also read as well as you did. The difference is I comprehended what was written. He says he wants us to get the financial benefits from the deal as France and Sweden. Not just save us paying France and Sweden. The SAME FINANCIAL BENEFITS. So a thinking person would research to see what those financial benefits were.

And much more importantly, IS IT WORTH IT?

You see once the thing is built, they, politicians, will say that now we have it and as it has the capacity why not offer it to the world, why shouldn't we get the SAME financial benefits as Sweden? Any of them will, Lib or Labor. We cannot trust any of them at the moment and I am afraid for the future too apparently.

The real issue is this IMHO. We can halve our nuclear waste and double the life of our resources. It's a very simple formula.

Put on a pullover, turn out a light, and stop buying so much bloody crap.

The BBC Shanghai left French Port Cherbourg carrying nuclear fuel (to have left by the end of 2015) and is due to reach Australia on November 27.

Nobody panic, maritime services will turn it around.

Australia does not accept radioactive waste produced by other countries, as all countries benefiting from radioactive materials and nuclear power are obligated to make arrangements to safely manage and dispose of their own radioactive waste!

At present, low and intermediate level radioactive waste is stored by Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies at over 100 sites across Australia. Under these arrangements, waste stores are located in both urban and rural areas

You too can have one! Plus $10 Million to spend locally! Sign up today no application refused!

The government will name its preferred site after next year's federal election and the dump is due to be operational by the end of the decade.

So "dumping ground of the world" is a phrase you just made up out of your hatred for those you deem to be 'conservatives'. There is nothing in that link that mentions anything other than storing our own radioactive waste.

Anyway, I think it is good idea to build one or two good secure waste facilities in which to put all our radioactive waste instead of over a hundred different sites all over the country, all in urban areas, which is the case now. It would be better to put it all in a remote spot away from urban areas. God knows Australia has vast areas of trackless arid land. Why not go and build a facility in one of the old nuclear bomb sites?

You have a strange way of reacting to be corrected. Defending a failed position at all costs pretty much is the MO of an extremist fundamentalist.... anyway, to the topic. You only clue to your conspiracy is the opinion of MP Rowan Ramsey who would be happy to have any size of dump in his own electorate. That is a rather weak indicator of some impending Liberal conspiracy to make us the dumping ground of the worlds waste buddy. In truth, his opinion is near meaningless to the topic. It's only included in the story by the ABC to make the scared left get all upset and conspiracy theory = well done on falling in line for the stupid army - you should join a union, they'll love using you!

I'll repeat the FACTS, the facilities being considered are to centralize existing and projected local low level waste - meaning its our own waste. We have been sending the raw used nuclear fuel overseas for decades to be processed into 'waste', which is then returned to us to store here. This is just about making a single secure and safe facility for our own waste, instead of various adhoc storage all over the place as is currently.

No wonder politics in Australia is such a mess, the left is full of mindless trolls who rampage through the streets clueless to anything because theyve never achieved anything real... its all 'media' (a banal profession basically professional students), 'students' (dont want to work so keep 'studying' and smoking weed) and blue collar 'unionists' who are more interested in getting drunk on a Friday arvo and not getting DUI'd on the way home then actual political, business or scientific reality.

Where have I mentioned anything about money? It is you who always sees potential profit in everything, no one else. But do you agree that it is a good idea to put all the waste in one or two remote sites instead of many, many facilities in urban areas?

    arrogant
    ˈarəɡ(ə)nt/
    adjective
having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one's own importance or abilities.
    "he's arrogant and opinionated"
synonyms: haughty, conceited, hubristic, self-important, opinionated, egotistic, full of oneself, superior

I think that every synonym fits as well, you are certainly conceited as clearly demonstrated by the tone of ALL your replies. You are haughty, "a reply of haughty disdain, your clearly demonstrated view of your own self-importance is demonstrated clearly by the fact that you say ...
. What failed position. Why is my position failed, because the almighty Know it all says so, you must be kidding, from what I see here you are in NO position to talk about failed positions my good friend, I am totally unable to see any thought out, sensible, intelligent, adult remarks from you on just about any subject, nothing, NOTHING you have spewed up here has been of any relevance other then to clearly and distinctly demonstrating that you know absolutely anything except the propaganda spread by your Liberal Gods and you are clear evidence that McCarthyism is alive and well. You have demonstrated little here except you show an overly high opinion of yourself.

Once again you demonstrate the tunnel vision so common among conservatives, you have absolutely non idea how to think outside the square, as a matter of fact it appears you actually have disdain for anyone who tries to think outside the square. This attitude which is rife among conservatives (stay safe, do what we did because it worked before, coal is good, pollution is good it means we are producing which means we are making money).

The sad thing is it is innovation that keeps capitalism surviving, it is blue sky research, something the coalition despise that came up with things like wifi etc. Oh the capitalists will use what the thinkers provide for them, but that is about all.

The conservatives rabbit on about how mining will SAVE OUR COUNTRY, create employment. Well lets say a large mine will employ a thousand people, let's say the flow on affect directly employs another 4000 people, lets even say the flow on from the flow on creates another 5000 job equivalents. Then this mine employs less then 1% of the job seekers, at the risk of our water tables, river systems, our lives sometimes even.

Why don't they and you be honest, it is not about job creation like the vomit from their mouths every time a camera or microphone is pointed at them. It's not about wealth creation as most of the wealth is shipped overseas and what stays here stays among the few who are already very wealthy.

It is about economics, it makes the government LOOK GOOD on PAPER. We collect bugger all tax from these ventures yet we provide them with millions in corporate welfare, it's about GDP (note the G is for gross, it's like saying YOU have a certain amount of money to spend because you gross so much, the gross salary is not what YOU GET)

I would honestly say we manufacture 500 to 600 times more stuff then we need. Most average households today have 3 or 4 television sets, not because they NEED them, but because it is easier to have a TV in a few rooms then going to one room and all deciding what to watch, and you can buy relatively cheap televisions from China etc.

Your absolute arrogance is clearly demonstrated here
I will give you one thing, the Coalition know exactly what they are doing.....it's the people who vote for them that do not.

Absolutely I agree, but more than one, if god forbid it an accident did happen well it would be a smaller catastrophe, if any nuclear spill could be called a smaller catastrophe.

It seems crazy that the world messes with this stuff on the surface. Can it be stored safely? If it can be stored safely, then surely it doesn't need to be stored in the outback, where transport would seemingly be the major risk to potential mishaps.

Because Australia is geologically stable the world is looking to us to help out. There may be a nice wind fall in the short term? But at what cost other costs to us? France apparently has a containment area close to its major city? Obviously we have vast amounts of barren land, but under these lands there are underground water supplies. There are many questions to ask. Surely someone can step up and reassure us of its relative safety to the Australian community.

For me at this stage, I'm thinking go hard on renewable energy, it may cost but at least our grandchildren won't be born with 3 eyes and a tail!
