    Oh, who cares, Belarus is just a load of (*)(*)(*)(*)ty swamps and dull cities. Not much of a loss.
    Did somebody expected goverment to sacrifise it's capital city to save....swamps?

    was not Belarus one of the most industrialized republics of USSR?
    swamps, whats about Homel, Pinsk, etc. ? and should BSSR government first somehow approve such actions? by the way Moscow has never been in danger clouds were going toward Finland , Sweden...

    Am I missing something here? From article initially posted by yourself:

    Even if it happened as claimed by Major Grushin, there's nothing of a big surprise in it, nor it's somehow directed towards Belorussians. It was a simple and logical decision- you must prevent it to get to densely populated area no matter the cost, unfortunately.

    The city of Moscow has/had at the time a diverse population, with many different ethnic groups living over there. We're talking about Soviets here, lives of Soviet ppl while you're trying to make some invalid point.
