Bernie absolutely MUST run third party, in a 3 way race vs. Hillary and Trump, the two most hated political figures in America at this time, he would have a real shot.

He's old too, he has nothing to lose, this is his one shot to do it! Once in a lifetime moment to make a stand and take a shot. He won't run again in 4 years. If he gets into a 3 way, his money will continue to roll in, he will out fund raise the other two easily!

It's now or never! If it's really a "REVOLUTION" quitting because you didn't get the nomination, should not be an option.

Since when do you prefer Sanders to Trump?

He could cost the Dems the presidency. That's one reason why he'll never do this.

Maybe he thinks, like me, that he supports his causes better by supporting Clinton than by running as an independent.

It is really too late to get on the ballot of all 50 states to run as an independent. To qualify and you have 50 different laws as to what it takes to get on those states ballots. Some much tougher than others. The deadline to get the petitions, names, etc along with filing fees and all the paperwork are for the following states.

    Texas 38 Electoral Votes, 9 May 2016
    North Carolina 15 EV 9 June 2016
    Illinois 20 EV 27 June 2016
    Indiana 11 EV 30 June 2016
    New Mexico 5 EV 30 June 2016

With no infrastructure or organization on the ground in the above states being read up on how to qualify to get on the ballot in each of those states, to gather the required signatures, that is 89 Electoral votes that Sanders can't qualify for or to be on the ballot of the above states. Work would have needed to get started a while ago.

July deadlines include states with 108 electoral votes. It is highly doubtful if Sanders dropped out of the Democratic nomination process and began to get organized in those states if he could get all the requirements required to gain ballot access in these states also.

Actually, the best thing that could happen for the Democrats at this point would be a Sanders/Clinton or Clinton/Sanders ticket.

Myself, I have been a Bernie supporter from day 1! I quit the Democratic Party years ago because of "YOU LIE" fake asss Mr. Hope & (NO) Change! Hillary DOES NOT support Bernie's causes, she may even be to the right of Trump. Hillary's life story is a narrative of everything Bernie's "revolution" is fighting against, trying to destroy! Bernie or BERN AMERICA TO THE GROUND and start over, that's my attitude.

I think it is too late for him to go 3rd party. He still might be able to get the supers to switch if they are convinced that Clinton cannot win.
Clinton is fading rather fast - she appears to be exhausted.

I don't think he can get ballot access at this point.

He doesn't have enough support to get elected; the best he could hope for is to be the spoiler which would guarantee Trump winning the election which I believe he does not want.

Since he's bargaining from a position of strength, I think he'll cut a deal with the Clinton campaign to modify their platform to get some of the things which are important to him implemented.

Yes, dear, and how does Trump plan to do this? He hasn't said. He says things like Ted Cruz's father helped Oswald kill JFK......ooohhh, sounds like a sensible guy...

The only chance he would have running as a 3rd party candidate is if there were a conservative challenger. Even then, it would be an uphill climb, because it would be hard for him to get to 270. He would need to win a lot of states with 30%-35% of the vote. The House would never pick him so getting to 270 is the only way he can become president. I think the only states he would win are ME, NH, VT, MA, RI, CT, MI, WI, MN, IA, NV, NM, CO, WA, OR, and HI. I don't think he can pick up traditionally blue states like DE or MD. Even NY, NJ, and PA would be a huge stretch. If we gave him NY, NJ, PA, AZ, CA, and OH that brings him to 265. Where else can he win? UT, ID, MT, WY, ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, TX are solidly red. WV and KY are going with the GOP, because of coal. The deep South is either going for the Republican or the African American turnout will deliver it for Clinton. MD, DE, VA, and DC have high African American populations and would be Clinton's strongest states. That leaves MO, IL, and IN. MO and IN lean heavily GOP. IL is Clinton/Obama territory. I really don't see a path. I think he would win states, it would get thrown to the House, and the GOP would select the independent conservative over Trump in this scenario.

It would be quite interesting if Bernie did go third party.
And the hardcore RNC went third(forth) party also.

Fortunately, I think Bernie has better sense of priorities than you do. He knows the most important goal at this juncture is to keep Trump out of the White House and to prevent another conservative majority on the Supreme Court. Unlike you, he is also fully cognizant of the fact that a third-party run by him would most definitely ensure the worst-case scenario would be the end result.

Lastly, I have no doubt that he knows...again unlike yourself...that he doesn't need to be president in order to continue the movement he's started and his efforts on behalf of all Americans, not just the ones in Trump's America.

If Bernie runs 3rd party, no candidate will get 270 electoral votes, and then the Republican House will elect Paul Ryan as President.

    thanks Bernie.

I am a great supporter of Bernie Sanders. Prior to his entering this race, I voted for Obama in 2008. By the 2012 election, Obama had gone full neocon along with the democratic party, so I disavowed them, voting for Jill Stein, of the Green Party. The only reason I'm voting democrat now is because of Sanders. If he drops out, there is no way in hell I will vote for Hillary and will vote for Jill Stein again. If he goes 3rd party, I will vote for him. If he picks Jill Stein as his running mate, all the better.

I hope the socialist Bernie does run as a 3rd Party as it would automatically place Trump in power.

Anything to divide and conquer the Dems---I'm for it.
