Eighteen months ago, NATO was useless, Russia was supposedly our friend, Putin was a genius, Ukraine was a country that could be blackmailed to get a fake investigation of Biden. What a turnaround.
Discussing a current freeze on new oil and gas drilling at a time of inflation, war, and very high gas prices, all the left can do in this thread is the usual "But Trump"! Sorry, but this is on the Biden admin.
The pretense of simplicity in the face of complexity is a vice not a virtue. Armed with this knowledge you are now smarter than many of your peers. You're welcome!
Speaking of simplicity, you voted twice for a guy who publicly admires Putin. That must make you proud today.
What has changed is that the US now has a POTUS who has always seen Putin as a threat to the security of the free world.
Everyone knew Putin was a threat, how that was handled is what was pure genius on Trump's part. Biden is a weak frail old man and that's how the world sees him including Putin. Bravo lefties, this was your best shot and you blew it.
Given the choices, I made the correct one. Biden's a joke, only people aren't laughing, they are dying. The guy that gave the Taliban $40 Billion in arms and lost Afghanistan to 3rd terrorists.
I know you believe that. If Trump had managed to overturn the election, the US would be a 'democracy' like Russia. You would have been so proud.
Producers are ramping up production as fast as they can since its very profitable right now, but obviously no one has resources to double production. That's all you hear because that's all you have in your head. People are trying to tell you US is issuing lot of permits, but you don't hear it because there is no room in your head. There is a temporary delay thanks to an order issued by a Federal judge. As for permits already issued: there has been lots of permits issued.
As article states, the freeze on new permits is indefinite. The permits issued were for old leases that were sold, they are not "new" drilling leases. The only reason Biden issued them was because he was ordered to after being sued , and after he tried to freeze them in his first week in office. This has been told countless times on this thread and others but you keep choosing to ignore facts and spreading misinformation. No one is counting on Biden to do much of anything to help the situation. He's probably texting with Greta now to make sure he's appearing as green as possible.
In March 2012, President Obama called for an end to the $4 billion in oil industry subsidies. Some estimates indicated that the real level of oil industry subsidies is higher, between $10 and $40 billion.9 At the same time, oil company profits benefited when oil prices reached a record of $145 a barrel in 2008. The oil industry subsidies have a long history in the United States. As early as World War I, the government stimulated oil and gas production in order to ensure a domestic supply. https://www.thebalance.com/government-subsidies-definition-farm-oil-export-etc-3305788 ... In 2020 we produced as much oil as we consumed according to the EIA chart I posted. So, if we don't export any oil, we are already energy independent. Why don't you want to stop oil exports if you are so worried about Russian oil or importing oil. We don't need any imports to sustain oil usage in USA. We produce all that we consume.
Here is a counter argument. https://news.yahoo.com/more-us-gas-...-ukraine-or-europe-experts-say-200717731.html First, U.S. fossil fuel production has not been “shut down.” According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, natural gas production increased in 2021 and is forecast to increase further in 2022 and 2023, while U.S. oil production roughly held steady between 2020 and 2021 and is forecast to increase this year and next. That said, historically Republicans have the advantage in 2022 midterms. Our energy imports are also dependent on how much energy we use. Note the meteoric rise in the use of cryptocurrency and AI which require significant amounts of energy to operate will strain our energy resources. If we were to just mine/dig more, we also need more power plants and delivery systems to meet the demand. There is no simple answer.
Yeah, that's exactly what happened. Having Russia does a world flex against other countries while our POTUS is literally ******** his pants is far better.
Have you been keeping track of redistricting? I agree on the oil. But here’s the redistricting I’ve been keeping track of and posting on another site under Perotista’s house and senate forecasts. Redistricting Status as of 24 Feb 2022 PART I STATES COMPLETED REDISTRICTING 44 states have completed their redistricting, 6 more remaining. The democrats have a 17-seat redistricting/gerrymandering edge so far. 12 new Democratic districts added, minus 5 Republican districts. We now have 368 newly drawn districts; 67 districts remain to be redrawn. Out of the 368 newly drawn districts, there are 36 competitive, switchable districts. Currently held by 24 Democrats and 12 Republicans. Safe seats as of 24 Feb 2022, 174 Democratic, 158 Republican. The below listed states are in litigation over their new maps. How these lawsuits turnout will probably change the above listed safe and competitive seats. Listed also is which state legislature drew the maps being challenged. Georgia – Republican legislature Maryland – Democratic legislature Nevada – Democratic legislature New Mexico – Democratic legislature New York – Democratic legislature Texas – Republican legislature _____________________________________________________________________________________ PART II Safe Seat/Competitive seat watch As of 24 Feb, the Democrats have 174 safe seats to 158 safe Republican seats. A 16-seat Democratic advantage. There are 6 states remaining who haven’t completed their redistricting which will change the above. The importance of safe seats is that they let you know how many seats from the competitive column a party must win to gain control of the House. As of today, the democrats need 44 more seats to reach the magic number of 218. The Republicans need 60. It remains to be seen how many safe seats each of the 6 remaining states add to each party’s safe seat column. The 6 remaining states are New Hampshire, Ohio, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri and Wisconsin. In short to remain in control of the House, the Democrats need 44 seats above their safe seat number. The Republicans need 60 above their safe seat number to take control of the house. 36 seats are in the competitive/switchable column, 24 Democratic, 12 Republican along with 67 more districts to be redrawn in which to obtain those seats from. With 44 states in the books, it’s far from a guarantee that the Republicans regain control of the house. With Republican states of Ohio, Florida, Louisiana and Missouri left, those states will certainly narrow the 16-safe seat margin the Democrats have today. There are also the swing states of New Hampshire and Wisconsin left. No Democratic states. I’ll update this as the pending states complete their redistricting.
What hasn't changed is this is Perhaps Bidens greatest foreign policy blunder to date. Your problem is that the majority of Americans agree.
If you think the US should send troops there, fly to Poland and volunteer to fight in Ukraine. When you do that, you'll have enough credibility to claim that Biden made a mistake. Laughable. Now the polls count? There was an election last year and you don't even accept its legitimacy.
I do appreciate the leg work, thanks again, and I don't doubt the possibility, but Biden is still not doing well in the polls, the retirements that are occurring, and I can't dismiss those effect. As you said, there are more factors e.g., the redistricting, and we are still 8 months away.
I have said repeatedly that there is nothing in Ukraine worth an American life. The latest Biden blunder, is him telling the PM that Russia will take over the country in 1 or 2 days and for him to flea the country. He's staying and fighting, Biden would have fled immediately.
