I really like this initiative by Biden to spur domestic production of computer chips. Technology is the lifeblood of innovation and this funding will help decrease reliance on foreign factories. There was a global chip shortage that started in 2020 and Biden's plan to increase production domestically has helped stabilize prices.

In liberal states. More vote buying by the spend and spend some more.

He’s gonna win those states regardless. So obviously not vote buying and perhaps more that it’s where the existing facilities already are

Do you think it is bad for America to revive chip manufacturing? To create jobs in this industry?

good move, but also need to address foreign outsourcing now (especially to India), before it become a huge issue we can't undo easily, it's a national security issue

If it sheds positive light on Biden, then I would guess 'yes'.

This is the type of following that Trump has created/curated.

Please explain the strategy here…? He’s providing more jobs in states that he already will win, so that he will win them by even more…???

Let's say that is partly true. How is that hurting anyone ?? Focus on the positive of this decision and how many Americans will benefit from having these in this country.

    Smart move.

(and let's not be so cynical so as to miss the positives)

Didn't say it is, but you would think putting them where unemployed is high would have made better sense..

I was just making a point... Like the one below;)

    And

Why invest in a state that already has a plant and investors pouring 880 million into that industry, when a new plant in a state with high unemployment rates would have made better sense?

I like the idea. Only question I have is was there a bid to get this money? Normally we'd hear about a deal like this being offered and then companies bidding on it, was that done here also?

Though personally I like my idea better. Encourage manufacturing companies to bring back manufacturing to the US through incentives and disincentives tied to employment and taxes.

For example any company that receives money through our government for R&D research or manufacturing upgrades must employ citizens to manufacture anything that they come up with or make for X amount of years (can vary, make it depend on how much money they receive). Or if they don't employ US citizens they will receive a higher tax burden. Note: All of this only applies to companies who's main corporate office in located in the US. Those that are not, don't get US monies. This could replace subsidies imo.

You might have scored a partisan point if the States in question were swing States, but these are States he'd win no matter what.

We rely too much on foreign chip makers, like Taiwan, so most people would agree this is a a a good investment no matter who suggests it.

What have the Illiberal states done to deserve 1 penny since 2021?

Personally, I'd start moving plants and factories from Confederate states into Union states to prepare for your desired Civil War 2.0...

On topic, seems like another win for America (and thus another loss for MAGA)...

Because the infrastructure is already there in those states. If there is a chip shortage, it makes sense to expand existing facilities.

Lmao.. You just can't see it ;)

There are already investors in Colorado. All this will do is lower profits when it could benefit another state with high unemployment..

I also supported the Trump tariffs (other than his tariffs on natural resources)
