you fail as usual to explain where the government gets the power to force those engaged in second hand intrastate sales to conduct background checks. You also are completely wrong about Halbrook but then again you are always wrong about gun issues

the guy is a complete pawn and a low grade intellect. He was a joke as the US attorney in the ND of Ohio and he's even worse as the head of one of the most inane federal agencies

He accepted a position as director of the ATF. He doesn't realize that that whole organization is what was all of the executive branch agencies shouldn't be allowed to have any effect on law.

And this is also the organization that loves murdering children.

it goes to show that you can graduate with top grades from top schools and still be a complete idiot-or a dishonest pawn. I was happy to vote against that turd when he ran for Ohio AG. He's a hard core anti gun statist

Well something I've been spending a lot of time thinking about are smart people that believe stupid things. I even started a thread to that end. Threads I start don't ever seem to get any traction here probably because they're not hyper partisan and emotionally provocative.

Smart people believe stupid things as in things that are objectively false for social signaling. Intelligence didn't evolve out of competitiveness with the environment. It was socializing that is the Genesis of it. Told having socially quirky viewpoints and by quirky I mean wrong you're differentiating yourself.

So it's not about objectivity it's about social signaling.

So when you hear an academic say something that is profoundly stupid remember these are the people that came up with lobotomies, draptomania, and the idea that biological sex is a social construct.

They're double idiots because they know better.

If you accept the GCA of 1968 then I don't see what the big deal is about requiring an additional 20k sellers or so to get licensed.

I don't accept the GCA of 68. It's unconstitutional under both the tenth and second amendments and the current push is worthless in promoting public safety

The Supreme Court already ruled that federally mandated background checks for gun purchases are constitutional as long as local police are not required to perform the checks (Printz v. United States). This is no longer an issue due to NICS. States can perform additional checks if they so choose.

at a state level yes, there is no tenth amendment issue. bUt the federal government doesn't have the proper power to require people who cannot engage in interstate commerce concerning arms from performing these checks. The biden expansion violates the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986

    https://www.newsweek.com/bidens-gun...cally-change-us-gun-ownership-opinion-1826184

BIden's schemes are pernicious-one of his schemes is to ban high school rifle teams. another is to create a gun registry to facilitate future confiscations

The Biden administration sells the need for universal background checks and a gun registry as crucial to solving crime. The new BATF rules mention tracing guns used in crimes several times. In theory, if a criminal leaves a gun at a crime scene, police would be able to trace the gun back to him. But outside of television crime shows, that isn't how things work.
Registration is useful for one purpose: confiscating guns. Australia, Canada, and the U.K. aren't the only places where registration is used to ban and confiscate guns. California, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. also used registration to know who legally owned certain types of guns before banning them, and Biden continues to call for a ban on all semi-automatic guns.

Gun shows need no loophole. As Dettelbach said,

“As an American and as a dad and as a career prosecutor, it bothers me when some people follow the law, and others ignore it with no consequences."

The definition of stupidity is to continue to make the same mistakes over and over. How many innocent people have to die before the idiotic NRA and their ilk wake up.

I love how you gun banners always whine about the NRA and not the failures of government or more importantly CRIMINALS tell us what the NRA has done that cause "innocent people to die" versus say the NAACP or the ACLU or the DEMOCRAT PARTY

you clearly don't understand the term loophole. every person required to do a background check has to do it at a store, or at a gun show or a flea market. Second hand sellers who are not allowed to sell INTERSTATE are not required under the Firearms owners protection act of 1986 and the BRADY law to conduct checks-be it at a gun show, a flea market, a knights of Columbus swap meet or their backyards

No, you are not being accurate. why don't you tell us what causes your hatred of the NRA-I am sure you will spew a facade when the real reason is that you don't like the fact that the NRA marshals votes against the left wing collectivists that you want to see in power

As I said, the definition of stupidity is to continue to make the same mistakes over and over. And you are showing that you want to continue down these same status quo paths that have failed our country so miserably.

and we have added 200 million more guns in the last 30 years and liberalized carry laws and YET OUR GUN VIOLENCE RATES HAVE GONE WAY DOWN. MORE GUNS and the crime rate has DROPPED.

why don't you tell us what you want to happen and why it will make things better (I know I wont' get a rational answer but I need a laugh)

How is it that gun deaths have exceeded car deaths in the majority of states?
    https://vpc.org/studies/gunsvsmotorvehicles22.pdf

How is it that guns have become the leading cause of death of American children?
    https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/07/health/gun-deaths-injury-research-funding/index.html

Those statistics are shocking especially given how little utility guns have in the modern world. The current situation is far from acceptable.

Your cherrypicking of crime statistics is noted. US has consistently been among the worst in the world when it comes to irearm deaths.

complaining about a problem without offering workable solutions is just complaining. We get the fact that you despise the way gun rights advocates vote against progressives, socialists and other leftists

that's a lame failure to rebut what I posted.

I cannot help if you don't find a need for guns-your silly claim is equally applicable to golf clubs or booze

https://www.nhtsa.gov/press-releases/traffic-crash-death-estimates-2022#:~:text=The National Highway Traffic Safety,in motor vehicle traffic crashes.
    42k

48k total from guns, over half of which were suicides. 48k/2= 24k.

24k from guns in 2022, 42k from cars. Cars aren't even INTENDED to be used as weapons and they kill twice as many people. Suicides excluded because suicides will try another method.
