President Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to "the principle" to meet for a summit discussing "security and strategic stability in Europe," but will only take place if Russia does not invade Ukraine.

The summit will be discussed by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during their meeting on Thursday.

The potential summit was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday, and a press release states that the summit "can only be held at the condition that Russia does not invade Ukraine."

Well, I guess if they are planning on discussing it on Thursday, Macron may have bought a few more days to let cooler KGB heads prevail...

Better than nothing, I suppose..... I don't see any way this will be an in-person summit.

Even Faux has this news, so there's a chance it might even be believed by a majority of this forum...

But as I'm reading Russia is already stirring the pot in Eastern Ukraine, is this too late??

Oh god...once Biden tries to talk and starts stammering and getting confused and there is no cue cards or teleprompters...

Putin is gonna laugh his ass off.

U.S. President Joe Biden has agreed "in principle" to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin so long as an invasion of Ukraine has not occurred, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a press release Sunday.

"As the President has repeatedly made clear, we are committed to pursuing diplomacy until the moment an invasion begins," Psaki stated.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken is scheduled to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Europe later this week, "provided Russia does not proceed with military action," Psaki stated.

Biden "accepted in principle" to meet with Putin after Blinken's meeting with Lavrov, "again, if an invasion hasn’t happened,"

Joe did just fine in Geneva, and didn't manage to sell his country out at the same time...

Putin is most likely trying to get a feel for what sort of sanctions/actions he will be facing if he invades... And I suspect Joe will give him a pretty good preview....

We'll see if that's enough... if this even comes off to begin with...

They don't care. All they have is what the Orange Stain has. Insults.

Do you believe that Putin didn't do this when POTUS was President because of <some reason>?

Or do you believe that Putin is doing this now because Biden is POTUS for <some reason>?

Or, do you think this would have eventually happened regardless who is POTUS?

    Biden wants war.

There is a pact between France, Germany, Russia and a few other nations that are supposedly meeting immediately to prevent an escalation.

I could see them bypassing the US just to make Biden look bad.

It's a European issue, let them handle it.

Lol Biden is trying to remain relevant with this.and sending over Veep Throat.

Macron, Putin, and several other leaders announced today emergency talks to immediately stop any escalation. Biden was specifically excluded.

It's a European problem let them handle it.

Its also a thumb in the eye of Biden.

I can actually believe Putin wasn't super aggressive during the Dark Ages (2017-2020) to keep his pet candidate from having to make decisions he clearly didn't want to make...

Of course, that was no reason to keep Sedition Don in office any longer...

If Putin laughs so much, why doesn't he attack?

Because for the time being, NATO and Biden hasn't yielded anything to him.

Let me put you back in reality.

This summit isn't a Biden request, because the POTUS has given up absolutely nothing to Putin since this crisis began.

    Nothing.

Moreover, Biden is only attending the summit if Russia doesn't attack, which Putin has accepted.

And you are going to try to make us believe that Putin is in a position of strength?

He gave them a pipeline and has pussyfooted around sanctions.

No one, especially Putin is impressed with Biden.

Even the PM of Ukraine is unimpressed with Biden, especially when Biden got all panicky and told him invasion was imminent and he asked Biden for proof that never came.

Putin is the one holding the cards and if he can unite with European leaders to spit in Brandon's eye, he will.

    This is not true.

Nord Stream 2 is stopped for the time being.

Haven't you understood yet that Putin is neutralized when all the movements of his troops are exposed?

Putin has always said that his troops would withdraw once the exercises with Belarus were over.

However, he has sent more than 40,000 additional troops to the Ukrainian border since then.

If Biden is reassuring and Russia attacks, the US will have no credibility.

    LoL

Russia has an economy equivalent to that of Italy.

A military offensive in Ukraine would push the country into recession, not to mention the impact of international sanctions.

And I don't even mention the human cost of such an operation.

Russia has lost more than 12,000 soldiers during the 9 years of the 2nd Chechen war.

And Chechnya has only a small fraction of the military strength of Ukraine.

It's obvious that Putin doesn't want to attack and that the NATO containment strategy implemented since 2000 is gradually suffocating the Russian regime.

Is it possible that Putin is doing this to have us remove some of the sanctions that are ALREADY ON him? That is, I'll withdraw all the massed troops if you'll stop telling everyone not to buy our oil

Nord streams production is simply delayed, and the lame Brandon administration actually said it offers no leverage because it's not yet completed. That will show Putin.

Putin and Russians don't care if you know where they are. They aren't trying to hide.

Russias economy is smaller than the Texas economy. Between its sales of oil to western Europe (Because it's silly green energy just isn't working) and and the additional money another pipeline will bring we are helping Russia to modernize its military.

12k soldiers in Chechnya? That's nothing to Russia. Some Chechen Muslim terrorists took a building hostage and Russian anti terrorists literally shot and.blew up the building complete with the hostages inside.

Russia plays by a very different set of rules and you don't seem to understand that.

Finally the question you will never ask yourself is why this is all happening now?

Why didn't North Korea, Iran, Russia get bold with Trump?

Why are our own historic allies working without the US since Brandon abandoned them in Afghanistan ? Why did Brandon foster resentment between allies like France and Australia?

The answer is because he's an incredibly weak and inept leader.

Thanks to the pressure of Biden, who made Germany bend.

    Putin is trying to hide.

He claimed that his army would leave the border after the joint exercises with Belarus.

What planet were you on for the last three weeks?

The Russians do not want a war and Biden has not conceded anything to Putin.

Would you have liked it better if Biden had done what Trump did with Kim, threatened to nuke NK and then invited him to an unnecessary summit?

    With such extraordinary results....

I agree. We should give aid to Ukraine while not severing relations with Russia. Otherwise it’s a Europe problem. We need to keep our powder dry so to speak for our real enemy, China and its expansionist aims.

    Putin is hiding nothing.

You don't hide tens of thousands of vehicles, air bases, mobile hospitals, and troop barracks. Putin has spy satellites of his own.

Trump not only got North Korea to halt it's launches (As limp wristed Hawaiian govt officials sounded nuclear sirens), he made history by meeting with Kim.

He literally walked alone into North Korea. A bold move and historic diplomatic event.

Biden is a freaking vegetable and his foreign policy is a disaster but don't believe me.

    Ignore the polls as well.

It sounds like our European allies are trying to prevent our own MIC from instigating a war with Russia. They have my full support.

Indeed. Also conflict there immediately means additional fuel price increases, and wolf ammo costs.

Russia is creating lists of people in Ukraine to kill or send to camps after invasion, U.S. warns

The U.S. said it has “credible information” that Russia has plans to kill large numbers of critics, dissidents, journalists and vulnerable populations or send them to camps after an expected invasion. A letter sent to the U.N. human rights commissioner warns of large-scale "human rights violations and abuses" against anti-corruption advocates, religious and ethnic minorities and LGBTQ people, adding that protesters would also be met with unjust force.

North Korea had 10 missile launches in 2019 alone. So all Trump did was get a brief pause. I guess that qualifies as some great achievement to the cultists. North Korea is no less a nuclear threat now than it was when Trump met Kim.

Hopefully something good comes of this but with such weak leadership in America right now in Brandon, whom has demonstrated he is awful at literally everything I don’t expect any good to come of this.

worst president we have ever had, hopefully his handlers have a good plan of action.
