It will get worse. They only base that we are taking Americans out through is Bagham. It is surrounded, and flights are at the mercy of the Taliban. It is an unspoken concern that US citizens they may be taken prisoner and ransomed.
I doubt they will kill them. China is advising them: “Don’t even think about it”.

 

The plan was for total evacuation by May.
The Taliban doesn't come down out of the hills until May.
Biden reset the date to be 9/11 for "optics".
The Taliban came down out the hills in July and took everything.
Total screw up. A screw up that's getting people killed, raped, US tech may will find its way into Chinese hands.
Very bad. Millions of dollars of equipment lost.

Why are you sure of this? Biden took a vacation in the middle of this mess. Kamala's skipping town to Vietnam. They should be meeting daily to plan this, but they apparently haven't been for the last 6+ months. Where does this confidence that they are surely doing it now come from? They just announced they have no plan at all to rescue the thousands of Americans trapped in Afghanistan beyond the airport.

 

First off, we should not have abandoned Bagram ~6 weeks ago. THAT should have been the last place we left from, NOT Hamid Karzai International Airport. Bagram is immensely more defensible and well-equipped / -situated to evacuate from.

Secondly, timing the withdrawal for the height of the fighting season was utterly stupid.

 

Maybe he's going to tell them what his fav flavor of ice cream is? That should smooth things over.

 

Within 24 hours the 82nd Airborne was dispatched to regain control of the Airport in Kabul. A division of US Marines has also been sent there for support. Now thousands a day are being flown out to safety. Our diplomatic teams have been increased in that country threefold and are now working to make sure that our people get out safely. Meanwhile scumbags like Carlson, Hannity and Ingraham are already clamoring to prevent people who worked with us for years from being admitted to America.

Our country made a commitment under the Trump administration to end our military presence in Afghanistan over a year ago. What transpired recently was and is a power struggle within Afghanistan to fill the vacuum which would be left without American military presence. Evidently pacts were made between the Taliban leadership and members of what they considered a puppet government propped up by the US. It now appears that the Taliban has taken their place as the real power in that country.

Spokesmen from the Taliban are now being interviewed by the main Afghani News agency by WOMEN who work for that agency and are trying to convey that they wish to be a legitimate government and respect the rights of the people of that country. They are also communicating with members of the UN in hopes of becoming a legitimate member of the world community. What I hope and suspect is also being negotiated with the new government is a peaceful way for us to get our people and former Afghani allies out of there without more needless genocide.

We shall see what transpires from this point forward, but it seems to me that the Biden Administration has made the proper steps both militarily and diplomatically in the wake of the total and sudden capitulation of the Afghani government and military to the Taliban. I sincerely hope they are successful in their endeavor to get our people out safely and get the hell out of there.

Feel free t o theorize", so reviewing the idiotic mistakes Biden made was kind of the point. There were more, but I figured those two were a good starting point.

 

Perhaps you and other anonymous internet experts should put in applications for high governmental positions. You are all seemingly well qualified, at least in your own minds.

It only seems that way to you because you're engaged in partisan cheerleading rather than thoughtful analysis. Biden screwed the pooch here, badly. Everyone knows it. If he'd "made the proper steps both militarily and diplomatically" we wouldn't be in this desperate situation: thousands of our citizens trapped across Afghanistan with no way out except hoping that the Taliban give them safe passage, and thousands of our troops in an extremely vulnerable position at the Kabul airport, again with no hope except that maybe the Taliban don't feel like killing a bunch of infidels over the next few weeks. The evacuation is not going well. Much of this current predicament could have been avoided if Biden had taken rational steps earlier in his administration (such as not abandoning Bagram first), or at least communicated clearly and honestly the dangers faced by our citizens and allies, rather than lying and blustering that it was highly unlikely that the Taliban were going to take over like he did 6 weeks ago.

 

Just about anyone could do a better job than those currently in "high governmental positions". That's painfully obvious at this point.

 

Well, for starters you're wrong here, a "division" of Marines has not been sent. A battalion was. Do you know what the difference between a division and a battalion is? Hint: It's a difference of something like 22,000 Marines). We have ~4,000 military personnel at KBL at last report. We're apparently trying to get that number up to something like 7,000, which is roughly triple the number troops on the ground in Afghanistan when Biden took office, which is a pretty good indicator of how poorly he's managed this withdrawal thus far.

I find it disheartening that you were dumb enough to fall for this charm offensive. They'll rape and murder women and girls, just like they always have. There's already reportedly been a woman murdered in Taloqan for not wearing a burka (and a child was subsequently killed when they opened fire on the crowd). Here is a (NSFW) photo:

Who is the total moron who decided to release the co founder of the Taliban from prison in Pakistan along with thousands of his cohorts a year or so ago? Biden thought he had to make a logical decision on getting the troops out of Afghanistan. the Afghan didn't defend themselves against the Taliban. There wasn't anything else that could be done for Afghanistan. What else could have been done?
