Even though he had a pistol in his possession, the officer clearly knew that and gave the orders to discard the weapon. Which the boy did. If the cop legitimately feared the gun being raised, then he should not have instructed for the boy's hands to be raised.

The boy's only dead because of the cop's actions in the orders that he gave and the shot that he fired. I can only see a murder charge, even with all of the mitigating circumstances. If the cop had been under calm and reasonable circumstances, the child would have lived. To me, this officer should have been held under second degree felony murder, clearly.

the officer made the wrong decision in hindsight, but agree, he did not have that hindsight at the time

a black gun against a black background, when your brain knows someone "had" a gun, the brain could play tricks on you with adrenalin flowing like that

agree, the child was a victim of the adult, and the adult should be charged with his death and more

    Nonsense.

Stop! Drop the gun! Put your hands up!

If the kid wasn't running away, clearly defying the cops orders, he would still he alive.

No where did the cop say "Run away from me and then suddenly spin around while concealing the weapon!"

This kid was taught to disrespect authority, intentionally not follow directions and orders, and do stupid ****. That's why he is dead.

    Blaming the cop is ridiculous.

The officer did not shout out "drop the gun". I doubt he even saw the gun in the dark but I still don't blame the officer

It's on the bodycam footage that he followed the orders.... yet he still got executed.
It is what it is. And this discussion is just dishonest if you keep this up.

That is your opinion. This cop wanted to see it, because that is what he ordered to see. But he went yolo and just killed an unarmed kid with his hands up as directed.

This is you saying, that his brown life did not matter and cops can just execute unarmed kids with their hands up.

He did. We got the body cam footage. The cop is a dirty liar. And that is the basis of claiming an armed fleeing suspect who might shoot whoever gets rightfully shot.

Oh yeah? To who? The thug with a badge did not even see any gun in his hands. He never yelled drop the gun, while he did want him to stop and show his hands.

The thug with a badge has no clue who discharged the weapon.

White people do and sell more drugs %-wise compared to black people.
Black people get arrested +300% more often on drug related offenses.
White people got a higher % of having problems with the law when pulled over.
Black people get pulled over far more often leading to more arrests on black people.

Have a wild guess how things go down with "most violent crime"...
You're looking at who the cops arrest. While more violent crime goes unsolved.
Your idea that being arrested more = more criminal... is a bogus racist perception.

It's simply a fact that racism against black people is wide spread in the US justice department.
Do factor is that ugly truth.

The cop was not aware if he was dealing with a criminal, but he killed the kid with his empty hands up anyways.

When white thugs with badges will start seeing black people are humans too instead of just killing them when even complying...

You are not going to convince anybody with this when you just made a racist comment about black people with you ... "When black people start acting like everyone else...."

Heroic? The guy executed a brown little scared kid, fully complying to the commands of the thug with a badge, with his empty hands up for no reason. Nobody made the thug with a badge shoot. He just did it anyways.

The thug with a badge still claims... that he was left with no other option.... to just execute a little brown kid with his empty hands up.

The thug is real danger to society.

I choose at this point to only mourn the cute little 7 year old girl who was killed at Mcdonald's by such shooters. Once I saw the video where the terrorist's accomplice was discharging the weapon in similar manner, and saw the surveillance video from the other perspective on the other side of the fence, the second it took for the officer to see a known armed terrorist flinging hands up was not enough time to put his life and danger just to save a terrorist. A terrorist has been killed, end a story.

I would refer you to Post #227 by @FreshAir , which incorporates my Post #189.

The fact remains that the perp HAD a pistol while running down the alleyway, trying to escape the police officer who was pursuing him. The surveillance camera across the way and behind the perp clearly shows him throwing the pistol on the ground behind the barrier.

From that, you draw one conclusion, and I draw an entirely different one. @FreshAir probably has made the best overall conclusion, and sure, it would have been a far, far better thing if a 13 year-old boy would have been sound asleep at his home at 2:30 AM instead of prowling the streets of Chicago, shooting at cars with his gangbanger friend, but, our lives are products of the CHOICES we make....

we can clearly see the suspect dropping the weapon, stopping and then complying with the officer. This is in no way debatable. When he was shot, he was unarmed and complying. That is objective reality.
yes, as I said. At the time he was shot, he was unarmed and complying.
there is no conclusion to draw. We have it on video. We know he was unarmed and complying when he was shot.
none of this is relevant. It does not matter what he was doing out that late, or what he was doing minutes before he was shot. At the time the officer shot him, he was unarmed and complying with police orders.

The officer had to make his split-second decision based on everything he had experienced while chasing this perp, observing his attempt to escape, and knowing -- that because he was responding to a 'shots-fired' situation -- he had to assume the perp was armed (which he, in fact, WAS, an instant before throwing the pistol out of the police officer's sight!

Question: how good are you at seeing what someone throws behind a barrier which you cannot see through, especially in the dark of 2:30 AM...? But, as always, you won't be convinced of anything but your own opinion, and, in fairness, given all that we know about this situation, neither will I... and the 'trench warfare' goes on and on and on -- while the entire United States goes further down and down and down....

The police officer will be destroyed, the perp's "heirs, successors, and assigns" will reap millions, and life (and death) will go on in the hyperlib paradise we call "Chicago"....

Why are troubled young Black/Hispanic men always thugs, but young White men who commit mass murder are only "in need of mental help?"

Many of us would disagree with you if you think that we on the Right advocate treating White 'perps' any different from those of other races.

To be brief, when it comes to violent criminals, the country would be FAR better off if we threw ALL of them, White, Black, East-Asian, Hispanic, and any other 'varieties', into the SAME dungeon -- and throw away the key! Total EQUALITY!

Of course it's relevant that seconds before he was shot, he was running from the cops with a gun in his hand, and that he tried to conceal that gun about a second before he was shot. It's also relevant that he was a gangbanger who was assisting in a gang shooting minutes before he himself was shot. Those things inform us about Toledo's character. They help us understand that cop's perspective and legitimate safety concerns.

    1. You want to talk about drugs, start your own thread.

    2. Regarding your violent crime ramblings. You entire premise is that cops are ignoring violent crime when it's committed by whites. And no, my perception isn't racist, it's simply based on verifiable data unlike your premise, which is based on...well, nothing verifiable.

Get an argument based on facts if you want to continue.

It's on the footage he did not that he fled refused to drop the weapon and continued to flee if you and honest discussion then admit that.

No that is not my opinion and if you want and honest discuss you will admit it is.

That is a flat out lie on your part andnif you want an honest discussion you will admit that.

Now try to deal with the actual facts.

none of this is relevant. you can not shoot an unarmed suspect who is complying. We clearly see the suspect drop the weapon while running.
    pretty good
I've not offered an opinion. I've pointed out the video clearly shows the suspect was unarmed and complying when he was shot. That is in no way debatable.
as they should. like it or not, people you don't like have the same constitutional rights you do.

nope. completely irrelevant. you don't lose your constitutional rights until you've gone through due process.
nope, also completely irrelevant. you can't shoot an unarmed suspect who is complying with your orders.
    .
which would be relevant at trial, not in shooting him while he is unarmed and complying.
what the cop "feels" is irrelevant to the constitutional rights of the suspect. The kid was a complete piece of **** and headed for a short life of crime, there is no question about that. But it's irrelevant to the law, due process and the use of lethal force.

Toledo is dead for lots of reasons. The primary one is that he was a gang-banging dirtbag.
