I consider the lesser of two evils being our choices have been very poor selections. Biden is just as bad if not worse than Trump. We need to get both these clowns away from office.

 

It was an invasion of the US Capitol(that's why trespassing and disorderly conduct apply, and applied in all cases.). The issue is whether these rag-tag misfits were 'overthrowing the government'(they couldn't overthrow a city. If the officers had fired deadly weapons, the riot ends in about 20 minutes. They were cowards who attacked an obvious soft spot of our country). But if we remember, there were the Washington riots of a few months earlier, there too the rebellion wasn't put down, even at the insistence of the Trump Administration.

Had the earlier riots been put down, there isn't a 1/6. 1/6 was possible due to the weakness of the government.

(by contrasting example, the whole reason for the federal government of 1787 was to quell such rebellions, as the case was in Shay's Rebellion.). To me, our government is weak, politically motivated and incapable of responding to threats. I want to strengthen the US government, for peace and security for All Americans. Roosevelt/Reagan were right about talking quietly with a big stick and with peace through strength.

just like in the earlier rioting and looting, I said anyone caught doing either... should be prosecuted... do the crime, do the time

under Trump they were shooting peaceful protestors with rubber bullets and tear gas, that we should all be upset about - but we should all support stopping the rioting and looting

'Peaceful protestors' who literally did the same thing the 1/6ers did, except they had just enough sense not to enter the capitol. This is why Trump made the statements he made, and I backed them up at the time. Had the revolt in Washington been put down sooner, there isn't a 1/6. Yes, sometimes you have to intimidate the citizens in order for them to be law abiding. Why else do we have law enforcement? Not every day can be spent eating donuts lol.

It was political weakness and cowardice to refuse to step up to the mob, that the mob ruled with violence. Even during the 1/6 aftermath, Sund's released statement amounts to the same thing: Weakness and cowardice. To me, our security apparatus is maintained by those who lack the fortitude for security. When faced with a tiger baring its fangs, you don't pet it.

Unfortunately, just about most rioters for Antifa don't get arrested or charged. It is almost like the Left applauds and encourages Antifa and BLM riots. Thus, it is never the same when the other side does it. I am sure the Right wing narrative regarding Antifa and BLM is worse than it seems as well.

 

I suppose I'm considered "left" on here (which I find humorous) and I neither applaud or encourage riots.
I had no problem with the Floyd protests that didn't lead to rioting.
I had no problem with the deceived showing up the morning of J6 to listen to America's Gasbag whine about losing, until he pointed them to go down the street and fight like hell...

 

Can you provide evidence that the Trump guy actually pointed down the street and told them to riot? Because, that just sounds like you repeating some extremist left wing version of events. Because, there were like over a hundred thousand people there and 99.9999% of the people there were peaceful protesting. Now, if Trump actually did point and tell them to riot, then he deserve prison, but I doubt what you have been told how to think actually happened,.

At what point did he tell them to riot, go down to congress and fight like hell? I am curious now as your narrative appears incredibly different than what actually happened. It almost sounds like your are parroting exactly what some extremist website told you what happened.

I am not a fan of Trump either, but I hate extremists who take hard line stances for either side making assumptions or just plain being a complete sheeped tool for their party without looking at all the facts first. I mean, if the Left or Right Wing site told you how to think what happened, then what does that make you?

What were they supposed to be “fighting” for at that stage? The election was over. Biden won. Trump lost. All states had verified and certified the results.
The only thing happening in the Capitol was confirming the EC votes that the various states had already cast.
The only reason to “fight” was to overturn the election. Revolution. Insurrection. Sedition.

 

I believe what I saw myself on 1/6, which was put into a lot better context after reading the link I posted to you, along with the presentations during the 1/6 hearings...The sheep are the ones who believe what they are told, which would seem to be you in this case...

Trump wanted something like what happened on 1/6 to happen.
He did nothing to stop it for a dangerously long time
That it didn't fully work as planned ** doesn't change it was a full blown attempt at sedition...

** It partially worked, as the certification was delayed, but not as planned, because the Congress came back and finished the job.
