Breaking: Passenger plane shot down over Ukraine?

What is it? Is Ukraine trying to commit a false flag attack? Why would else they allow it to fly through war zone? Rebels don't have means to take down aircraft at 10 km altitude. MANPADS can engage targets up to 5 km high.



Be advised, that they have a history of shoting down passanger jets. They have shot down Flight 1812 back in 2001 with S-200.

Rebels have been getting many manpads from Russia. And they have been shooting down and at Ukrainian planes. This was the Russian Rebels. They are out of control and this is a war crime. Russia should be severely sanctioned.

 

Two Ukranian aircraft shot down in the same area by a BUK missile system from the ground. I am sure the accusations will fly.

 

Malaysia Airlines confirms it was taken down by a surface-to-air missile.

It is interesting what the idiots from Kiev Junta would say now about this accident? Probably, they will blame Russia that it was hit with the rocket from the territory of Russian Federation. Rebels, of course have no means to hit the airplane at such attitude. Well, let us see what will the black box "say".

Common, to hit the airplane from 10km you need a missile ground-air. Separatists have no such systems- too expensive for them, and not easy to hide. I think it will be soon discovered as such actions can be very easily registered from the Space.

 

The Associated Press says one of its journalists saw a similar launcher near the eastern Ukrainian town of Snizhe earlier on Thursday. The Rebels have been getting more sophisticated weaponry from Russia.

 

Journalists can not differentiate between different type of rockets. Only specialists could do that.

Where did you get that they were shot down by BUK? Any sources? Last time I checked all air kills were due to MANPADS and 10 km is way beyound their range.

I am sure anyone with eyes can discern a ground to air missile system.

Right now there is no information that can be trusted who did it but there have been no Russian rebels flying over the area and Ukranian aircraft have been shot down in the same area.

True, but there were reports about rebel Su-25. Although, Ukraine was currently running "Russian plane shot down our aircraft" propaganda stories.

It is still propable rebels did it without even knowing it. That plane shouldn't be there in the first place anyway.

 

President Obama will do nothing but impose more sanctions. What he should do is send the F-22 in a SEAD/DEAD mission, find the source of these surface-to-air missile batteries capable of taking down a commerical jet liner...and waste them.

Yes, it could be a first order magnitude mistake. Both Russia and Ukraine would know the aircraft in the area was a passenger aircraft through ATC but the Rebels wouldn't.

There are confusing reports now from Malaysian Air about "on-board accident".

Ukraine blamed Russia immediately. Nobody knows for sure who did it but it was definitely shot down by a missile at 33,000 feet. It could not have been taken down by a small shoulder fired missile at that altitude..
