It is not 'funny' however, when as specified, many were killed by that specific group called "atheists" ( I know not what was meant by the use of that term when used by anobsitar). Killing other people, regardless of what their culture or belief system is, is patently wrong within the framework of this secular society.

The Dalai Lama once answered to a french journalist who told him that god doesn't exist "That's maybe the reason he sent you to me".

Nothing changes that atheists murdererd lots of Buddhists because of religious reasons.

What a nonsense. No one is labeling Muslims atheist - nevertheless I personally have often difficulties to discriminate militant Atheists and militant Muslims. I never heard that anyone else has this problem. Perhaps "militant" produces a confusing logic of terror.

I can't blame them for the curiosity, certainly not. But I can--and will--blame them for simply believing in things for the sake of belief, or for "coming up with answers" as you suggest. In my view, that is nothing bu intellectual laziness. One does not "come up" with answers, one draws dispassionate conclusions based on rational examination of the evidence--preferably in a methodical fashion using something such as the scientific method. YMMV.

Fine. "Belief system." Are you semantically satisfied? :)

Might also be good to explain why you believe this. Evidence is good!

The chrisitianity I believe is the type that strives to be like jesus. Not to perform miracles or claim to be the son of God, but to be pure and good to the very core. Many western religions I've come across are a bunch of rules and ceremonies that have to be done in order to get to heaven. Chiritianity, the type I'm involved in, isn't about getting to heaven but becoming a follower of God by becoming a better person. Someone more like Jesus.
I think this is the best because its motivations are pure and te result is purity.

I am an atheist, but a soft atheist. If I were ever to change that stance, the religion that appeals to me most is Unitarian Christianity.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unitarianism

It appeals to me, because I have always been drawn to the philosophy of Jesus, just not the fairy stories revolving around his life. I was also raised Catholic, and the trinity thing never made sense to me. So I find that Unitarianism is the religion that most appeals to me.

Buddhism is a great religion or belief system because it promotes knowledge and serenity. But it doesn't give answers

Christianity promotes self improvemeent purity and gives the answers to the big questions

The bible says that there is a God that created the universe. He set all things in motion.
It answers teh question where we came from
The next question is usually why are we here?
According to the bible, we are here to do God's work which is described as following the teachings of jesus and being on a path to righteousness.

If you can think of any other questions you'd like me to answer in the nameof the bible, please ask them

Buddhism proposes that the universe comes and goes cyclically. Alternately, in western variants of buddhism, the 'buddhist' answer is the prevailing scientific understanding. Just because the answer is not different from the prevailing scientific viewpoint does not mean the religion is less of a religion.

Christianity does not propose an adequate explanation for the existence of the universe, nor an adequate explanation for the existence of humans. It does not answer either of these questions, but instead distracts the questioner with irrelevant dogma.

According to Buddhism, the purpose of life is to end suffering, and you do that by acknowledging the Four Noble Truths and following the Eightfold Path.

I am wondering why you think Buddhists have no 'buddhist' answers to those questions.

    when was there no motion?

    ever?
no it dont. It is a speculation of a time before anything but not a one ever been before 'any' thing.

So that ideology is subjective to a 'no' thing.
    to live

ie.... mankind is a part of 'everything' (existence itself) describing 'itself'
    again, speculative.

jesus said to await 'the coming' then all things will be known.

The religious wingnuts claim we are here to worship which is like how the pharoahs (men) like it, not god(s).

ie..... when god tells mankind to worship, then you have a case but otherwise mankind created all words and created the bible(s)
why did jesus tell people the truth on many fronts and yet religious wingnuts contianue to use his name in vain.

    ie... matt 16:20

Why do people discount truth to sustain misleading information? (false witness by choice)

jesus claimed mark 10:17-19 which renders 'why call me (him) good', no one is god except god.

then his lists the 6 commands which are stating to be fricken responsible for your actions.

    jesus wasnt a christian

as well, buddhism is BETTER because it invokes personal responsibility before requiring yourself to lie to any, to yourself or misrepresent jesus. Buddhism is about 'personal responsibility' and so was jesus.

worship is for the unevolved monkeys who would rather kiss the dirt 5 times a day or like in christianity, believe just lie to themselves that someone else is forgiving you for the actions which the irresponsible commit.

ie....."If jesus died for out sins, what happens now; He didnt stay dead?"
that was written by a 14yr old who comprehend not only the contrast of dying for someone elses sins but that sins are still occuring and nothing is stopping the beasts of burden from committing the atrocities.

    in a sense an occilation.

    i agree
    agreed
ie... the greatest MIND of suffering is the unknown. As knowledge evolves, the suffering lessons. As mankind learns, less suffer.

To be a child of the future and know what your purpose is; no mo suffering

and the underlying is to be honest with 'self' (discipline of mind)

With all due respect, Christianity only "gives the answers to the big questions" because it has made them up. Buddhism, for example, does not pretend to have answers like Christianity does--or Isalm, or Judaism, or many other faiths, for example.

    what is an atheist?

ie.... show me HISTORY of ghangis kahn calling himself an atheist. Or hitler, or stalin, or even the empiror of china.

I know ahkenatan was the initial teacher of monotheism in the middle east, does that mean he was god teaching the children of "israel" who the boss is?

    i agree.

What i want to know is what is an atheist to anyone except to the western beliefs that a god is some dude on a thrown? Meaning, just because many are not jewish, xtian and/or muslim does not make them an atheist.....

it means, they do not believe what some of the liars believe and the bigots within them beliefs have labeled them 'others' as atheist. (which is a crock)

    "In the beginning".

"Gen 1:1 ΒΆ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep."

In this world of science, in order for there to be motion, there must also be form. Even 'light' and other variations of magnetic waves have form. That is proven by viewing the shape of the magnetic field when it is under a glass containing iron filings.

In the case above from Genesis, the 'earth was without form, and void'. How can something be created (verse 1) that does not have form?(verse 2) Especially when you are speaking of something as large as the 'earth'.

This draws a distinction between the "creation" and the "formation". The 'creation' was a mental process and the 'formation' was the physical process. See this definition: "To produce through artistic or imaginative effort: create a poem; create a role." found here http://www.yourdictionary.com/create
This is further supported by the introduction in verse three where in God created 'light' "Let there be".... (Allow to exist).

Prior to that scenario, within the realm of physical law(s), there was no movement other than the movement of the Spirit of God.
