By Pandering to Hispanics, is the GOP alienating its white base?

This is a race to the bottom the Republicans can never win. No matter how much Republican politicians pander to 'Hispanics' (eg the disastrous Reagan amnesty, Bush's many failed attempts at further amnesty), the Democrats, the party of soft-headed lefties, will always out-pander them. Hispanics know this, they are very acute on this fact, and despite the Hispandering of certain Republican politicians, they don't really trust the Republicans. Hispanics know full well that there is a white nationalist core buried deep in the Republican electorate.

The question is, are the Republicans missing out on a golden opportunity to galvanize the white, non-Hispanic electorate (75% of the voting bloc) by trying to become something they are not?

 

"White working class Americans" haven't been represented by either party in quite sometime, and when they were, it was by democrats. It was the democrats who sold out white workers decades ago to steal the minority vote from the republicans. Of course, it worked for them as they still backed unions, which were what the working class whites were primarily made of. However, free trade/outsourcing plus right-to-work has all but destroyed unions as an option for most Americans, and with it came a large demographic of working whites with no representation by either party. Remember, MLK was a republican. There was a reason for this. That is why nothing is being done as to the invasion from the south. Republicans like the slave-for-scraps southerns for laborers as the democrats like them for votes. It's one of those issues like free trade, the FED, and interventionism that will never be addressed as long as the 2 parties monopolize control.

 

I am hispanic and I don't see the GOP as pandering. What you going to do deport me? I'm legal. What you going to do kill me? The (*)(*)(*)(*) outta here.

 

There has always been immigrants from the south, the only reason why people care now is how bad our economy has gotten for workers. Americans like the easy way out. They don't want to fight the globalists behind the destruction, for that would be real work. They would rather scream at the globalists to kick out illegals.

 

Truth. I for one am against illegal immigration. Not only does it just encourage Mexico and other countries south of the border to shoe off their undesirables, I am a firm believer in the rule of law. Either we have a constitution or we don't. Either we have borders or we don't. I don't appreciate my brothers and sisters dying over seas to supposedly defend our country when they don't even take the time to secure the border. They lie saying that it's easier said than done but then they don't even go after the ones who already made it across. We have no control over our rulers and it's just an unfortunate situation that we have found ourselves in.

How can they "know" something that isn't true? I have no doubt that many of them wrongly assume such a thing because they are not very educated on what Republicans really stand for and they are constantly being bombarded by a barrage of left wing identity politics smear garbage. But this only means that they're being used as pawns by people who only want to harvest their votes for their own political gain.

I don't believe in amnesty for people here illegally, but do you think the same people who are so put off by a couple of Republicans advocating softer measures on immigration are going to suddenly go to the Democrats for answers? That's their only other option.

Well, I don't know if you can really say that's untrue. There is a core of white nationalists out there somewhere, and do you think it's more likely that they would be found amongst Republicans or Democrats?

Now, whether they form the core of the party, is a different issue, and I think you're right that most Republicans are not motivated by race.

But I do think that the white racists tend to gravitate towards the Republican party. (And I say that as a Republican.)

Actually some of my posts do just that. I agree with you. The double standards placed on white people are unjust. You have every right to be angry. You will get nowhere perpetuating hate, however. Be above them and expose them for what they are.
