So I am going to post a series of articles on how this has gone down so far and let me know what you think on how they handled it. My opinion will be at the bottom of my post.

University of South Carolina cancels basketball games with BYU over racial slur incident

So you see how this has progressed. One player, not a whole team but one player claims she was called the N word. No one herd this but her. In a police report they found lack of evidence and even reviewed security cameras. There is no evidence of this situation happening.

Then basketball teams are now refusing to play basketball with BYU just because they disagree with how they handled this. I suppose they prefer to go on evidence.

I think this was one player looking to get attention. Made a false statement and now I think BYU should ban all competitions against that school.

Race baiting is worse than outright racism. And now it’s weaponized, because stupid people need to lie and cheat to feel like a winner.

The police and the school can't find any evidence of any slurs being hurled yet Slate knows it happened and is sticking to their story. I stopped reading when Slate started bashing the school and their religion as racists.

So anyway, what's the big deal about this word? And don't say 'if you have to ask' because the word is used billions of times a day by the very people it allegedly is supposed to offend. At a young age I was taught about the Sticks and Stones thing and there is literally nothing you can say to me that would make me shrivel up into a ball and cry. Why are some people incapable of doing the same thing? And they filed a police report? Really? Do they file police reports on rap music?

That woman made an accusation, now she has to prove it. As one of my favorite posters on this board often says, in this day and age if there's no video then it didn't happen. And even if it did, so what? It's a word and only a word. Some of us get what others believe are insults thrown at us every day, I mean,we're called Nazis, and no one calls the police, and if we did the police wouldn't care.

In the end this woman goes to the police and I'm betting she wanted to defund them just a year or two ago. Is it a crime to use that word? It's a yes or no question and I'm sure my adoring fans will be jumping on me for this post. Too bad I won't be able to see what they have to say.

If someone called one of the players a mick would this have made the news?

So not only do we not have any video evidence this happened, but we have no witnesses either?

If it was loud enough for the player to hear it then it was loud enough for LOTS of others to hear it....yet nobody has come forward saying they heard it? Has there been any witnesses agreeing with the player?

What would be this players MOTIVE to get somebody kicked out of an event?? Hmmm... Neither can I.....

Besides, she's from Duke... there are WORLD's of better things to chant to Duke students... black and white...

The video of the man, the article does not say that it had audio. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't. And if there's no audio, I'm not sure how you determine if the man said anything or not. Does one look a certain way when yelling racial slurs?

Not making a determination either way on whether the guy actually did it or not, only questioning the breadth of the video evidence.

Sorry, I love most of what comes out of the Arizona Republic these days, but I don't read that turd Phil Boas.... He'd need 3 or 4 generations of evolution to be walking upright...

And I wasn't even talking about the Lacrosse case....

But we do have tweets from this garbage tier woman's godmother (a black nationalist running to be a judge).
    upload_2022-9-4_17-10-11.png

This woman should be kicked off the team, kicked out of the school and prosecuted for a hate crime. How long are we going to tolerate hate hoaxes?

I agree, we should have the laws apply evenly, if the controversial law is going to be applied at all. But better yet, it's time to get rid of affirmative action. The idea of someone being picked just because of how they look or what their orientation is, goes against a meritocracy and ultimately weakens both businesses and workers.

Either to increase her victimhood score or just a plain old-fashioned desire for attention. This is far from the first time that a black person has made up a story about a racist incident to garner sympathy. It happens all the time.

Unfortunately for this girl, the video does NOT show this behavior. If they can PROVE it then there should be a punishment IMO
    END THREAD!

The NCAA should just mark those games as losses for the Gamecocks.

It's also far from the first time that a white person yelled out "N*****" to a black person... In fact, I'm pretty sure that score has a sizeable lead over the handful of yours...

You’ll be surprised how many black people do it and no eyebrows are raised, the police aren’t called.

What’s wrong with this story is that everyone, the media and the colleges all immediately concluded the story was true.

We are in 2022, not the 15th century! If someone imagines a sexual, racial or otherwise discriminatory remark from someone else then that is REAL. It's her reality and who are we to deny her that belief? Punishments need to be meted out based on the reality that, imagined or not, the incident COULD have happened and, as they say, an ounce of prevention saves a pound of problems. Unless we provide a world where nobody feels threatened then, as a people, we just aren't doing our job.

    So sayeth the mob!

The only safe assumption in the case of the evidence you cite is that everyone else in the arena was also a racist and is covering for the victim. That's the way America MUST work or else the soul of our nation is at risk of something or other.

What if the guy has Tourette's syndrome and is not capable of controlling the words coming out of his mouth? How aweful for this woman, and BYU, to ostrisize a person with a handicap. She should be ashamed of making fun of this poor man, which has this horrible, yet unique, problem of screaming racist words at specific people to where they are the only ones that can hear him.

My feeling is yes, the school should have the right to ban people in certain situations, but they probably overreacted here.
We all know they wouldn't have reacted this way if it had been some other insult that didn't involve something perceived as a racial slur.
