You have made a great argument that women need more firearms training.

How will that change those stats?

"Face full" Is only an expression. I would never take a head shot, I'd aim for center mass as I've been trained to.

And the same way that female cop who was off duty took care of the thug who was attempting to steal her gun.

By first and foremost knowing how to use it and not hesitating when it must be used.

Yall can pretend I live in irrational fear all you want. We also have coyotes, wolves, bears, bobcats, mountain lions, jaguars, and alligators in Texas. I've seen coyotes, wolves, bobcats, and mountain lions near my home. You can also pretend I'm some pervert with a fetish for guns, but it's pointless.

And you lot keep telling us Australia is dangerous! We only have poisonous snakes, giant venomous spiders, Buffaloes, Monster Crocodiles and of course the iniquitous Drop Bears!

Our point is that we, seemingly unlike you lot, believe in Murphy

My point - learn to defend yourself WITHOUT the gun because your backup plans should have backup plans

Won’t change those stats because the people shooting them are people within the household itself ie partners and relatives

You still have no idea how horrific a gun shot wound can look like in real life and that is nothing to the SMELL! It is unique and unforgettable. Gunshot wounds look nothing like what is depicted on TV

No problem - again you have to see the ruin left by high velocity bullets to understand what is really involved.

You wonder why I am against guns - too many years working ICU where even in Australia I have seen my fair share of gunshot wounds,

Sometimes those that died were the lucky ones

Different when it is a young woman, who was a police officer. Her “before” photos showed a pretty young woman. She was shot in the face with a rifle at close range and it was just a pulped mess. That was only one.

See high velocity guns in particular cause the flesh to rip apart due to the shock waves

That’s not a gun problem that’s a domestic abuse problem. Figure it out.

since this advice is useless, would you mind giving us your version of a personal back up plan for when things go wrong? Also, let me be the first to congratulate you on not being a victim, you should consider giving a lecture series to those dummies who, unlike yourself, became victims.

No, the actual law, which is applied in the courts.

Right, which is not the case when you shoot a fleeing person in the back, because in that situation you cannot claim reasonable fear of serious bodily injury or death. Texas is an exception, There you can shoot someone in the back of they stole your lawn-mower. Other States, including Florida, require reasonable fear of serious bodily injury or death.

I know the law. If you one say choose to take CCW class, they'll be happy to explain it to you. Don't take my word for it.

Do i have to clarify it for the 2nd time? You can shoot someone in the back if that person is in process of assaulting someone. Defending others is covered in self-defense laws, However, shooting a fleeing thief in the back will probably land you in prison.

I heard you opinion. You claim the law justifies you to shoot a fleeing thief in the back. I got it.

We don't have to agree. Go ahead and shoot a fleeing person in the back and then tell the judge the law is behind you.

The topic is about a homeowner who killed someone in Canada during a burglary incident,

Yes in part it is but guns make it far far worse and the stats remain the same - women are at a far higher risk of dying if there is a gun in the house than if there is not

There are fewer of those than the NRA would have you believe. Just because you do not hear of them as much as you hear the deliberate “noise” of the NRA misinformation machine

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/3/26/how-to-sell-a-massacre-nras-playbook-revealed

We rarely hear stories like this, instead our stories are about people defending themselves without guns

nope. I have the crime stats for both the US and my local area of Houston. So tell us your back up plan for when things go wrong, or were you just pretending? 3 armed guys break into your house it’s 2 am and you have no gun. Cops will be there in 40 min, this is average around here, tell us what to do instead of use a gun.

    go.

Don't hold your breath. @Bowerbird considers scenarios like yours to be a "trap." That's just a pathetic little dodge, of course. She's not honest enough to consider anything that might challenge her own dogma.
