Capitalism is extremely violent. Capitalism removes the natural human right to use the earth to gain sustenance by your own powers. Appling strict capitalist guidelines would allow parents to throw their children or anyone else into the ocean if that were the nearest point of disposal for the trespassers.

“Sorry, you don’t own any land, you are trespassing, into the ocean you go…lots of sharks out there, would you like us to shoot you first?”

Capitalism gives all the rights to the earth to landowners, the landless have no rights at all and can be shot on sight.

Excellent strategy. Let's not stop the hail of bullets killing us until we figure out how we're going to stop the blood from flowing...just keep it going until we form a plan. BRILLIANT! :rip:

Those who keep their jobs or their health when 20% of the others in a society lose theirs WILL do better in some ways.

It is not necessarily a recommendation for a crash or a pandemic.

Capitalism hasn't failed. The problem has always been cronyism. The more involved government gets in the economy, the more cronyist the economy becomes.

No, it can work in whole world and much better than this crazy system. This system is only good for a minority and a disaster for the rest.

And what you don't discuss is if in the creation of the shovel participated more people, whose property is it?

Correct....which is why we need restraints put on the politicians. My solution is simple...repeal legal tender laws and allow people to use whatever form of money they wish.

That will never happen though. Hard to control hearts and minds without controlling the pocketbook.

Still haven't seen anybody put forth anything that is an improvement over capitalism.

    Capitalism wins by default.

Capitalism isn't God or the Devil. It's more like a teen with a helluva lot of energy and a helluva lack of sense. The energy can produce some very good byproducts but there better be some mature, intelligently designed restraints imposed or else the chances of getting that dreaded phone call in the middle of the night are pretty good.

Geoism would produce more prosperity than land monopoly capitalism.

The transition to geoism would be simple, just phase out unjust taxes on consumption and production and increase the land value tax that the states already have in place. When land values are fully taxed then the monopoly power of land is destroyed, and equal rights to use the earth are established. Land value taxation introduces competition into the land market, that is why the land monopolists have fought so hard against it.

Here is a letter signed by dozens of leading western economists, including four (4) Nobel Laureates who agree that geoism is economically and morally superior to capitalism.

No, it can't work. I may pour my heart and soul into crafting a guitar (for example). I will never give it to anyone for free (unless they are a family member or loved one), and I certainly won't let anyone take it from me.

If I give people some pieces of silver in exchange for helping me create that guitar, then it's still mine. Those people don't NEED to help me. But it's a mutually beneficial relationship, so they participate. Quid pro quo. They say "we will build 100 of these guitars for you if you pay us to do it. We will help you, if, in return, you give us some purchasing power".

It's free, voluntary exchange. I'll give you my time and labor, you give me some money. It's my creation, and I'm allowing you to share in it. If we work together, we will both be better off. Granted, I will gain more from this relationship than you, but again, you don't NEED to help me. You can go do something else with your life's energy.

There are supposed to be and are supposed to be administered by the government.

What is government supposed to protect us from?

Monopoly. We see they have not done that with banking.

Fraud. Probably a better job here.

Illegal force, or forcing people to purchase something they don't want. Well, we can see that is now institutionalized by Obamacare.

Geoism sounds like another perversion of totalitarianism.

Has it ever been tried anywhere?

Hong Kong would be the closest example of geoism in practice today. Singapore would be next on the list. These two countries top the list of the economic freedom index. The United States was established under the geoist ideals, as the federal government was to be funded through land value taxation, though they didn’t call it geoism back then.

As for republicans… they weren’t always as stupid as they are today:

You probably don’t know this, but honest Abraham Lincoln was the first republican president, and he didn‘t support land monopoly capitalism as it exists today. Note his use of the word “hold”… he did not say “own”.

Have you ever been in a gift economy? I have. I go to Burning Man every year. It's lots of fun. I buy things to take with me and give away, or I make things, particularly alcoholic things.

But, while you are looking up "gift economy" as if humans should operate on the principle of gift giving as the sole economic system, you should also look up Sparkle Ponies: http://eplaya.burningman.com/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=42029

Economic calculation is part of human nature. Even when it comes to the allocation of time and prioritizing what to do with it. At some point, you will need authorities to force people to use their time on behalf of the collective rather than on behalf of themselves. In a small commune this problem is easily handled - just kick out the belligerent non-performers ("sparkle ponies.") In a larger anarcho-communist society, how are you going to deal with those who want far more than they are able to give? Humans have unlimited wants, so unless you intend to forcibly change human nature (as communists are wont to do), what's the plan?

There you go again, relying on your fallacy that money is wealth. As if the volume of money has anything to do with the volume of wealth. Your system is designed to transfer real wealth from the poor and the middle class to the crony capitalists, bankers, and politically connected. AV's system is designed to maintain stability and to raise the poor to an ever higher standard of living. Considering that his system, as poorly implemented as it was, lead to a decrease in poverty from 60% of the population down to 12% of the population, and your system has lead to an increase in poverty rates since then, I wonder who has the better system?

Where have I ever said money is wealth? This is basic stuff bro. If more money leads to more productivity than more money lead to more wealth.

    Simple simple stuff.

No clean water to drink? Here. Just drink this mercury/water combination then until you come up with something else.

    Society loses by default.

I know privatizing the election process and putting it up for sale is not exactly unConstitutional, but maybe it should be, eh?

So if I assault somebody and put them in the hospital, that person has no recourse except to hope people ostracize me? So essentially you're a pacifist?
