What's wrong with America? From day one, the media painter her as an evil mother who killed her child. They surely swayed public opinion. No one thought she would be acquitted. The American legal system declared she was innocent; despite everything that the media says. The jury found her guilty of only lying to investigators. Was the media wrong for swaying public opinion via sensationalism and unfair reporting or was the legal system manipulated for a murderer?
Unless one is railroaded, you cannot be convicted of murder with circumstantial evidence. The prosecution had a weak case.
FREE TO PARTY WITH THE BOYS....AWESOME Simply Awesome. CATCH.....Go to bed....It's past your bedtime kid.
What's wrong is giving the case over to a group of simple-minded people with nothing better to do for a month than sit in a jury box. Try and find twelve intelligent people who can take off that much time, and be sequestered in a hotel. Garbage in, garbage out. And Party Gurl laughs all the way to the bank.
Casey will endup with a huge movie deal offer from and about this...... She will be a very rich young lady. AWESOME. Only in America
Consider that the jury screwed up (it was circumstancial but cases have been won on circumstancial evidence) but the prosecution wasn't able to make a slam dunk case.
The prosecution provided no evidence. I hope you haven't made any weird internet searches because if some people had their way, you would be sitting on death row.
People that followed this case had their opinions shaped and influenced by the media. The jury did not. The jury's job was to look at hard evidence, and in this case, there wasn't any.
Neither. I would bet big money she did it. But the prosecution needs to PROVE she did it without a reasonable doubt. They could not show how Caylee died, nor could they directly link Casey to her death. What they had was a mom acting strange and lying. And yes, her actions point strongly to her having done it. But that isn't proof.
Funny. I thought jury duty was mandatory without a good reason. Personally, I think you're a rather pathetic person if you try to get out of jury duty even though you don't have a good reason.
It's easy to get out of jury duty. When they send you a summons in the mail, you usually have to fill out some information and mail it back (at least that's how it is where I live). All you have to do is say that you don't believe the legal system is fair and you'll never hear from them again. If that doesn't work, when you show up for jury selection, just wear a shirt that makes some kind of political statement that causes a stir.
Luckily, we don't have trial by media. The media declared Casey Anthony guilty before the trial even began. She was an unsympathetic defendant, partying, acting like the world was her oyster, lying about her daughter's where-abouts. While those things may make her unlikable, they don't make her guilty of murder. We sat in front of our televisions, listening to sound bites from a media that had already made up its collective mind and most of us came to the same conclusion, she killed her daughter. The problem with coming to that conclucison is, we didn't sit through the entire trial. We based our opinion on filtered information. We were fed what the media wanted to feed us and the media wanted to feed us sensationalism. The jury sat through the entire trial and found her not guilty. I am not going to sit in the comfort of my home and second guess them.
I say all those talking head lawyers saying how guilty Casey was, are now trying to remove their foot out of their mouths. The TV media lawyers are the worst germ on this planet. Starting with Nancy Grace, and Geraldo.
Makes me wonder if this is/was the only child dying under questionable circumstance, and why the media makes such a fuzz about some, and not others. Seriously, why was this case picked over others?
It was picture perfect, like a LIFETIME Sunday afternoon movie. Nancy Grace is a filthy POS. Truly a vile hyperbolic death queen. She used to be pretty even handed before she became her own biggest fan. I don't think she has a sincere bone in her body.
I have direct experience in these matters. The judge instructs: if you find reasonable doubt - to any degree, you must acquit. The jury found reasonable doubt; they had to acquit. They stuck her with lying: it was the best they could do. Anthony will be released with "time served". It's a bi**ch. Anthony will have a record of four convictions which will screw up her life. Best that could be delivered.
If no one listened to Grace, she would stop producing such a show. Don't blame it all on her. Why are we so fascinated by one story, and ignore another, often very similar, one?
Ya, those simple-minded people who had nothing better to than sit in a jury box, were smart enough to see that the state provided a (*)(*)(*)(*) poor case.
Those twelve good people followed the law to the inth degree; as they were instructed to do. When you have put your money where your mouth is, perhaps your opinion might be worth something.
