China must take or otherwise control the first string of islands from the South China Sea to the Yellow Sea in order to restore the Middle Kingdom after its period of humiliation. That's why there are political disputes concerning all of the waters bordering China.

The struggle between the Pan-Green and the Pan-Blue Coalitions debilitates Taiwan. The KMT has become the tool of Beijing against more indigenous forces on Taiwan in the current era. Look at my dear Uncle Reedak as an example. He is Taiwanese in nationality, but full blown Han nationalist in sentiment. The Mainland carries the banner of Han nationalism.

In short, only the Pan-Green Coalition still exists as a stalwart of Taiwanese rejectionism. In time the PLAN will have naval bases on Taiwan just as it now has on Hainan.

Of course, but with "leaders" like Neville Chamberlin et. al., seeing what's coming doesn't guarantee being prepared. You do understand that don't you?

Well, I'm not sure what sort of proof you would consider probative. Maybe by asking you to use your powers of critical analysis you can come to a conclusion of your own. Let's start with an orientation.

China is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party. In some ways it can be campared to a Dynasty. What all Chinese agree on is the restoration of China's proper role in the world. That proper role was established in an historical era some call the Middle Kingdom. Part and parcel of this approach is the restoration of China's territorial sovereignty during the Qing Dynasty. That includes Taiwan. There are different factions in the CCP with different views on the appropriate policies needed to achieve that goal.

The PLA is the armed wing of the CCP. It's necessary for the Party to keep the PLA happy at all costs.

The Central Military Commission members, general staff of the PLA and many Party cadre have grown rich over the years of Dengist expansion. They have been waging a struggle against more populist forces out in the hinterlands such as places like Chongqing. This coalition of PLA and Dengists defeated populist throwbacks like Bo Xilai, and then tamped down the reformist notions of Wen Jibao.

Now with the installation of a new reduced Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CCP the forces of the status quo remain at the helm without hope for political change. And they will continue to keep the military happy.

How did the forces of the status quo win this power struggle. They did so through several means. One of those means is by use of past disgrace and grievance, and present focus on America as the primary enemy. The forces that control China think things are rosy for restoration of the dimensions of Qing Dynasty China in the areas of the East China Sea and the South China Sea.

China is undertaking test flights in preparation to deploy new ICBMs against North America. Check this out:

There's a new ballistic missile race in East and South Asia.

If one puts two and two together one realizes that China's internal politics demand a series of defense actions which include major expansion of its inventory of ballistic missiles. I'm guessing that China is probably building more new launchers because it is building lots of new ballistic missiles.
