Nothing speaks volumes about the sanctity of holy affirmation like trying to hire someone to kill your estranged wife.

In a very un-Christ-like fashion, a Christian rocker is standing accused of attempting to hire a hit man to off the offending bride.

Now I appreciate the head banging noise probably much more than other 45 year old men, but I smut admit this is a genre that I know little about, mostly as the content of the music does not internet me. However, it woudl appear that this group is not only prolific, but well known in their circle.

Now does this occur in other demographics? Of course. But is this sort of acrimonious split, to put it mildly, demonstrate the claimed principles of this singer? Or represent his faith accurately?

Or is his outrage a preexisting condition where he sought refuge form his demons, pun fully intended, in his faith?

Tim Lambesis, lead singer of the Grammy-nominated, Christian heavy metal band As I Lay Dying, has been arrested for allegedly trying to hire someone to kill his estranged wife, officials said Tuesday.

San Diego County Sheriff's Department said in a statement that it had received information Lambesis was “soliciting another individual” to murder his wife Meggan.

A search of court records showed that Lambesis' wife, Meggan, filed for divorce in North County last September, NBCSanDiego.com reported.

SoundDiego contributor Tim Pyles, of FM 94/9, spoke of his shock.

“He’s not the idealistic young Christian kid he once was, apparently,” Pyles told NBCSanDiego.com. “Because that’s what [As I Lay Dying] are: a straight-edged Christian metal band. He was a nice guy. I’ve had him on my show a couple times over the years. I just spoke to him via Facebook the last couple months about having him come on to talk about his latest record.”

NBCSanDiego.com said As I Lay Dying was formed more than 10 years ago and had released eight albums, including the Grammy-nominated An Ocean Between Us.

In an interview with heavy metal website Noisecreep in January, Lambesis talked about As I Lay Dying being described as a Christian band.

“Five or so years ago when magazines would try and press that point we decided to stay silent on the spiritual topic so that they would have to pay attention to our music and nothing more,” he told Noisecreep.

“We didn't preach at our shows, our goal has always been to just write the best music we can write. Of course religion has some influence on the things that we write about just like all of our life experiences do but as a band, we want to be judged on the music rather than what our personal beliefs are,” he added.

The band was slated to go on a cross-country tour with Massachusetts metal band Killswitch Engage later this month.

The band had been touring in Asia in recent weeks.

“I love the crowds here in Asia and the Pacific. Great shows in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand so far! Just landed in Hong Kong,” Lambesis said on Twitter on May 1.

On Monday, Lambesis tweeted, “Goodbye China. I’ll be home in about 15 hours.”

The sheriff's department statement, which was headlined “Murder for Hire Plot Foiled,” said Lambesis was arrested “without incident” on Tuesday in a store in Oceanside, San Diego County.

Lambesis was charged with solicitation of another to commit murder, the statement said.

“Information came to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department on May 2nd that Lambesis was soliciting another individual to kill his estranged wife, who resides in Encinitas,” it said.

“The Encinitas Detectives, The San Diego Fugitive Task Force and the Sheriff's Special Investigation Division investigators immediately initiated an investigation,” it said.

“The investigation culminated this afternoon [Tuesday], when Lambesis solicited an undercover detective to kill his wife. He was then arrested, transported to the Encinitas Station, and booked into the Vista Detention Facility,” the statement added.

Anyone who decides to be a christian heavy metal person has obvious issues from the get go. Should have been locked up long ago after displaying obvious signs of mental illness.

Creepy people often hide behind safe cover while living lives that are 180 degrees opposite. It's why you'll find teachers, scout leaders and priests who are child molesters.

Here is the problem with christanity.

They think they can repent and be forgiven for anything other than blasphemy.

This knucklehead has the promise to go to heaven and live an eternity with 'god'. So why should Tim Lambesis care what happens to him here?

Christians have no morals or respect for life. Atheists understand we only get one shot at this.

Is there a point of view here, other than to take yet another cheap swipe at religion? Pretty feeble.

unless there are some Christians out there defending him for allegedly killing his ex-wife.... then your thread is simply religion-phobia.

don't mistake defending this guy's right to a fair trial as a support of Christians murdering, though.

seems to me, this is more of a case about a man killing his ex.... and his career choice is only brought up to posture for your agenda

Your ignorance of Christianity is exceeded only by your disdain for it, apparently.

Well let me be the first then: Your ignorance of Christianity is stunning and anyone that claims that Christians think they can get away with anything (like murder) is talking out of their ass and your views of what Christians "think" is the ultimate in putting your mistaken views in the mouths and heads of others you wish to defame. Shameful trash, really.

    Reality?

So, why create a thread to demonize religion based on the actions of one individual?

Also, I'm pretty sure I know what this thread is gonna turn into...

    Let's watch...

Is that why a higher percentage of prisoners are christians than the general public?

Christian Metal just seems like an oxymoron to me. But whatever. I won't use this story to bash the religion. No group is without its bad seeds and hypocrites. Plus, there is so much more I could base the bashing on.

    - - - Updated - - -

To be fair I think many become Christian once they are locked up. But as someone who has lived in the Bible Belt for 15 years I can also attest that Christians are no more or less moral than anyone else, so I don't think the faith really affects the criminal much on the whole.

Obviously you have no idea of what a Christian is. No true Christian believes he can order the murder of another person and then ask to be forgiven and it will happen. In order to be forgiven, you must be truly sorry you committed that sin, then ask for forgiveness. You can't be forgiven just because you asked to be.
