You got your bunker ready and stocked with food & supplies?? - - - Updated - - - Nice fantasy you have there. lol Obama most likely cannot wait to get out of office after enduring 8 years of having his every move challenged. The man is burned out.
Oh, then how do you explain the right wing attack on Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building or the recent Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooter? http://www.newsweek.com/2016/02/12/...ger-threat-america-isis-jihadists-422743.html http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/colorado-shooter-praised-murderers-abortion-providers

Yep, the party that started out the debates with a woman, a black, and 2 young Hispanics vs the party that started out with 4 old white guys. It seems they are.
upon Hillary's victory in November, many Conservatives will call for civil war or secession. Just like in 2008.
And ended up with an orange colored racist with bad hair. So much diversity! - - - Updated - - - I doubt any of those cowards will have the guts to do much except cry on the internet. Their tears will be delicious!
I think any of the polls options are possible. It really depends on a large number of complicated factors. A significant enough event could indeed trigger a full-scale civil war. It would be very painful in the short term, but I think in the long term there's the opportunity for something wonderful afterwards, the breakup of the US, sovereignty returned to local regions.
Gods - the wars over water rights between the regions would last decades. Who gets the water from the Colorado River? How much water can be taken out of the Mississippi? Does Southern Cal. get any water at all? Who controls the Armed Forces? Who get the most nukes? What type of transit taxes are going to be charged the areas with no seaports? It would be cluster-f**k of epic proportions. People who consider the breakup of the States never consider the thousands of agreements that bind us together. It's not all about Congress or the President.
I really don't see the problem here. You're allowed access to the resources in your territory. The states would have their own armed forces. A thorny question indeed, but the Soviets somehow managed to do it, and the world is still here. That's for the states to decide. I didn't say it would be without pain. But in the long term, I think it would be good. You don't need to dissolve those bonds if you don't want to. The only bond being broken is the political one, the strings that all tie us up in Washington. Economic, cultural bonds could still be there if the states want them. Free of movement too. I should also say, it might not break up along state lines. You could have larger or smaller regions, depending.
Stop tearing the country apart. Attempted legal coups d'etat are destroying the political fabric of this country. The Democrats started this horrible trend, at least in the modern era. They impeached Nixon, and we saw a trial conducted on television...with the country divided largely along party lines. Ford had the vision to prevent the nation from being torn apart by a protracted legal battle - literally a civil war fought in the courts. The Democrats then tried to pull the same maneuver with Reagan and the Contra affair, but gained little traction. Since then, it has become standard practice. Every President without fail has been subject to a partisan attempt to criminalize and de-legitimize his administration. Now the practice has become so extreme, that it begins even before a candidate is elected. Trump has escaped (so far) only by virtue of the fact he has never held a government post. Comey, a registered Republican, deserves the Gerald Ford Memorial Medal for rising above partisan politics, and preventing what would have been a legal and political civil war. If the GOP had gotten what it wanted, you would see every Democrat in the country go on a red alert war standing. There would be unending legal challenges to every GOP election, and every GOP attempted legislative proposal would be DOA. The country is too evenly divided for one party to override the other party. Either through use of force, or through legal maneuvering. Let the country be governed by the ballot box, not the jury box. Legal coups d'etat will not be accepted by EITHER party. Republicans would not accept them, no more than they would accept a military coup d'etat.
So blowing up a federal building and killing or injuring almost a thousand people wasn't an attack...hmm. I guess by that standard 9/11 wasn't an attack either. - - - Updated - - - Left wing attack?
I doubt it. I think everyone is mostly just numb by now and will just float along with the flow....wherever it goes.
Nixon resigned rather than face an impeachment that would have brought much more corruption than was ever suspected to light. The only recent impeachment we've seen was an attempt to overthrow an elected President by a Congress that had already deliberately subverted the Founding Fathers real intentions. The Geniuses of Philaephia tried to write the sovereignty they truly intended the States to have into the Constitution. They just couldn't foresee that conservative fanatics would discard their main idea in favor of ideological unity. It''s conservatives that have bound all of us together into these partisan straitjackets and even they are now beginning to chafe under the restrictions. Sensible people would see the problem and do something about it but conservative are fanatics, they redouble their efforts when they've forgotten their objective. Hopefully, they'll all be gone from Congress in 2016 and Madam President will be able to finally get something done
