    Been saying this forever.

It could be this countries "new tobacco" cash crop

decriminalization of it, in itself, automatically reduces the crime rate.

Me too. I realize it's not all roses and sunshine, but since we know the "War on Drugs" has been one of the greatest failure and biggest money sinks in US history, why not make some money on a substance that isn't nearly as dangerous as alcohol?

It won't be long, so many states are having budget issues and this is a clear and easy solution.

Good stats for the Month of March, hopefully other states will catch on as well.

Seems inevitable. State budgets are tight, ignoring a source of revenue would be foolish.

Lots of smart people have used Cannabis in their lives, but call them whatever you want.

    I'll call them taxpayers.

Come on BVWC, hasn't those old stereotypes played out yet?

A conservative estimate comes in at over $100 billion dollars a year in the USA generated by the sale of cannabis for recreational use. There are not that many hippies or 14 year old black kids on street corners to come up with that figure. Most pot smokers, all walks of life, are keeping a low profile and lying to your face, while they are buzzed and you don't even know it. :roflol:

Haven't the arrests for driving while intoxicated jumped by something like 500% also?

And if you think the Cartels are walking away from a 1 billion dollar a year profit, your mistaken.

They aren't walking away from it, they will continue as before but undercut the legal prices. I have NO IDEA why people think the cartels will all of a sudden put on a suit and tie and become productive members of society. It is completely FOOLISH to think that will happen. Same thing with the gangs here in the US.

No, not in a matter of months they won't. They'll sure put up a fight before they loose one of the most lucrative businesses known to man.

All they are going to do is move up here in more force.

They will undercut big time and the government can't compete so what will they do?

They will crack down on the Cartels even harder, increasing the violence.

Just a dumb idea to legalize this stuff when you can't control what's coming into the nation.

    Prohibition ending says hello

    - - - Updated - - -

Please tell me of the bootleggers that are still in business today.

Legally grown it will be cheaper......

    - - - Updated - - -

Who is going to bring it in when they can get it here?

Your argument is void of any common sense

    No demand= no SUPPLY

    Mexican pot is (*)(*)(*)(*) anyway

    Prohibition was completely different.

    Different times,

You can't compare them at all simply because of the massive change in scale. Prohibition was outlawed due to Christian principles for cultural reasons, marijuana is illegal because of the violence associated with it.

Too bad more republicans are not honest about it. I have know police officers, teachers, doctors, and even pastors who have and do currently imbibe in the wacky tobacky, and they all will with vigor deny to anybody's face that they are not close personal friends with. Why? Because it is illegal and they don't want to lose their jobs.

When it becomes legal, coming to a neighborhood near you, people like BVWC are going to be shocked.

Marijuana is illegal for the same reasons. Bible thumpers

Prohibition was what created organized crime in America....not vice versa

History has a way of repeating itself

The mere fact that you are going to increase the use of an intoxicating substance, and legalization will do that, means more impaired drivers on the road and more dead children.

Seems like a high price to pay so you can relax.

If you are asking if I smoke pot or use it in any other way, not in about 20 years. I've always had a job (3 currently), never been considered lazy (and wasn't when I did), and am considered fairly intelligent according to most IQ tests. Most of the people I know who do smoke hold jobs or even own their own businesses.

So most of your stereotypes are totally ridiculous.
