So this idiot does all he can to curtail any possible epidemiological containment in Florida, and is now governing over the nation's Covid-19 epicenter and the state with the biggest number of new cases. Florida broke its own record, and yesterday posted the biggest daily new cases number since the beginning of the pandemic (21,683).

And we all know why: because he has presidential aspirations and understands that the Trump crowd loooooooves it when he treats the pandemic like it's no big deal.

So, who cares about the lives and health of Floridians if he can snatch the nomination, right? I mean, priorities, priorities...

Case counts are meaningless. Hospitalizations that over run the system matter.

    Ivervectim works and works well.

Its a cult. And they are willing to drink the arsenic laden water for their leader. Problem is that the arsenic is heading into everyone's pipes and and what's coming through everyone's faucet is lethal.

Yes, the B.1.621 variant accounts for 10% of cases in Florida. However, it hasn't been classified as a variant of concern, or even a variant of interest. That is, so far it doesn't seem to be any worse than the previous strains. It will probably not survive the onslaught of the much more transmissible Delta variant. Still, anytime you have more than one variant going on in a place, the risk of recombination increases.

I mean, this is not rocket science, folks. (It is virology and epidemiology sciences, though). Employ fewer or no containment measures, and you'll end up with more cases. Simple. So DeSantis' actions and inactions are having the expected consequences. I hope this stupidity will ultimately cost him politically, just like Trump's attitudes regarding the Covid-19 crisis likely cost him the re-election.

His take is that he is doing what he is doing, to preserve Florida's economy.

It's not the containment that hurts the economy, stupid. It's the virus, stupid.

I recently saw a piece about restaurants, based on OpenTable data, showing that immediately after the Delta started its surge, restaurant reservations dropped precipitously, in places where there is no restriction whatsoever in the operation of restaurants (full indoor capacity allowed). Patrons simply no longer want to risk dining out in the midst of this new resurgence of the virus.

After refraining from doing so for a long time, my wife and I finally risked dining out again, when the situation seemed under good control a month ago. No longer. We will not risk it (although we're both fully vaccinated) until this Delta surge passes. And in my state, there are no restrictions whatsoever on restaurants.

We were also considering travel for vacations we have scheduled for September. Nope. No longer. We'll have a staycation instead. And again, there is no governmental mandate preventing us from buying airplane tickets or making hotel reservations. Not even any quarantine in the destinations we had in mind.

So, it's not any governmental mandate that is discouraging us and preventing us from patronizing these businesses with our money. It's the virus.

The best way to damage an economy, is to allow a deadly disease to run rampant. And that's what this moron DeSantis is doing.

Who does brick and mortar business these days? Its older people that still want to see the product, take it off the shelf, feel the texture, read the box, and see the price tag. and talk to a salesperson and then go to a register, hand over a coupon and see it ringed up. That is a lot of jobs. The longer they end up sitting at home, using Amazon etc, the harder its going to be to get them back in the habit of going back to those shops, restaurants, etc.

Who goes to the theater, the movies, the comedy clubs, The ballet, the concerts, the bars, attends football games, basketball games, attends wrestling meets. Who eats the popcorn, drinks the pop, eats the hot dogs, or drinks the beer, the wine, the champaign? Those are jobs that will not be found on Netflix, on Sports networks, the Arts and entertainment network etc.

Its the same with churches. They are already dying a very slow death. Its almost impossible to get people younger than 35 to show up each Sunday. The only reason to open those church doors and have a live service is for older Catholics, protestants, Muslims and Jews who want the same religious experience they had 40 years ago and 20 years ago, the same feeling of community etc. Now they are losing a habit that provided solace, comfort and company to a demographic that most needs it.

We are going to end up forcing loneliness again on people who will literally die of it because people won't do what it takes to allow them to safely rejoin the community. All to feed a culture war meme thrust on everyone through a political party that cannot see a way to win elections, without new culture wars and new culture war victims.

Biden’s importing COVID cases from south of the border and giving them free plane rides wherever they want, no ID required.

Feign concern over COVID all you want. Biden is clearly not worried about American’s safety at all. What a disgustingly lawless degenerate he is.

    another miracle drug?

    from the fda site .......
    • FDA has not approved ivermectin for use in treating or preventing COVID-19 in humans. Ivermectin tablets are approved at very specific doses for some parasitic worms, and there are topical (on the skin) formulations for head lice and skin conditions like rosacea. Ivermectin is not an anti-viral (a drug for treating viruses).

How much does it cost and what are the side effects, especially for the elderly ? A treatment that kills you itself is really not much use.

desantis has a great plan to confirm himself as crown prince of deplorables ....

    1. by forcing school children to unmask he thinks to achieve "herd immunity" by stimulating their young immune systems. those same children do frequently catch a coronavirus called the "common cold" but no matter because

    2. by not requiring vaccination or mask of nursing home and home health workers he can reduce the number of medicaid patients anduse those savings to brag about his budget at cpac.

No, the Trump crowd just values freedom of choice rather than government force

Even the white house said that this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated so why are you concerned about losing the very people you demean as lesser?

Yeah, sure. Freedom of choice supposes that the American people, state by state through the electoral college, have a choice in choosing who their state's electors will vote for. Seems like your idol tried to subvert that, huh?
Oh, maybe because I spent the last 41 years as a physician trying to save lives? How about that?

By the way, don't equal my venting of my opinion here, with how I behave in my real professional life. Like I said, I police myself to only demonstrate externally the utmost respect for my patient's choices (although deep inside I reserve to myself the unexpressed sentiment "what a moron.")

Also, before you say that then it's my obligation to try harder, I do try hard, but like I said, if all patients believed in their physician's advice, there wouldn't be a single obese patient in the United States, and 40 in each 100 of our population are obese.

Patients are notorious for not following physician advice. So, we try, but a lot of these people are incorrigible. It's frustrating, to say the least.

As a matter of fact, while the jury is still out (more studies are being done as we speak), and while the evidence pendulum seems to oscillate back and forth, lately (with the latest evidence), I'm inclined to support that ivermectin is likely to be beneficial. The FDA hasn't considered the latest evidence yet. I won't be surprised if the guidance changes, after more data from more randomized controlled trials get in.

Here, read is. This latest meta-analysis is for moderate evidence of benefit:

    https://journals.lww.com/americanth...mectin_for_Prevention_and_Treatment_of.7.aspx

After the hydroxychloroquine fiasco, people hesitate in supporting a repurposed drug before solid evidence is in, but the evidence for ivermectin is mounting.

Yes and guess where it's all showing up. In districts that vote heavily democrat. Maybe Dems shouldn't have lied about the vaccine before the election.

So if illegal invaders with Covid are coming across our southern borders unimpeded..... put on buses...... and shipped secretly all over the US to unsuspecting towns and cities ..... yes even to towns and cities in Florida.... I wonder what that would do to the spread of Covid in Florida.... all illegally orchestrated and endorse by our corrupt Biden administration..... wow that is story book man...

By the way, what’s your opinion on allowing the thousands upon thousands of unvaccinated and covid contaminated illegal aliens into our country?

Or does that not matter? Do you hold the same opinion of Biden as you do of desantis for Biden’s illegal immigration policies or lack thereof?
