    I do also.
But a business should have the same options.
They are people also. Are they not?

A mask doesn't protect the one wearing.
And I am not a mask advocate.

No, they protect others from the one wearing.

And they do work in that sense.
I went to work everyday through out this pandemic. I heard virtually no coughing or sneezing all winter. At work.

There are masks that do protect the wearer. Get one of those. And if masks don’t protect the wearer then why is it that doctors wear them? Wouldn’t they just make patients wear them and not worry about themselves?

When has mask wearing contained any Covid outbreak? Answer: Never.

The most vulnerable got Covid and because gravely ill even when they were masked while the not so vulnerable to Covid got Covid but weren't affected from Covid exposure even when they didn't wear masks.

After reading the article you’re wrong. Private businesses can still require and are requiring masks in some cases. So you’re freaking out over nothing. Read the OP supplied article

    To protect the patient.

Now if you're referring to face shields they protect the wearer also.

    Not freaking out. At all.

Just was asking if business can require masks in FL. You first replied, no.

Now you say they can. Freedom.

California and Florida each have 20 million unvaccinated people in their states. On Thursday, Los Angeles had over 3200 cases, and that’s just LA. The media is attacking DeSantis because they think he’s going to run for president in 2024.

Florida's Current Case Hospitalization Rate is VERY HIGH

    Number of Cases, Jul 6 to Jul 17 (11 days) = 62,268

    Total Number of Covid Hospitalizations, Jul 17; 5,359..............,Jul 28, 8,816............Up 3,457 (11 days)

    CHR 3,457/62,268 = 5.5%.........Pandemic CHR average; 3.5%

    Note; Younger and Sicker Patients

Also, YES, patients are younger and sicker, however, an ICU surge/failing organs doesn't make any sense.

‘It just went boom.’ ICUs are being overwhelmed with younger — and sicker — patients

That's because people don't know what masks to wear and how to do it correctly, like I posted several times including yesterday (I think, in another thread - you can easily find the post by looking at my recent posting history). The right kinds of masks, worn correctly, are highly protective.

No, he is being attacked because he is working AGAINST containment, unlike California's governor (and unlike Maryland's Republican governor, for that matter - I couldn't care less if a governor has R or D attached to his name - I look at policies and results).

You are failing to quote that California is much more populous than Florida. Proportionally, California is doing much better.

Dairyair, you're a good poster, why are you so wrong about this? Face shields don't protect the wearer against airborne, aerosol-savvy SARS-CoV-2 (except for direct splashes to the eyes, a rare mode of transmission). On the other hand, N95 and FPP2 respirators (and even more, N100) do protect the WEARER, and do so dramatically, as evidenced by numerous studies. N95 respirators and even surgical face masks as long as they are at least ASTM level 2 grade and are worn with an add-on that enhances the seal (such as a neoprene brace) drop the odds ration and relative risk for the wearer of catching Covid-19 very significantly, and that's a FACT.

That's a great stance but rules aren't calibrated for those of us that take personal responsibility.

The more I read @apexofpurple's posts on the situation there, the more I'm leaning toward this is the cart driving the horse. Sure, FL probably makes a good dollar during Spring break and the summer but it feels different than just that. I've talked to enough anti-vaxxers to know that while they support Trump and even "Stop the Steal" they are drawing a hard line at getting the vaccination. So, this could very well just DeSantis pandering to the Republican anti-vaxxers that want no part of the vaccine, masking, social distancing, etc.. It's a dumb way to get their vote but it may explain why he's making some really bad choices right now.

There's a huge surge in ICU's, and that doesn't make any sense???????????.........and Republicans certainly don't have an answer.

‘It just went boom.’ ICUs are being overwhelmed with younger — and sicker — patients........https://www.miamiherald.com/

''At Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, there were 17 patients with COVID-19 on Friday, including six in the ICU and one who needed a ventilator, said Dr. Marcos Mestre, vice president and chief medical officer.''

    https://www.miamiherald.com/news/coronavirus/article253144973.html

    THE MATH

    6 in ICU's/17 patients = 35%...................Pandemic average; 19% in ICU's, 5% On Ventilators
    1 ''On a ventilator''

It should be the opposite.......a surge of patients ''On Ventilators''

    AND HERE'S WHY

Fact; Over 80% of Seniors are fully vaccinated
Fact; Up to 86 Percent of Older Americans Have a Pre-Existing Condition
Fact; Pandemic Average; 19% of covid hospitalized patients were in ICU's.........Mainly Seniors

https://www.cms.gov/CCIIO/Resources/Forms-Reports-and-Other-Resources/preexisting#:~:text=Up to 86 Percent of Older Americans Have a Pre-Existing Condition

RATIONALE; Patients are YOUNGER, thus, generally healthier, and compared to Seniors, YOUNGER have a much lower percent of comorbidities, thus, why are they overwhelming intensive care untits?

Pure projection. If any side is cultish it is coming from the left, the side that treats this disease as having the same lethality as the bubonic plague. It is also the side that does not say anything when their leaders don't wear masks when they think no one is looking or just don't give a damn if anyone is.

    Nancy Pelosi
    [IMG]

    Chuck Schumer
    [IMG]

    Dianne Feinstein
    [IMG]

Texas Democrats Going to DC to Avoid Their Jobs
    [IMG]

    Tony Fauci, the Dear Leader
    [IMG]

Etc., etc. And so on, and so on.

This cult is Faucism wants mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and lockdowns, which caused an uptick in suicides, and does not seem to comprehend why many people are not taking this disease with a low mortality rate with apocalyptic trepidation, especially when the leaders who are imposing these draconian prescriptions clearly don't take it all too serious themselves, and the media, the supposed watchdog and the pillar of democracy, looks the other way in the face of this blatant hypocrisy.
