Speaking as a past real-estate broker I can emphatic say, "you're wrong." It happened on a regular basis, especially in neighborhoods 'on the edge'. Notice the house was boarded up? That's a magnet for problems and makes neighbors vigilant due to past issues.

My husband worked with an African-American guy and he was very wealthy and had a Mercedes and a weekend home in the Hamptons.
