I don't know how serious the disease is, but I know the seriousness of panic when I see it. I just bought locks to go on my chicken coop at night.

To combat the pandemic, Trump announced that the Federal Reserve cut its key interest rate to near zero, a dramatic move not seen since the depths of the 2008 financial crisis.

The Fed also announced plans to buy $700 billion in government securities.

    What's going on?

Trump also warned Americans against hoarding. WTF

They are announcing that testing will begin on a virus vaccine on MONDAY in Washington State on 40 healthy individuals. They do not expect a viable vaccine for 18 months.

Man, you couldn’t be more correct. We are a republic, not a democracy. Thank you for bringing this to the forefront.

It's definitely not living up to all the fearmongering. More testing is denigrating the advertised mortality rates, soon they will start downplaying the numbers and shift to more emotionally based 'human factor'...

And that's the problem no one truely knows what's going. Lots of of more or less baseless speculation but there is simply not enough information available to do much else other than speculate. This disease, as I keep saying is unprecedented in the human population, and until it works it's ithrough that population the first time we aren't going to be able to do much other than collect the data and speculate or hypothesis if you prefer.

conservative area and not a square of tp to be found, pasta. sauce, frozen and canned veggies gone (except Lima beans) most of the meat is gone (85%) people buying 3 loaves of bread, its weird.

I'm good for a month right now, but before the chaos started which was around Thursday afternoon I was probably only stocked up for two weeks so I've contributed to the craziness myself, oh well.

I live in Loony Gohmert's district - the reddest district in one of the reddest states. The store shelves are almost empty, the restaurants are closed, the schools and colleges are closed, the courts are closing. Your OP is demonstrable self-serving bullshit.

The person who knows that the amount of information about Corona virus and it's it's effects on human beings is at best limited at the moment and will remain so for a while yet and because if that knows that "expert" is as likely to speculate in the face of a paucity of information as anyone else. And further that experts can have political biases just like anyone else and such biases can distort their speculation. Also are you aware that in the business world, and to some extent the legal, the working definition of an expert is a guy from out of town with a brief case.

Here at PF, it's mostly about the righteous right calling out the looney left.
Even though looney isn't a political leaning. It crosses all boundaries.

fyi, a few rumors going around inner circles that states might be going into further lockdown as soon as Tuesday, I think I'm going to make one more grocery run just in case they go after restaurants and bars. which would make the food panic buying even worse than now.

Over 70s might be hit with a forced curfew to protect them in months as 60% of the nation braces for herd immunity.

    I'm insuring my TP.

I've reflected on any TP I may have wasted in my life.

Would now come around to the idea of a bidet.

I'm now at a point where if I see any TP in any zombie / apocalypse type movie, I'll know it's full of ****.

I’m in a Southern state and not a whole lot appears to be happening on the state level concerning the virus though I haven’t been paying much attention to state level news. Locally we’re dealing with the aftermath of a tornado. I can say being hunkered down in your bathtub contemplating your mortality while listening to that damn thing wasn’t fun nor was going without power for two and a half days.

I took a trip to the closest grocery that hadn’t been leveled today (roughly eight mile drive). The shelves were void of bread, can goods, toilet paper, hand sanitizer. So I’d have to say there was panic induced buying there.

This is generally Trump country albeit I live in an area that’s essentially L.A. without a tan and generally liberal. Yeah. Sorry country music fans your stars aren’t what they appear to be.

We stay stocked as we live in the mountains. When we go shopping and are low we have at least a month of food and supplies on hand. People are getting weird. Tomorrow we are going shopping to top off so we won't have to deal with anything from town for a couple of months. That is normal for us. I just hope they have the three things that I really need which are wood pellets for our pellet stove, NY Strip steaks and dog food. They can keep their TP and hand sanitizer. I put up more "No Trespassing" signs.

Well, the Los Angeles mayor just announced all bars, nightclubs, and restaurants to be closed till the end of the month with the exception for take-out and delivery. All public venues are closed including movie theaters.

A smart move is the city is suspending all evictions, so if you're short on the rent, they can't kick you out. Don't know how effective that will be, but I certainly can understand that as a move to try and curb adding more homeless on the streets.

    Let's see what tomorrow brings.
