After a couple moths of spring break crowds which was plenty of time to spread the virus especially after the kids flew home to points all over the US unlike the WW1 soldiers you showed that went to Europe and promptly got shot.

Diagnosed cases will obviously give a false high number because undiagnosed cases are not considered in the statistic unless you believe every case of covid has been diagnosed. Is that your contention?

It's becoming clear that many cases of covid are asymptomatic or are mistaken for a cold or flu which drastically lowers the mortality rate from diagnosed cases.

Apply the same rule to the Spanish flu.

Numbers of deaths don’t change and the Spanish flu killed more in one month than Covid has since it got here

We were talking about mortality rate. Did you forget?
If you would like to talk about what we are doing now that we didn't do then, we can also talk about that. You know, things like a shut down. :)

What you say is a possibility. It could also be possible that this virus hangs around, mutates and kills even more. Or just continues to pop up. But I would not be opposed to opening up some business with reasonable restrictions like National parks and Zoos.

Works for me. A rolling opening of businesses seems like a good plan.

The answer to the OP is obvious. There was no quarantine because of the war. You know, a shut down.

I live in a medium sized city, not big, not a tiny town either. But I know people who live all over the country, including in some big cities. Does it seem weird, in view of the reported scope of this, that not only do I know not one person who has been tested and has it, but none of the folks I talk to across the country know anyone either? I expressed this to someone who told me that there is so many people in this country that that really isn't that surprising. So I wonder if the amount of sick people and deaths should be put in perspective a bit better?
