You're the one who doesnt want to waste money doing high risk surgery on the elderly.
Now you're all freaked out cuz they are dying and want to cripple economies in a vain effort to stop a virus

what are you talking about, that should be between them and their doctor, not the government choosing for them

as for elderly, you do realize Trump is the elderly too... right?

we don't just say, not worth worrying about this virus, only really effecting the elderly

That 1500 has increased to 2,927 so probably 4 days to double.

Of the current 2,927. 10 cases are Serious or Critical.

Of the 116 resolved cases, 60 deaths and 56 recoveries.

    Stats updated daily.

Our social distancing may mainly serve to keep the health system from becoming overwhelmed, and that when we come out of isolation that rates pick up again. But, during these waves they may come up with more effective treatments that make it worthwhile. As the number of recovered folks builds, as you point out, knowing who they are would be helpful as those folks could safely serve the ill at no danger to themselves.

Those folks could deliver goods and services to those in quarantine. I suspect they will come up with blood tests that will be able to tell you if you had it and recovered, but obviously we are all hands on deck getting initial testing kits out.

The total number of confirmed cases in the US is 3,043, although when you take out the 56 cases where people have recovered from the virus and are no longer carrying it, as well as the 60 who have died, the active cases drops to the 2,927 you mention.

It is too early to draw too many conclusions from the US experience, as the virus arrived in the US later and is just beginning to spread. But the ratio of dead to recovered in the US (60 dead/56 recovered) has been very poor (48% dying/52% recovering). This is probably because, in the US, the virus seems to have spread the most initially among older population groups. Elsewhere, in Italy, which has an aged population and a somewhat similar over-representation of elderly among those who so far have contracted the virus, the ratio is also poor (58% dying/42% recovered). In other places, where the virus has spread more evenly among population groups and has not been as concentrated among the elderly, the ratio is much better. In China, for instance, the ratio for concluded cases shows 95% recovered and only 5% dying. In Iran, the ratio is 88% recovered and 12% dying. South Korea 92% recovered and only 8% dying.

Anyway, there are different ways to present the stats regarding this virus depending on the point one wants to emphasize, but looking at the 'concluded cases' category (which you mentioned elsewhere) does show the virus isn't exactly something to take lightly. Even the best numbers such as those in South Korea still give you a very high death rate).

Talk to the Aussie PM about that. He used the same graph.

I don't know the answer to your question, but the projections about the virus aren't original to either the Australian PM or this video. They are based on the scientifically based projections on how widely it could spread.

I mean that when a vaccine is developed, the recipe should be freely given to the world.

Thanks. So that graph...the flattening of the curve......was not something created in Australia today so that our PM could refer to it?

WAY TOO LATE for that now!

We are down to EXTREME Social Distancing as the last PRACTICAL defense we have because YOUR criminal IMPOTUS was too INCOMPETENT and NARCISSISTIC to do his job properly. A lot MORE people are going to DIE now because of him.

I have answered my own question.

    https://www.wdbj7.com/content/news/...-Flatten-the-Curve-on-COVID-19-568791561.html

Typical of PM Morrison. Just copies without acknowledgement, even the expression...'flatten the curve'....and in his case, so that hospital beds are freed up.

    Jayzuz!

    Complete and utter BOVINE EXCREMENT!

The Chinese completely MISSED that window and they have managed to stop it now.

YOUR criminal IMPOTUS was more concerned about his chances in November that we was about the health and safety of We the People.

Of course we can blame YOUR criminal IMPOTUS for FAILING to protect We the People because that failure is his alone. He had all the information but he chose to IGNORE his advisers.

would be nice, but I do not think the Trump administration will force American corporations to give that away for free if they discover it, we will see

Republicans just blocked a bill to prevent price gouging on a vaccine

"GOP blocking coronavirus bill — because it limits how much drugmakers can charge for a vaccine: report"

If an effective vaccine becomes available, will the anti-vaxxers refuse to take it?

I wonder, is the Left Wing ever going to get tired of howling and complaining? Imagine if he does win re-election, are we REALLY going to have to put up with 4 more years of this?

At one point, the Democratic Party was a serious party. It's now reduced to a billionaire admitting with virtually no political expertise of any measure that he brought house seats and will now literally bankroll Biden's campaign.

Hopefully, a re-election of Trump will force some major reassessment, and actually revive what once was a strong blue collar party.

maybe the left should create a tea party that attacks Trump's ever rising debt and his failing economy - where did the republicans tea party go

Trump made this issue about himself, he should have just let the experts handle it

Funny story about that: The Tea Party(Libertarians) were virtually annihilated by virtue of neo-conservative fund raising, but also the singular event that made me leave the Democratic Party: Democrats aligned with neoconservatives against the tea party movement.

If one is a Liberal with any sense of pride and history, that we ever merged for even a SECOND to join a neoconservative, the "new American century" that doomed us to a decade of war. It disgusts me thoroughly.

When the Tea Party was gone, that allowed Trump to gather a collection of various people. Tea Party voters, and then there's the Nationalist-Syndicalist Americans, then you had traditional conservatives who simply voted for the leading candidate at that time(Trump), most of whom now see that policies enacted have worked to a great degree.

Such that an even more Nationalist government can easily win in 2024. The Left "version" of the tea party(the Justice Democrats) have even less appeal on the left wing circle than the vanquished Tea Party.

The problem is that by adapting this "progressive" policies, a so-called moderate democrat no longer exists and so we are left with a party in absentee, or at least a party who's only skill as I said: Is whining and complaining.

You have not been keeping up to date. At this stage it isn’t about stopping it or limiting the spread. It’s about slowing the spread so healthcare doesn’t get overwhelmed.

Let’s say 25% of the population gets infected. If that happens over 2 months, the system will get overloaded. People will die because the ventilators won’t be available for everyone.
If it happens over 8 months the system will more likely be able to cope.

He is constantly giving reason for the howling and complaining. Here he trivialized and denied a potential threat until it could no longer be denied, thus putting the public in greater danger. Before that, he fired the very people we needed to manage a crisis like this early on, so he could give billionaires huge tax breaks.

You haven't even seen the tip of the iceberg.

And Biden beat the tar out of Bloomberg with almost no money.

More likely a civil war. In any event the country is toast. Young people look at trump and laugh at the very notion of patriotism.
