it may or may not be necessary for patterns to exist. Intelligent Design is a belief, it is not science and I do not offer it up as such. If others prefer to see the universe as patternless with nothing to indicate that there is a design, then I certainly have no problem with that. My own beliefs simply tend towards looking for patterns indicating a design.

I can respect that since you don't seem to be trying to use that belief as an attack against science.

No, practically. It can be observed and studied.

The design of living things has always been a huge problem for evolutionists. Even the simplest single-cell organism is unimaginably complex, with scores of highly sophisticated parts, all performing important functions and all mutually interdependent. The laws of statistics have convinced all who have bothered to calculate the odds that even something as basic as a protein molecule could never arise by chance, consisting as it does of a chain of hundreds of precisely arranged amino acids.

And such a protein molecule is trivial compared to any of the working parts of a cell. When it is recognized that all of these parts must be present and functioning at the start, it must be admitted that life is impossible without an Intelligent Designer. Actually, every living thing gives such strong evidence for design that only willfully ignoring the data could lead one to assign such intricacy to chance and natural selection. Every living thing, from simple bacteria to people, possesses the marvelous DNA code, which contains a library full of precise information, and without which life is impossible.

Another fatal problem for evolution—which, if it occurred at all, occurred in the long-ago past—lies in the nature of the fossil record, which is the only physical record we have of life in the past. As is now being admitted by my evolutionary colleagues, the fossil record gives no clue that any basic type of animal has ever changed into another basic type of animal, for no undisputed chain of in-between forms has ever been discovered.

So, where is the snowflake fairy NB?

Since they are complex then something must be creating them...

    What design? :-S

And you must explain a thing. If all need a designer, who designed the designer, in other words, who created the God that created us, and who created the creator of God, and succesively...

Someone said science is studied by corrupt humans? Did you know the earliest scientists were Christians who wanted to know more about the world God created? Darwin did not coin the theory of evolution. He realized that creatures do evolve, but he said you could trace every creature on Earth back to a creature put on Earth by God.

He probably would agree that humans, monkeys, apes all came from one common ancestor, which could have been the first human God put on earth, many the first human was hairy and primate like but evolved differently. Our DNA goes back to 11 species of human alone, not including primates. But a huge catastrophic event narrowed it down by quite a bit, from millions of humans on Earth to only 10,000, then more died off, but the dominant "species" or breeds lived on.

You have to realize that something you don't understand isn't corrupt or witchcraft as the bible might teach you. Many scientist do have faith, many they aren't dedicated Christians or Jews or whatever, but they have a central belief of God and they want to find out more about this world, and the ultimate question of "why are we here?". Everyone wants to know that, no religion really answers it.

The Bible makes it clear that a human being is not an animal or evolved from an animal…..a monkey or an ape is an animal. The Bible shows us that human beings were made, while the animals were created. The Bible says animals were made after the animal kind, while human beings were made in the image of God.......we are separate and above all animals....only a foolish person will see the obvious (the things that human beings have accomplished with our mind) and still believe we are no different than they are.........a human being is more than his or her DNA........a human being has a spirit but an animal does not. And witchcraft has to do with seeking or calling on evil spirits, and the Bible nowhere mentioned science. So I don't know where you got the idea that the Bible condemns science.

Apes evolved from the first human God put on earth - and Darwin would 'probably' agree with this?

    Thanks for the laugh...

Not human, like if God put primates here first, the first primate. But in his mind, it essentially is a human because we still came from it.

It was his belief that we and apes both came from the same ancestor which was created by God and he believed going back through the species we'd find something to help explain "why or how are we here". He was a religious man, and its very ignorant when people compare him to atheists. His goal wasn't to prove there is no God, he wanted to do the opposite. intelligent design through evolution really.

You missed the whole point. And if you think science is witchcraft, stop using the internet because you are essentially sinning. You're also being lazy, you could write a letter to someone, but you choose to make your life easier by using technology, SHAME ON YOU.

I did not say that science was witchcraft.....I said it was not mentioned in the Bible. For me to say it is a sin I would need to show a scripture that say it is or a Christian principle that it would be violating.

Depending on how serious you take scripture, protestants are real big on this, you shouldn't do anything that makes your life any easier. When the typewriter was first invented, it was shunned because so many people were protestant and believed using it would be a sin. If anything, if you don't take sins as serious as them, you aren't as pure as them and are probably not going to go to heaven if it were up to the bible. Most Christians wouldn't, no one takes it 100% seriously.

Not against Christianity or anything, but I'm trying to show the inconsistency and how if you can't take the other parts of the bible 100% seriously, you have meaning on bringing scripture into this discussion about humans not being animals or not. My points were more towards someone open minded, if you aren't open minded to evolution or even intelligent design through evolution then you have no reason to reply to what I said.

I do take the Bible very seriously and the Bible nowhere condemns technology or say it is a sin. The Bible says going good works cannot save anyone......we are saved by the grace of God, through Jesus who gave His life for all.

And there are a lot of inconsistencies outside the Church......it is the human conduction. Not every Christian are spiritually mature the same way not everyone in school is an A or B student.

Oh, witchcraft isn't about calling on "evil spirits", that's an antiquated Christian understanding originating in the middle ages.

It's drawing on invisible forces of nature, including spirits, to influence events. It can be practiced with good or evil intentions.

If one claims to be a Christian and believes in evolution, they are serving two masters:

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.

Nah, they just have the good sense to reconcile their beliefs with demonstrable knowledge mankind has gained.

But some dolts never 'get it' and insist on clinging to dogma as truth.

And Evolution PROVES the bible wrong. 100% wrong. Humans are part of the ape family, its really that simple. A chimpanzees DNA and humans DNA match 96-98%. Human beings evolved from an ape like creature, the same ape like creature that the chimpanzees evolved from. It is often stated by the religious folk that 'The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”' (Psalm 14:1), when in reality, 'The fool in his heart, “does not listen to evidence”.'

The problem lies when some people think human beings are some how special. This is usually due to an inability to think any deeper into a subject than what is right in front of them. Its human nature to do so. Once you can begin to grasp how big and vast this universe is (billions of galaxies each containing billions of stars), it really is absurd to think that something created this big vast universe just for humans. But yet, the theist doesn't see this. Why because it is not right there in front of them.

Its also easy to assume that we are different than animals because we are a “thinking” being. But once again, the theist cannot think deeper into a subject and instead lets their ego-centrism take over. Every single specie on this Earth has evolved an unique mechanism to help that species to survive. With humans, it is out brains and more importantly, its where our larynx is at. The Neanderthals were unable to develop speech because of where their larynx was at, which gave us the advantage. Humans were able to develop words so we could communicate our ideas to one another. Thus helping homo sapiens survive.

No we were not made in the image of 'god', humans made up 'god' in our image.

Perhaps because the bible was written 2,000 years when man was still living in huts and sleeping on dirt floors? Pretty amazing how the bible doesn’t speak of technology

Perhaps that is why there are so many inconsistencies in the bible? Surely an omnipotent god, who has the power to create this big vast universe, could do a better job of 'inspiring' man to write a book that didn’t have so many inconsistencies. I know I would if it were 'my word'

Actually I have to agree with NB on this one.

Its simple really, the bible is the 'word of god'. Evolution disproves a literal interpretation of the bible. So if you believe in the bible and know evolution to be fact, then you simply have not read or maybe cannot comprehend the book of genesis.

Or you simply refuse to give up your long held superstitious beliefs.

Either way, Evolution is simply NOT compatible with the bible.

Only inbred bigots take the bible literally, though. Educated, thinking people know that much of it is dressed in allegories and imagery to contemplate on rather than fight for the exact letter (translated and transliterated numerous times) as 'truth'.

Actually science has done that too. AKA = aeronautic engineering.

All things can be abused Mr. Rstones, including religion. Let's not assign blame here.

I don't believe that flying into a building was a designed or engineered feature of a 747. But those who did do this did it because of their faith.

That's because that's not what happened. You'd know that if you educated yourself about the subject you're arguing against before arguing against it.
