No, not existing numbers. He’s being transparent about the advice he’s received.
Why do you think transparency is bad?

How do you know it's transparent if you haven't seen numbers?

    I didn’t edit anything.

I just saw on TV that Spanish authorities predict 80% infection rate for Madrid. That’s one thing.

For a couple of weeks I have read reports of a prediction of 70% infection rate for the world.

Cuomo’s prediction is in line with what I’ve read for weeks and what the Spanish authorities are predicting for Madrid.

Do you have better information than them?

    Really? Wow.

    Outside of the FACT that:

    1) Many people don't have access to Home Depot, Etc.

    2) Many people aren't "mechanically inclined"

    3) Many people don't have garages.

Outside of THAT, your post makes perfect sense.:roflol:

    And, just a friendly observation:

"Talking Points" to "defend" Trump must be getting rather slim if all that one has is:

    "Build your own ventilator".:bored:

He just gave a prediction with numbers.
Do you have any information to contradict that prediction?

How do you know any expert told him this? No expert has suggested this anywhere else. Are you struggling to make excuses for Cuomo's fear mongering to his public?

Are you ready for the strict rules that they imposed?
They were pretty draconian. You want that?

Just doing a quick Google "what percent of people will get coronavirus" returns headlines with guesses of anywhere between 40% and 70%.

    https://summit.news/2020/02/24/harv...e-worldwide-will-be-infected-with-coronavirus

A lot depends if the social distancing and quarantines work, I suppose.

No one is immune. It is extremely contagious, and there is no cure. What we are being told by the CDC is that 80% of people who do get it will be asymptomatic or have mild symptoms. Unfortunately the 20% will need hospitalization with some of those obviously not surviving.

I'm happy to see New York and California lock down.

There are a lot of exclusions in the "critical business" category....so obviously, people will still be going out to shop (and get medical attention if needed).

    List of "essential jobs":

Is it that or 80% infection rate? You're arguing both cases here.

By George I think you've got it!!! Welcome to reality.

I'm guessing Fox and Limbaugh didn't tell you this part.

Ya'll let a cruise ship dock and let 2,700 passengers off in Sydney, then scrambled trying to find all them. Yet your here criticizing our government, you should concentrate on your country because it's obviously pretty f'd up

Actually, putting a sock in it might be better than a mask.

Not at all. The draconian measures in China seem to have flattened the curve. Doesn't mean that they won't reach 70% infection rate eventually - just that it will take longer.

That is the whole point of social distancing / shelter at home / quarantine / travel bans. It is not to reduce the overall level of infection of the population - it is to spread it out over months or years instead of weeks. This will allow the health care system to deal with the sick, rather than collapse. I also hope that it will allow time for a vaccine to be developed. That would really let life get back to normal.

I know you don't like the message that Cuomo is setting out. I get that. You have bought into Trump's "it's all under control, it will die out in April with warmer weather" BS. But if you care to actually inform yourself, the reality looks much worse than you imagine.

Frankly, I hope your view is right and this is much ado about nothing. But it would not surprise me to see 200 deaths per day in USA before the end of the month. Maybe more. And continuing to climb.

No fan of Cuomo am I, but he is far more acceptable as a leader in this time of immense danger.

So the result of Trump’s 16,000 or more documented lies is that the more intelligent part of the public doesn’t trust what he says is a surprise?

Not one person in this thread said anything about it being nothing or much ado about nothing, but the fear mongering that is not factual is only making unneeded panic in the public. Has there ever been in the history of the world any virus that affected 80% of the population? Ever? to make such a statement to a scared public is irresponsible.

Cuomo is very impressive. Would give anything to have him as prez instead of Drumph, or even Biden.

It was Cuomo who caused the markets to collapse yesterday, not Trump. If Cuomo had stayed in his self-contained closet where he belongs, we'd all have been a lot better off.

Dow drops more than 900 points after Cuomo orders statewide lockdown

But it's not, so that question is not relevant. If it's worst case scenario, that's not what needs to be shared.
