Democrats are seeing a special counsel's report portraying President Joe Biden as a "sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory" as a disaster that could hinder his chances of reelection even more than criminal charges over his handling of classified documents would have done.

"It's a nightmare," one House Democrat, who asked to speak anonymously to NBC News, commented. "It weakens President Biden electorally, and Donald Trump would be a disaster and an authoritarian."

Yes, Trump had posted some colorful tweets about the issue but it was clear the issue was dead and gone. In fact, once Trump announced his candidacy, he routinely refused to address the topic in interviews. When baited, he would refuse to answer the question. Ironically, this spurred media condemnation, too. It was the media, not Trump, who kept birtherism on life support.

And even with the events of Friday, it was Hillary, not Trump, who opted to use the president’s race in an attempt to breathe life into her campaign. If Trump was using the birther issue in the lead up to a potential 2012 campaign, it was his foes using it in 2016.

The only problem? Trump did not take the bait and Hillary was left playing the role of a desperate Democrat who is coming to realize her encore at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is set to be canceled.

Under Trump’s leadership GOP lost 7 consecutive election year - 2017,2018,2019,2020,2021,2022,2023.

 

It's not what would happen though. We have a 2-party system by design. The two parties would be different is all. Democracy is about giving everybody a voice for the sake of stability. It's certainly not for the purpose of optimal policy, given idiots are given an equal voice, but if everybody has just an ember of power they can view power as legitimately derived. Stakeholders include more than just taxpayers and landowners. The fortunate and unfortunate alike contribute to, and benefit from, our society and its laws. Custodians and landscapers who can't afford to own their own property contribute to society and are stakeholders in it as well.

The 25th is as ridiculously unworkable now as it was under a Trump administration. Its virtually useless unless the President is laying in a coma unable to assert his opposition or resign. It requires one hell of a lot of cooperation with the objective of removal both in his own spouse, his own administration and Congress. You might as well take that white-out out of the drawer and forget the 25th was ever put in place.
