Maine, and it’s 4 something right now. I’m fine with it going higher if that’s what you are asking. We are going to have to feel some pain before people wake up and realize fossil fuels are a dead end.

So you don't use any fossil fuels for anything? You know, to set a good example

I do. It’s hard to get around when so much infrastructure is centered on it. Even electric cars likely use fossil fuels, as that is what the charging stations would be powered by. What I want is more accessible alternatives, which will only come around through increased demand. In the meantime I am willing to minimize my fossil fuel use and pay the higher prices for it.

Actually, think about it. That's 5 or 6 hours of driving. Take some time, eat a meal charge your battery at fast charging station. Safer for you to take breaks. Yeah, yeah you can have multiple drivers but that is the exception, not the rule. 98% of car use should not be determined by the 2%, let them come up with alternatives.

"We can prove our beliefs by our committal to it, and in no other way. Any belief that does not command the one who holds it is not a real belief. And it might shock some of us profoundly if we were brought suddenly face to face with our beliefs and forced to test them in the fires of practical living. If you hate Big Oil, give up your car. If you think coal causes global warming, close your account with the electric company. To not do those things make you a hypocrite."

Living Like Ed: A Guide to the Eco-Friendly Life Paperback – February 19, 2008 by Ed Begley Jr. (Author)

It's not hard to walk the talk, just look at actor Ed Begley Jr. he does.

That's stupid as hell. "The "walk the walk" nonsense doesn't fix a damn thing, lol. You seem to think that if I change and the rest of the world goes on how it is that everything will be fine. Nope. The very infrastructure has to change. We don't have to do away with cars and all that nonsense . We have to change energy infrastructure and the root source of power. What would me living like a caveman accomplish? These smug "walk the walk" comments I always here from the oil nuts accomplish literally nothing.

I see.....talking about it is the same as doing something about it.....got it. Leaders lead by showing others the way and saying follow me. Then there are those who think because they can expel hot gas on how bad fossil fuels are, then does little or nothing to change themselves. A movement like that will simply get flushed. If Begley Jr. can do it so can anyone.....if they really believe in their convictions.

Don’t you worry, we are all going to change when we reach the point that we are putting more energy into extracting oil than we receive from it. Of course by then it will likely be too late to shift gears to another energy source without significant disruption and suffering. In this case me martyring myself because the rest of the world doesn’t want to change will accomplish nothing. It is going to take our power hungry politicians to make the needed change, so that all of us can enjoy the benefits of energy from a sustainable source.

Funny, I've had about 6 different answers to my mostly rhetorical question, and each has been dumber than the previous, which is extremely difficult to accomplish.

    Guess where that one ranks??

Much higher than your original statement, I can assure you that much! But then again, you would have to have comprehension capabilities to get that. Oh well!

We would have been smart to pass the HydroQuebec referendum. Oh well, who ever said Maine voters were smart? Anyone that voted for LePage...

Kids, the Keystone crude is so low grade that it is best suited to be turned into a low grade diesel that is not allowed to be used in this country.

International shipping was supposed to stop using the stuff. China was talking about banning it, and they used to take anything.

Also, when the inevitable spills happen, it is especially toxic.

We would not have gained anything from that. It would only lower heating bills by 9 cents per month. It was just another CMP scam.

The price of oil and gas are going up, and could go up a lot.

Your estimate is already an antique...

On top of that, it would reduce our carbon footprint, and be there if there is an interruption in the supply of oil... Frankly, this is inevitable, and the sooner we do it the better.

Oh, and the price is determined by contract, no surprises.

How is it not the right thing to do for America ? . and the planet for that matter .. were you not schooled on this previously ..yet here you are .. hovering around the same vomit ..

It is Biden's "Not in my Backyard - Dump it in the Ocean" environmental policy that is "Dumb and Dumber"

Electric cars make use for some use cases. Performance for instance. I doubt anyone is doing long trips in their Ferrari F12 anyway, but the Tesla will absolutely chop it over a quarter mile.

Hard to see the case for someone from, say... rural Wyoming.

Trucking is another area where it simply will not be viable, the weight occupied by a succificiently large battery to transport 40,000lbs across the country eats up too large a chunk of their payload. Not until convincing and economical solid state batteries appear anyway.

My feeling is that a lot of that will stay internal combustion for a long damn time, probably switching to Hydrogen at some point.
