The stated purpose of the $60,000 trip was to attend the “Global Citizen Mandela 100” concert, the stated purpose of which was to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the late Nelson Mandela and raise awareness of global poverty. Yes, believe it or not, this was of great importance to YOU the American taxpayer, and you should be happy to pay for such things!

Oh, yes, this did actually happen two months ago, but the news about it has just now really come out. You didn't imagine for a minute that you were going to see it as a 'headline' item on any of the major liberal "news" media's propaganda organs, did you...?

Hint: If WHITE legislators had gone on a similar holiday to attend an extravagant, big-fun bash honoring some highly controversial WHITE activist in some other country, you can bet the CNN's and MSNBC's of the world would have been shrieking about it for weeks!

From your source: “The trip was paid for by Global Citizen, a nonprofit that lobbies for anti-poverty programs around the world, the Washington Examiner reported.”

Meanwhile trump is nearing $90,000,000 on golfing trips alone — and that doesn’t include the secret service and government aids having to rent suites at his properties that will be eventually be funneled back to him or his children.

    Yeah.

The RW seems to freak out over the littlest things.

    60k?:roflol:

And some of these same people were referring to $5.7 billion as a "rounding error".:smfh:

At this point, the RW will look for anything to fuel their Faux Outrage.

    60k? :roflol:

Pointing out that Ed Sheeran and Chris Martin were also on the schedule... 2 whiter men you will never see, but at least they had some white guys to keep watch. That should make you feel good!

P.S. How much is Trump costing the US to go give Kim a political hummer next week? You think it's more or less than 60k?

We pay millions for Trump's golf trips. I don't see you whining about that.

Both sides spends tax dollars like there is no tomorrow but you pretend only the dems do so. Pathetic.

Last year when Melania took her trip to Africa she had a 6 hour stop over in Egypt not even overnight, cost billed to U.S.TAXPAYERS $95,050.So if 6 Democrats took this trip to Africa for $60,000 by Malarias standards they got a real bargain.

Like any president has routinely done, he flies back and forth. Most often he stays at his own place in Florida. Millions? MILLIONS? Yeah, I noticed you provided a lot of links to credible sources to back that observation up.

Meanwhile, what has that got to do with 5 Black Democrat House members going on a spree to have fun and pay homage to one of the world's more notorious and violent 20th-century militants? I shouldn't complain -- Obama and his brood spend a tremendous amount of money MORE than that with their big family soirée and 'African-love-in' that lasted from June 26 through July 2, 2013.... Even the Huffington Post (always a bunch of Obama lovers) put the cost of Obama's 2013 extravaganza at upwards of ONE HUNDRED MILLION BUCKS....

Don't you ever read your own link?

The trip was paid for by Global Citizen, a nonprofit that lobbies for anti-poverty programs around the world, the Washington Examiner reported. The group said the presence of members of Congress at the concert would “showcase America’s ongoing commitment [to] health equality and global human rights.”

So much fake outrage over nothing.

Fine. I suppose that if this org wants to throw money away lobbying 5 Black American legislators and providing them with 'big fun' in Africa, then that's their business. We could speculate about how many 'kids' might have been fed with the money spent on those 5 House members, but hey -- it was supposedly ONLY sixty-thousand dollars. Chump change.... Sorry I even mentioned it. Compared to the hundred million bucks the Obama brood pissed away on its African extravaganza to pay homage to Mandela in 2013, it's less than nothing.

One last afterthought about where Trump goes to relax and clear his mind -- if he goes to his own place in Florida, how does that charge anything extra to taxpayers? Think: whereever he goes in the world, he is accompanied by the Secret Service, etc., LIKE ANY OTHER PRESIDENT HAS BEEN. Maybe Trump should start making protracted, multi-segmented, family excursions to Hawaii, like ex-prez "Messiah" did -- then the libs would really have something to bitch about!

upload_2019-2-24_7-44-26.jpeg . "Hey, I'd rather be jive-assing around in Africa! I don't get to have nearly enough FUN!"

So was his wife Winnie who loved to burn people alive by putting a tire around their neck pour gasoline on it and set it on fire. Those were some great times alright.

So rather than admitting you were wrong to have claimed that American Taxpayers were on the hook for the $60,000, even though your own linked article stated that it was paid for by a private group, you lash out like a stuck snake at everything and everything.

This is your thread and YOU were mistaken. Be a man and accept your error.

OK, I was wrong in asserting that any of the $60,000 trip expense was paid directly by American taxpayers, exclusive of congressional salaries, if any, and whatever 'incidental' costs were added with their entourages, etc. The money was, instead, funneled through the Global Citizen org. Ya happy?

I still think the spectacle of 5 Black American House members partying it up in Africa at a Beyonce (?) concert in Africa to honor one of the most controversial terrorists seen on that continent in the 20th-century is a disgrace, regardless of whose account actually paid for it.

Now that I've 'expiated' my 'guilt', care to tell us how Trump spending his free time at one of his own properties ADDS to the expense of caring for and protecting an American president...?

And, BTW, what I said in my OP was true --

"Hint: If WHITE legislators had gone on a similar holiday to attend an extravagant, big-fun bash honoring some highly controversial WHITE activist in some other country, you can bet the CNN's and MSNBC's of the world would have been shrieking about it for weeks!"

Ah, ha! So what should be of greater importance to an American citizen -- seeing 5 Black American legislators off to a Beyonce concert and African festivity to honor a 20th-century terrorist, or sending an American president to further negotiate an agreeable settlement to the highly dangerous issue of North Korea in possession of thermonuclear hydrogen bombs and the ICBM's to deliver them with...?

Yeah, I know... that a tough one....

Whole lotta excuses in that apology, but I am glad you finally came around to it.
So most of this is based on your opinion of Nelson Mandela. Called him a terrorist even. Guess you wanted apartheid to stay.
in addition to the secret service having to defend two locations non-stop and the cost of air force 1 and numerous other flights for staff and cabinet members, there is a large military entourage that needs to be maintained on land and sea for his little outings. How you are ignorant of this I do not know. Most anyone even casually watching Trump politics knows this.

Trump Organization LLC is billing the housing of his Secret Service and their food. And having attended several events at Mara-Lago, I can tell you they bill for EVERYTHING. Many past Presidents have used Camp David as a retreat because it is easy access (no $3.4 million for Air Force One which is the GAO accounting on Trump's Florida costs) and is government property with no additional fees.

    Well, Mandela was a terrorist.

    Among other things.

    Gracious fellow.
