The only reason everyone is calling it a bad call, is because it was intercepted. Had the Seahawk caught the ball, Carroll would be called a genius today.

There is no Grassy Knoll here. Bullsht... next case.

And yet...if not for the dumbest call in the history of professional football the Patriots would have lost yet another Super Bowl.

Let's not get carried away with absurd pronouncements.

No, from a person who knows football it was a seriously bad call from the jump considering the factors of what was going on. Had they scored a TD on that play I would still be calling the coach a dumb ass for risking everything on a pass from the HALF YARD LINE. 3-5+ yards I could understand, but not from 1-2ft away and Beastmode as your RB who can punch it quite easily. And they still had a time out left with 25 seconds remaining.

Sorry, but it was a really stupid call, its the basics of friggin football. And with the biggest game on the line you don't go full retard unless you really have too.

Ummmm both offenses played pretty damned well last night, the Seahawks most certainly are not a bad offense what so ever. How many times did Brady get intercepted? How many time for Wilson? How many times did Brady get sacked ? How many times did Wilson make the Pats look like girls lol?

Both offenses played pretty strong and made for a great super bowl, minues the most retarded play ever, but it was a good game. Lynch didn't have a stellar game but he made some big runs and a extremely great play on the final drive. We saw a rookie go from selling shoes , to the practice squad, make his first career catch in a SB, then his first ever career TD in a SB, AND THEN getting his first 100 yard game in a SB.

Gronk showed why he was comeback player of the year, Edelman made us feel the nostalgia of Wes Welker.....And to cap it off a rookie saves Brady and the Pats from heartbreak and relish a big moment.

Other than the "most retarded decision in a SB EVER" , my only gripes honestly was that Edelman was not named MVP and the fight at the end.

Laugh all you want. I still say you have no clue. You think they were going to run the ball three times with one timeout ? 26 seconds left. Ok coach!

The last play could have worked if it weren't for the awesome intercept. The players were in place and the throw was good.

538sports has a great column about this. The author says that if any coach screwed up in the last series of downs, it was Belichek. Pretty impressive analysis.

Lol the Patriots were giving the Seahawks the game on a silver platter, also it helped a miracle catch at the 5 yard line lol. But yeah, the game was won, over by a long shot until Carroll decided to return the favor and give a rookie the play of his life lol.

Was still a fun game to watch, much better than last years crap bowl.

That is not a play of strategy, its common friggin sense. You have the one of the top goal line running backs in the league, you are on the 1 YARD LINE......what the hell are you doing in (*)(*)(*)(*)ing shotgun formation???????? seriously???? 3 (*)(*)(*)(*)ing feet from the championship, 26 seconds and a time out left and you get into SHOTGUN FORMATION????

You truly know nothing about football if you are arguing this. And just because you are an NFL coach does not mean your play calling or decision making is perfect, Pete carroll screwed up big time and EVERYONE, except you, former players and coaches disagree with that play call in that situation. You protect the ball and go form the win, not shotgun formation from 3 ft away with 2 more downs to go.

I suggest you read a book or understand the game before you open your mouth. The call was retarded no matter how you want to try and look at it.

read the article on 538sports.... it sees the ending in a much more nuanced way than you do.

and my guess is, the guys at 538 Sports, who study this stuff and write about this stuff for a living, know a bit more about it than some internet yahoo on a political chat site. Common sense only takes you so far....

That's fine. But I'll take mershawn lynch up the gut for the victory all day. Especially with a timeout to spare.

Then they lose off merit, and not stupidity. You need to truly understand strategy, because it is obvious you don't grasshopper.

Yes I read it, it has a few good points but I will still always stick to my guns and go for lynch up the middle or even a Wilson bootleg run before a pass on that down. Knowing I have one more chance to stop the clock when I want to if the run did not score. That leaves me with2 more definite tries and you want to know why?

After the run I can stop the clock most likeley anywhere between 10-18 seconds left with my time out. THEN attempt a pass, preferably a play action in hopes it throws off the defense a bit. Then if that play is not picked or scores I still have 1 more shot to get it in.

Passing on that down was the major fault, especially from shotgun. I don't care about what statistics said about 66td's to 1 interception, the fact is he threw that 1 interception. Take the shot with lynch, the main reason your offense is so *******ned potent. The guy who plows through defenses on the goal line, especially against a defense who is seriously weak on goal line stand against the run.

I'm taking my shot of shoving it down their throat for the score and then relying on my strong ass defense to do the work for the rest of the game.

And no im not just some football junkie. Played the game for 17 years, my father was a coach, my brother is a coach and I have done quite a but of time as a student of the game under some respected local coaches. I know my football and I know what I would have done. Stick to my true strength, my backbone that is mershawn lynch.

and, as the dust settles, and having watched the play, I must say that I agree with you. with much less football knowledge than you have to support that agreement.

You need to apply more time learning about the game. I'm not calling myself a nfl head coach, but still this will go down as a retarded call considering the factors.

Yes, in this situation Pete Carroll did not play the right card at all with that play call.

No go back to playing madden, because obviously that is where your knowledge comes from.

It really just comes down to basics. Lynch was and is their bread and butter, the guy is a monster and he has a very strong offensive line and to abandon that in that situation is just nuts. I know one guy who is probably pissed more than anyone, Mershawn lynch lol.
