No, we no longer do that - we've found other reasons/excuses for killing each other . We ( our governments ) have found a way to divert our bloodthirsts , - after having been defeated / not making any progress in Korea/Vietnam + other smaller wars .
planting us in front of TV screens watching our military kill Muslims.

When last have you seen on TV or heard mention of the mass slaughter between tribes in Central Africa ? ...

No News reporters and no camera s

    No. I agree.

And I implied no moral justification whatsoever, merely quote Neil Young's lyrics to the 1960's protest song "For What It's Worth": "nobody's right if everybody's wrong."

I question whether there has ever been a just war. WWII, perhaps, but it was certainly NOT waged justly.

Sad is the fact that we have come so far as to conquer space but we have not progressed beyond cave men in settling our differences.

Interesting that you draw a direct comparison with a thousand year old superstitious and barbaric practice repudiated by the Holy Roman Church for nearly five hundred years and a political tool of "modern Islam" which appear to have been condemned by exactly no "enlightened" Islamic leaders.

That suggests that either the comparison is a cheap diversion or that Islam IS nothing more than a superstitious and barbaric religion using its ideology for world domination.

But, it appears the defenders of Islam think just like Obamabots. Anything they do wrong becomes OK so long as they point out that Christians/Republicans did it to....no matter that it was ten centuries ago.

Now that is "progressive" thinking....if you are a reptile.

Let me explain something here. The Jews in the Old Testament were the first people enlightened to worship one Creative Power rather than the pagan 'idols' of self indulgence and fear. Since the Jews lived in a 'sea' of pagans, they were 'allowed' by God to kill them, rather than falling back into their old 'demon worship' pagan ways of throwing first borns into fires, burying girls alive, etc. .

The reason the Old Testament says God commanded them is because it was the only way God could be understood in that time and place. When the time was ripe, God gave man a fuller vision of Himself with the incarnation of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ showed us that God consists of Pure and unadulterated Love and is incapable of destruction in any form... And in order to unite with a God of Pure Love and enter His Kingdom, we must become like Him.

When a person becomes baptized, it means God has 'illuminated' them towards becoming a Christian, it does not mean they are Christians. To be a Christian, a person must perfect and purify their heart and that can only come from God's Holy Spirit. We know it as 'God's Grace'.

Interpret it whichever way you so choose to . IMO any so-called "progression " in human behaviour is but a superficial veneer " under certain conditions they all react/behave the same . While some appear to have been "tamed" Time has NOT changed the nature of the beasts -.

Its a deep subject , I'd rather not go into right now, I leave you to your own thoughts and this quote from Gandhi who was asked :

":What do I think of Western civilization? He replied " I think it would be a very good idea."

btw - If anything I've said gave you the impression I was defending ISLAM then get this : I'm just telling it as I see it. - I'm NOT Muslim , - , coz there's no way I'm going to pray 5 times a day , and do whatever else is required from a Muslim,

I was propobaly christianed in infancy , raised in an easy going/relaxed Anglican environment.- by Free thinking parents , nor would I ever consider conversion to Judaism/Hinduism/Sikhism etc.ect

I swear that in the name of our good Lord Dionysus - hic -

    It is, is not it?

the trouble with moslems is that while the rest of the world looking forward, they long for the past.

Now let me ask the Muslims on the forum something? What did Mohamed add to the vision of God that was given to us by Jesus Christ? :confuse:

Jenny , I've no objection to "paganism" from the little I've read , apart from a little bit of "sacrificing " the first born to a god - hoping to hve many more children later - a bit like early pruning - but whatever their so-called "superstitions" couldn't have been worse than the savagery/barbarity perpetrated/inflicted by the follower of any of the monostheistic / Abrahamic - derived believe systems

. "Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities". Voltaire who went on to say :
"Ours is assuredly the most ridiculous, the most absurd and the most bloody religion which has ever infected this world."

    Jenny - we're not dealing in certainties/undeniable facts , we're talking about BELIEFS .

iT IS/CAN BE WHATEVER YOU BELIEVE IT TO BE..

I dunno, every time a Jew is in the news, you'll find a thread here in PF World Events using him as a proxy (either overtly or covertly) for ALL Jews. So while in the real world that's true, here at PF it isn't.

O K so you don't want to talk abt tribal slaughter in Central Africa - how does Sunni Islam + a "Saudi Pope " ( I didn't know there was such thing ) affect you .

How does any of it infringe on your life ?

As you appear to be so concerned - what solution would you propose - shall we NUKE them all . ?

It's sad that Muslims are killing so many Muslims. What excuses can Arabs tell to kill other Arabs ? Blah
If you read carefully, you'll note that 75% of the threads are titled and connected to Muslims violence.
In Syria, in Nigeria, in Iraq, Iran and all across the Muslim world.
Alla is trying to tell them something. They do not listen so he kills them by their own bloody Muslim hands.

The nature of the beast changes when one acquires the Holy Spirit within them. In order to understand it, one would have to read the lives of the saints.

I always wondered about Ghandi and how he could be such a 'Christian' without being a Christian until I read he went to a Catholic school...so I'm going to assume he was baptized, although I am not certain. What I do know is that the social teachings in the Catholic schools are outstanding.

Aha! So a follower of the 'Rite of Dionysis' are you? My favorite god. :roflol:

It's like this - you walk down the street, and see a women ahead being raped. You look and it is not any one you know, so you turn around and go the other way, since it does not infringe on you personally.

    Right?

Bismark eliminated the Christian princes of the German states and united them with Prussia. By doing so he imposed on them the Prussian military culture which in time culminated into a Nazi paganism. Anyway that's how I see it. :confuse:

You may have missed the point of what an internet forum is. You see, here we get to discuss anything of importance, usually broken down into subsets by these things called an "Original Post" or "OP". In these subsets we can discuss our opinions regarding said themes regardless of whether they personally affect us or not based on personal wordviews called "opinions." So in a subsut, commonly called a "thread" we can discuss such ideas as "Do Muslims have 'a duty to kill' anyone who insulted the Prophet Muhammad?"

Now occasionally you might run into people who do not wish to discuss said theme, and seek to hijack it. One example would be by diverting said thread onto things such as crimes organized christianity has done. We call that "deflection." In such case the poster might be asked to create a thread relevant to said subset, or to join one of the many threads devoted to that idea.

But they are not peaceful protests. They are outbursts of 'passions' such as anger and hate, and passions are the antithesis of Christianity, so how can you say we worship the same God? :confuse:

At my age - advanced years - there's no way I'm gonna take foolish risks , -

All I'll go round a corner - call the police on my mobile. That's it.

That's also Police advice - "Do not take the law in your own hands " Do not unnecessarily expose yourself to danger " etc.etc.

But you think of yourself a Batman - then by all means do whatever you so choose to do .

    Good Luck.

No - I do NOT believe there's anywhere in the quran which commands Muslims to Kill anyone who insulted Mo .

However , if you can direct me to any quranic passage to support that claim, I'd certainly re-consider what you've said.

I again await you to produce verifiable evidence. -

    Islam literally means submission.
Hassan al-Banna founder of the Muslim Brotherhood in the 20th century "It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated, to impose its laws on all nations and extend its power to the entire planet."

Just as in the 14th century speaking of the sovereignty of the Islamic caliph, Ibn Khaldoon defined it as: "A representation, of the one who has the right to adopt the divine rules, aimed at protecting the Deen and ruling the world (Dunia) with it."

Like Al-Mawirdi before him in the 11th century defined it as: "Succession of the Prophethood aimed at protecting the Deen and ruling the world (Dunia)"

All because Muhammad said in the Koran
[5.44] ...whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the unbelievers.
[5.45] ...whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the unjust.
[5.47] ...whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the transgressors.

[3.151] We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they set up with Allah that for which He has sent down no authority, and their abode is the fire, and evil is the abode of the unjust.

[9.29] Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth...

As much as I generally ignore Quoranic quotes [the Bible is so often mis used], I find it interesting that the translation supplied would use the word "terror" as a condition of the heart.....a noun as opposed to the verb we use it as today.

My point is not that it seeks to be a dominant faith, most do. But that it uses centuries old barbarisms and relatively rational people apologize for them.

Funny too, I don't see anyone defending the faith. as much as I have railed at the worst of Islam, no one comes out of the dark nooks and crannies to say any of my claims are untrue, or even exaggerated.

But are we any better by trying to bomb them out of existence, killing women and children in terrifying drone attacks?

I forget the philosopher who warned "be careful when you hunt demons that you do not become one."

In the case of the US, I think its happened
