This isn’t really new news, but watching the Dolphins game and you’d think black people are 80% of the population, mostly wealthy or doctors and large business owners/executives from what we’re being shown:)

What are advertising trying to do? There’s misrepresenting realty and there is just silliness. Not saying a large extended black family with the grandma and uncles isn’t capable of going to Rome on vacation but cmon let’s be real here:) And it’s truly amazing how many black FAMILIES there are when you figure barely 30% are even intact. Even the footballl parties shown don’t represent anything I’ve ever seen in my life. Suburbs, black home, Asian and white friends with some Hispanics tossed in for fun. Hehe. Sorry. The parties I have been to in the suburbs hosted by a minority family do NOT look like your standard white “style” event. They have a very different flavor and tone…which I love BTW.

Again, what is being show can exist but it’s just rare. And let’s even talk about white people. Can’t even recall the last time I’ve seen a whole traditional family shown on TV. It’s always mixed race, 2 dads, single Mom, etc. The white people show have all looked like stoners or morons. Or they’re side characters. Seriously.

Do advertisers think we’re stupid or blind :)

No, it isn't news that whites are underrepresented and marginalized in commercials and even print ads, it's almost like the people making the commercials are saying 'don't bring me white people.'

I don't know diddly about marketing and I suck at being a salesperson, I probably couldn't sell crack to Hunter Biden. So someone needs to explain to me how using a small percentage of the population to sell to a much larger percentage makes marketing sense.

Next is the lifestyles presented by the people who replaced white people in commercials - those lifestyles are the exact opposite of what liberals tell us is unachievable and what often exists in reality, not always, just often.

I live in the El Paso media contour and the population base is largely Latino and then whites. When national commercials are aired they don't represent the people in the market they're being played in. Walmart probably uses the same posters in every one of their stores and they're mostly non whites, and in the women's section the white models are gravitationally challenged. They don't even use white people when all you can see in the poster is a hand with a watch on it.

But by far the worst I've seen is Comcast. Granted, they can't replace the commercials on network channels because that's how the networks survive, but they can replace them on the satellite channels because Comcast pay those channels to carry them. So the local commercials they replace the national commercials with are either from local businesses or they air the national ones if they get paid to do so. The local commercials represent the population of of this area - mostly Latino and whites with a few blacks sprinkled in. When Comcast has slots where no commercials were purchased they insert their own commercials for their own products and they feature blacks 99% of the time. Here is their careers website.

I don't see much diversity, inclusion or equity going on with Comcast.

But don't fret, I hear England is even worse, a lot worse.

It's not only TV commercials -- my local newspaper now gives me a ton of black 'news, photos, and feature stories'.

Overview (Demographics): In 2021, 40.1 million people in the United States were non-Hispanic black alone, which represents 12.1 percent of the total population of 331.9 million.
I guess you're OK with a newspaper giving 87.9% of the population mostly coverage of the other 12.1%. I assure you, from years of experience in the newspaper publishing business, more whites subscribe to newspapers than blacks. And most of the newspaper advertising comes from whites. You do the math and you'll find out where newspapers get their 'bread and butter' from. So it stands to reason who should get the most coverage. Well there are exceptions like crime and sports -- LOL

I am so glad y’all are starting to figure out what it feels like when your representation is being stripped away and why it is important.

I would ask you to apply this new found knowledge and concern to be applied to your own narratives when you are trying to do it to others.

Yes. Just watched 14 commercials all of which were predominantly white people.

That being said…I find it beyond bizarre that any grown adult would be upset because commercials Oh wait…given the people who are upset I guess I’m not surprised.

So you're defending a lack of diversity, inclusion and equity, or are you just taking shots at us?

Considering there was a time when blacks weren't allowed to portray themselves in entertainment I am ok with it, so you guys can dish it out but you can't take it.

Asking people to utilize lessons they have learned or identifying concerns they have and contrasting that vs their own policy positions isn’t “taking shots” at anyone.

I understand your concerns here but this is being largely done by corporations trying to gain more customers — they already have the white crowd as customers and have suffered no backlash by going heavily after other demographics (except trans people that is).

But imagine for a moment if this was a public policy being pushed by politicians to erase white people in school books and libraries how that would make you feel.

The same people upset by commercials (I am guessing mostly boomers because who watches commercials anymore?) — are the same ones actually pushing said narratives.

It is both sad and ironic

    While watching the Pats/Jets game…the commercials…
Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes pushing Verizon iPhone 15
    Local furniture store, white owner
    Local tire company, white owner
    Auto insurance
    Betting app
    Covid vaccine
    Political ad for DeSantic
    Local news station
    Papa John’s
    Charles Schwab
    MGM betting app
    Bud Light
    Frasier
    Yellowstone

No reason to lie. And I’m certainly not creative enough to make up all the above. I think it says more about you that you assume I would lie ;)

edit…finally saw one commercial that had no white people, for a Wingstop. So one out of 15.

Want to hear something funny? l worked for Walmart and they had a series of training videos to show employees about how NOT to deal with problem customers. One had a white Walmart employee dealing with a black customer who was pushing her buggy with her two kids inside (black of course). Later the video changed with the white Walmart employee trading places with the black customer. But they didn't change the kids. So the white customer then had two (very)black children.

Who is doing what to others? This sounds like the kind of paranoid thinking taught by CRT.

When white people, particularly white males... Are portrayed in advertising they are often portrayed as bumbling buffoons or subservient betas or some sort of transgender or homosexual. Or of course, as just an evil racist individual...

When white women are portrayed it is often being portrayed as a mixed race couple.

    And here it is folks.....

The typical liberal attitude of revenge against white people.... It's your turn now you white bastard you!

And the sad part is that mentality is largely fostered by white liberals who evidently think they will be spared in the coming ideological Purge.

They are nothing more than useful tools that will be thrown under the bus whenever the moment is appropriate

I would probably feel like I was making something up because I would be.

No one is trying to erase anyone except maybe the advertising executives

I thought it was important to follow, "All men are created equal". So you explain who is doing what to whom?

    1. This is not “woke” but standard advertising
    2. You are not thinking internationally
    3. It pays off
