Sure would. It's called "free market competition".

If government insurance was so awesome, people wouldn't have to be forced into buying it.

I did think that through — because that shows all members of mankind are not created equally.

Since you are now moving over to fairy tales, which god are you referring to? Zeus? Ra? Flying Spaghetti Monster?

Or is it the christian god that killed the entire planet minus the ones that fit on a boat, murdered the first born, justified rape and impregnated a minor?

Can you identify where the sexual content of “And Tango Makes Two” is located that would have placed it on the “restricted” list? Or “My Two Dads”?

@Steve N Feel free to answer as well.

This is one of the reason I am kinda saying you are getting what you have given. But you don’t seem to be thinking it’s fair this round.

Looking at your prior comments on right and wrong — I will take that to be the upmost example of someone being correct.

    Cheers

I did so after seeing the OPs claim. I made sure to pay attention and wrote down all of the commercials. So THAT is why I remembered them all. Because unlike the OP and most others on this forum, I back up my claims with actual details.

I'm guessing in today's political climate where agendas are being pushed to the max on people that book and that tv show can be seen as living on the edge of those agendas. The funny thing is if the left's agenda wasn't so out in the open that book tv show would not be a problem like Three's Company back in the day, or Soap. Think of it as there was once a thriving advertising (not on TV) and gun sale agenda, that now is also banned, no more buying guns through the Sears catalog.

And I think you mean to say And Tango Makes Three.

I just reported what I ACTUALLY saw, versus what you want to see because of your hate. That you’re upset over minorities being in commercial says everything about you as a person. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

times change, used to be able to buy cigarettes in vending machines too

even the covid crisis choose to make smokers go out and buy cigarettes vs allowing them to be delivered - ironic that smokers were the least likely group to be hospitalized

There is a noticeable change-as a kid it was all white folk save perhaps for Aunt Jemima and a few similar brand mascots. Game shows had whites and blacks going back at least 40 years. Now, advertisements often have mixed race couples or gay couples. Game shows have a plethora of gay or lesbian contestants. I don't ever recall a male contestant talking about his husband up until say about 10 years ago. None of that matter to me. But to say there isn't a conscious effort in the MSM is also inaccurate.

Which goes back to my original point about representation

Why do you feel it is important to have white people represented in advertising but also feel it is ok to remove representation of diverse families or same sex couples from books?

    Yay for strawmen!!!

No, I am just noticing a significant overlap in the people that are upset about whites not being equally represented with the people that are cheering other types of representation being limited.

It's not remotely a straw man because every one can go back and look at your post where you asked a general question of white people

I am white, all my family is white but none of us that I have discussed this with have ever felt under-represented. We just don't seem to care much.

The reason you don't recall men talking about their husband up until 10 years ago was perhaps because it was illegal for two men to marry up until say about 10 years ago. Anyway, who even watches commercials anymore. I just DVR everything and fast forward through them.

there were open gay marriages long before ten years go. True, the USSC didn't wipe away all the state bans until 2015-the plaintiff is from my home town. IIRC, it was about 20 years ago that some states recognized gay marriage completely. However, some recognized "civil unions". A lesbian I knew well in law school was on the cover of newsweek (I think , not Time) for her "civil partnership" in California. I believe that was about 30 years ago-she graduated in 1985 and had been with her partner about the time she graduated.

These civil unions weren't really marriages though as any rights stopped at your state line. There was no federal recognition of them. Anyway, not trying to go off to far onto a tangent. It was just something I felt like being noted that same-sex marriage is a very new thing in culture still. I don't really care what advertisers do. They apparently see value in targeting certain demographics today that may be different than the demographics they targeted 20 or 50 years ago. Programming itself is almost as bad. Many would rather land an ad on a TV show with 50K tween girls than 250K 50+ viewers and it isn't always for the obvious reason. They are conditioning these tween girls so they buy from them when they are 23 not today when they are 12.

I'm not against SS couples in books, and if you recall, my sister and two cousins are gay, so I hold no animosity towards gay folks. I don't feel SS couples in books should be in schools because it's part of an agenda. If parents want to buy those books for their kids at home, then I say go for it.

When it comes to commercials, many of them can be made with just one person in them. So when I see a commercial for hemorrhoid cream and there's a black husband, white wife, and the two kids are Asian and Muslim, that's when I know virtue signalling is at play and it's really not needed.

Have you noticed when commercials show high school or college football players in their ads, and right now none come to mind, the players are always black? New Mexico State U has a calendar of their football team hanging in my doctor's office, and while waiting for him to see me I thumbed through it, same with their basketball team, and every month featured a black player in a city that has just 4 black people, maybe less.*

*I'm exaggerating, but the black population here is very small and the ones I meet are polite and don't have a chip on their shoulder.
