Yes, US citizens have started to die. Right now, the number of deaths is still few, and from the news stories I hear about 1-3 US citizens die every month or so, from US tourists in Mexico, to US consulate workers, to border control agents; but there is a constant stream of deaths and they are increasing in number and frequency. Some of them may also have crossed the border into the US -- our national forests have become farms for illegal plants guarded by armed men who will kill you if you make the wrong turn.

I have also heard rumors that the mysterious, brutal home invasions and murders that have happened in the past few years may be drug or cartel related. And I have heard from my own town that our signs are being vandalized by the logos of a cartel or cross-border gang particularly known and infamous for their brutality and violence.

So yes. Americans are being terrorized and there is a growing threat that if or when the US does act openly against the Drug Cartels in Mexico, then America will become a blood bath as these enemies surround us and can come out of the woodwork anywhere, or plot devastating attacks like we saw in Iraq and Afghanistan, but in our own malls, cities, and suburbs.

Drug Cartels are primarily focused on their turf wars and intimidation on the police and their government. Hell they kill them.

In the USA the Mexican drug cartels would not need to go through that level of violence, as politicians and police will bend over to take their money and kiss their Bee-himes just to stay alive.

But realy, the USA is their #1 customer and they will not cut off the hand that feeds them. After all where would they easily get weapons and ammunitions to kill?

America is there gravy train, and there is nothing going to make weed leagal here. Drugs is the indrect form of forigen Aid to Mexico. See Stoners are have good forigen policy too. LOL

I live in an Ultra Rural Area of Far-Northern California (Eastern Shasta County) and I saw 8-10 Cartel Henchmen(Growers) at one time (At Top of Switchback to my Subdivision by the Government Issue Mailboxes) in Dirty 4x4trucks having a pow wow , needless to say I did not stop for my mail that day.
