Tis true there have been reports about Bakhmut being surrounded .. which is because for quite some time Bakhmut has been close to being surrounded. I didn't see any reports saying Bakhmut being completely surrounded until recently .. the reason for this being that Russia has now captured the only road left in an out of Bakhmut, cutting of the supply line - a strategic disaster.

This is bad news as even if the troops left in Bakhmut want to retreat -- they have no paved road to do so .. and because has been raining would have to trudge on foot through the mud .. wide open to artillery fire. At the same time .. Ukraine is running out of Air defence .. Russia starting to use more air power .. and now using bigger bombs - such as the FAB -500 .. your trench is not going to help you when that thing hits.

Not sure why you are talking about Kherson .. has nothing to do with this issue .. a different world in a different place in time in a land far far away.
