    Alright.

Wondering what skin she has in the game here, other than being an ardent MAGA type, blindly loyal to the failed former president.

    Let's put this in perspective.

The Trump civil trial is not in her district.

    Trump is not a constituent.

Seems to me this is Stefanik weaponizing her positron to prosecute in favor of Trump alleged criminality.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/do...omplaint-judge-engoron-trump-trial-rcna124554

WASHINGTON — Rep. Elise Stefanik, the House GOP conference chair, has filed a judicial ethics complaint against the judge presiding over the New York civil fraud case against Donald Trump, accusing Judge Arthur Engoron of “weaponized law fare” against the former president, and calling on the judge to recuse himself.

Engoron had exhibited “clear judicial bias” against Trump, including by telling Trump’s attorney that the former president is “just a bad guy” whom New York Attorney General Letitia James “should go after,” Stefanik, R-N.Y., said in a letter to the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct. She said the judge had failed to honor Trump’s due process rights, concerns that she said are exacerbated by the former president’s position as the frontrunner for the presidential nomination.

According to Stefanik the judge failed to honor Trump's due process rights, concerns she said are exacerbated by the former president's position as the frontrunner for the presidential nomination.

She is actually saying that Trump's rights are more important that someone elses rights simply because he is running for President.

Stefanik is a Looney Toon who very few people take seriously.
Definitely jumping the shark to full delusion with this filing.
Stefanik is a full-blown whackjob who makes MTG look stable...

She's probably hoping to be in the running for Trump's VP pick. This ethics complaint is signaling her loyalty to him.

Definitely (already) on the short list:
Elise Stefanik. The New York congresswoman from upstate New York has undergone a political transformation from a mainstream Republican who worked in the George W. Bush administration and on campaigns for Tim Pawlenty and Paul Ryan before getting elected to House leadership and morphing into a prominent Trump apologist. The loyalty from the House Republican Conference chair can’t be lost on the former president.
If elected, Stefanik, who will be 40 on Inauguration Day 2025, would be the third-youngest vice president in history. John C. Breckinridge became vice president (under James Buchanan) at 36 years old and Richard M. Nixon became vice president (under Dwight D. Eisenhower) at 40 years old. Stefanik would be younger than Dan Quayle (41) and Theodore Roosevelt (42) when they took office.

    I have to disagree.

Meanwhile, I don't see any urgency with respect to the government shutdown looming in 7 days. My guess: Johnson and Stefanik are among the types who WANT to shut it down, no matter the cost.

Habbahabba claimed Trump was part of a "protected class". :roflol:

'He's Just A Bad Guy': Judge Slams Claim That Trump Is Unfairly Singled Out In AG Probe

    Mary Papenfuss
    Thu, Feb 17, 2022·

    snip:

'Attorney Alina Habba had argued that James was discriminating against Trump over his politics — and that he was part of a “protected class” that should be legally safeguarded from her investigation.

Habba argued that Trump was being discriminated against for his “viewpoint.” (Trump has called the investigation by James, who is Black, “racist.”)

James has “such disdain for this person because he was president, because he is Donald Trump and he could probably win again in ’24,” Habba argued during the hearing. “He has First Amendment rights. He’s allowed to be a Republican.”

Engoron responded: “There’s no viewpoint discrimination. I’m just saying there is none.”

When Habba claimed Trump was part of a “protected class,” Engoron responded: “Ah. What protected class is he a member of?”

His political speech,” Habba replied. “If he was not sitting as a Republican and was not a former president who might run again, this would not be happening. So she is discriminating against him for that.”

The judge and his clerk pointed out that protected classes include race, religion and sex.

“Donald Trump doesn’t fit that model,” Engoron flatly declared. “He’s not being discriminated against based on race, is he? Or religion, is he? He’s not a protected class,” the judge added.

“If Ms. James has a thing against him, OK, that’s not in my understanding [of] unlawful discrimination. He’s just a bad guy she should go after as the chief law enforcement officer of the state.”

After the contentious two-hour hearing, Engoron wrote in his ruling that when a state attorney general begins investigating a “business entity, uncovers copious evidence of possible financial fraud, and wants to question, under oath, several of the entities’ principals, including its namesake,” she has the right to do so.'

It's interesting that you ignore the content of her arguments and instead choose to attack her character. People who are confident in their position don't typically do that.

Whose rights is Trump violating and how was he doing that? Hint: you don't have a "right" to prevent someone from saying your name in America. That's the only thing I can think of. There's no victim in this case.

What are her arguments....I mean...the meat of her complaint, the details, not the broad brush garbage.

Her letter was only a few pages long. It's worth the read. The crux of it is that the judge is showing bias in a multitude of ways including:

    - Told Trump's attorneys that Trump was "a bad guy" before the trial started and didn't recuse himself.
    - Refused to send the case to Commercial Court where the case belongs and they have expertise in these issues.
    - Ignored an appeals court order regarding statute of limitations.
    - Implemented an unconstitutional gag order.
    - Undervalued Mar-A-Lago claiming it was worth ~$20 million while refusing to allow the defense to call in an expert witness (leading real estate expert in the area), but allowed the prosecution to call an expert who undervalued the property.
    - Told Trump's attorneys that he "wasn't there to hear what Trump had to say" after forcing Trump to take the witness stand and getting detailed answers he didn't want entered into the record.
    - Told Trump's defense attorneys "they better not" file motions they are legally entitled to file.
    - etc.

The case has been a **** show from the beginning. He unhinged.

Nah. You are not allowed to just make stuff up to fill the 'etc' box!

Really? Do you have appropriate legal qualifications to make that call?

This woman is looking to carve out a permanent residence on Trump's ass so she never has to go far to kiss it. Does she even have her own thoughts?

I didn't bother reading your full post because it's blatantly apparent you haven't read her letter and do not understand the basics of this case. They have appealed and filed motions. That is why any judgement against Trump in his court will not be the final say. They're going to fight it. And some of this is not appealable at this time, but they have been adding filings to the case protesting his behavior and decisions which can be used for future appeals. If they let him run over them without filing motions they lose the opportunity to appeal on those grounds. That's part of why Engoron demanded they did not file certain motions to dismiss. In the meantime He's the final say on some of these issues until a verdict is set. So he's basically doubling down on his corruption because he's completely corrupt. But, an appeals court can evaluate some of this in the future.
