“The United States has a wealthy, partisan elite class that’s not only immune from and numb to the problems of their countrymen, but enormously confident in and willing to impose unpopular policies on them.

This is a recipe for disaster.

The problem is starkly illustrated in a new survey Scott Rasmussen conducted on behalf of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, which divided respondents between elites (people with at least one postgraduate degree, earning more than $150,000, living in ZIP codes where the population density exceeds 10,000 per square mile) and the general public.

Rasmussen also recorded the responses of a subset of elites — “super elites,“ if you will — who graduated from a few prestigious private universities, including members of the Ivy League, Duke, Stanford and Northwestern.

It’s near impossible to behold the results and not acknowledge they’re indicative of a fundamental disconnect between two Americas.

That disconnect should be of as much concern to proud aristocrats as it is to the peasantry….”

Too much freedom in America? That’s what the bi coastal secular progressive urban establishment elites believe.

The wealthy establishment elites and their secular progressive left friends are so out of touch with ordinary Americans and yet so eager to try to control us and limit our freedoms.

They are clueless as to the suffering and problems of the American working and middle class yet are totally ready to impose their views upon us and limit our freedom. Read the linked article by Isaac Schorr, a staff writer at Mediaite to see the extent of the wide gulf between the attitudes and beliefs of the elites compared to us normals.

Clueless is right. I saw a video of Biden being totally shocked that a cup of coffee costs six dollars.

Lucky the world of elites is extremely small and the one we live in is extremely huge. I think there are only about 12% of Americans with a postgraduate degree and once we add your other criteria that number would probably shrink down to less than 10% of the population. Not even Trump would meet the "elite" requirements you set out. He only has a bachelors.

That is probably because he is not an elite. He only has undergraduate degrees. I think his wife has a doctorate though so she may qualify for an elite if she meets the other criteria.

Isn’t Biden a lawyer? That requires a post graduate degree. Obama and Biden were willing tools of the elites they are a part of.

“A stunning 77% of elites and 89% of super elites support the “strict rationing of meat, gas, and electricity.”

Seventy-two percent and 81% would ban the use of gas-powered cars.

Fifty-five percent and 70% would prevent Americans from engaging in “non-essential” air travel.

Oh, and 47% and 55% believe the government affords Americans “too much freedom.”

Predictably, the rest of the country would be appalled to hear what this group would do with absolute power; the percentage that would agree to any of those measures lies between 16% and 25%.”

    Not according to google.

"He earned his bachelor's in 1965 from the University of Delaware, with a double major in history and political science and a minor in English."

It is kind of sad when you started the post and set the parameters for what is an elite and then you change it to meet your needs. Kinda sounds like an elitist thing to do. :)

This article has some info on Biden law school days.

WASHINGTON (AP) _ Sen. Joe Biden claimed during a campaign appearance in New Hampshire last spring that he finished in the top half of his law school class, although records indicate he finished near the bottom.

''The first year in law school I decided I didn’t want to be in law school and ended up in the bottom two-thirds of my class and then decided I wanted to stay and went back to law school and in fact ended up in the top half of my class,’' he went on.

But last week Biden released his law school records showing he had graduated 76th in a law school class of 85. The law school transcript also showed he made little progress in class standing through the three-year course, ranking 80 out of 100 in the first semester of the first year, and 79th out of 87 the second semester of his second year.

. I set nothing. The polling simply shows the chasm that separates the beliefs of the establishment bicoastal secular progressive elite and super Elite from the rest of us. Obama is super elite while Biden is merely elite.

You appear to be correct. Joe Biden did graduate with a JD. I am really surprised. I guess he does qualify for an elite based on the criteria presented.

I wonder what the ratio of non elite urban secular progressives would be in response to those questions?

Dude - you are literally supporting a guy for President who lives in a multi-million dollar home on an island where they have valet service at the
grocery store. The locals who live on the western side of the intracoastal, call Palm Beach Island, "Alcatraz", cause the inmates are surrounded by walls and guards and they don't mix with general population. You're supporting a guy who hasn't set foot on a commercial flight in 40 years, and rents women
as wives until they get old, and then dumps them. You're supporting a guy who buries his ex-wife on his golf course to get a tax break. And you have the unmitigated gaul to claim it's just the left that is filled with "elites"? Holy crap. Talk about cognitive dissonance.

You created the thread, presented the topic and the article that defined what an elite was. You set the parameters for the discussion. When it appeared that Biden was not an elite, (I found out I was wrong and he does have a law degree), you changed the narrative to still make him an elite. You tried to change the rules to fit a narrative. That is what I think elites do. They change the rules so they always win.

The rift isn't just economic, a lot of the older very wealthy and powerful are amazingly out of date.

They still think all the economy needs is another big war because the planet is over populated.

By the definition from the article he is not an elite because he only has an undergraduate degree.

I don't have the statistics for this but I almost think more republicans would be considered elite than democrats given the parameters above. A lot of democrat have masters degrees or doctorates and go into teaching. Even college professors make somewhere around $120K on average. The people that would make over $150 are probably people with MBAs, medical specialist and JDs. Probably a significant percentage of them vote republican. It seems the majority of MBAs I know favor republicans.

And you are treating them as if they are some super group who are in a position unobtainable by most. People with degrees are not aristocrats. They were not born into it they worked for it.

The number of actual elites may be small, but the number of people who ape their positions because they are elite opinions or think they are elites is quite high. There is such a thing as "elite overproduction," in which our educational institutions are producing people with degrees that far exceed the number of jobs available to them. The coffee shop employee with a BA for instance. They are not elite in any meaningful way but they think of themselves as such.

A prime example of an elite who has no idea of how the people live is John Kerry. He’s spent his life marrying rich women for their money. He started out marrying one who was worth $4 million. He dumped her and got new one who was worth $500 million.

After getting super rich Kerry started flying in his wife’s private jet that generates lots of CO2. One of his excuses is that he flies around in his wife’s private jet. He goes to world forums where he sells average Americans down the river in the name of climate change. His excuse is that he buys “carbon credits” to make up for his hypocrisy.

Recently this world class hypocrite has announced that he is leaving his climate change post to run the Biden reelection campaign. This 80 year old elitist can't retire from public life fast enough for me.

It was you that was wrong here. I know what he’s worth and that he’s got a law degree. It’s his whole lunch bucket Scranton Joe that’s the fraud. He’s an elite and you were wrong to deny it.
