Interesting. But a single event with specially designed and equipped vehicles with large support crews isn't real life, is it

I didn’t ask you to “follow” it but since you have claimed to be an engineer, if memory serves, then I thought you might be interested in the construction since some of that is aerodynamics etc etc etc.

It was a rhetorical question. Many "fact checkers". have ulterior motives.

Duh! Try the phrase “component technology”. I watched the video and some of what they are looking at is reduction of drag. Massive impact on the broader racing field

Like you said, they've been doing this for 30 years.

    Old news.

    As you wish.

And each year there is a change in the rules meaning the specs have to be upgraded even to enter. A lot of innovation from this race has already entered the automotive industry. Why do you think so much money is pumped in?

Ahhhhh! But if the “science” is as reliable as green moon cheese the Kuhn does not apply. Did you even look at any of the sites I linked to where they deconstructed some of the more outrageous furphies?

Somehow I doubt that any significant innovation from this race has entered the automotive industry. These vehicles are novelties. They don't exist in the real world or face any of the challenges inherent in the real world.

Money is pumped into it for the same reason it's pumped into NASCAR- advertising.

    Your denial is showing again.
I select the items I use. I'm uninterested in defining furphies.

That is because we are talking of the Stuart Highway - one massive road cutting the continent. Take it from me - there is more dirt road out there than you can deal with - most of it covered in “bulldust”

This seems like wasted money. Electric cars, if they do make sense, make more sense in higher population density urban areas, and are less pragmatic in rural areas with sparse population and vast open spaces and distances.

Why are they spending money to try to implement electric cars in rural areas? This seems like a waste of money right now.

Bowerbird, this is yet more proof that the policymakers pushing these electric cars are not really thinking logically.
