Scotland doesn't have the English head of state as its monarch. England has the Scottish head of state as its monarch, and has done since King James VI of Scotland came south and took to the Throne of England as King James I of England in 1603. Since then you could say that the Scottish monarchy reigns over England.

Not only that, but Elizabeth II is a direct descendant of Mary, Queen of Scots, NOT of Mary's cousin, England's Queen Elizabeth I.

The monarchy is more Scottish than English.

The English don't want to be a republic. We tried being a republic before and look what a disaster that turned out to be. No, a constitutional monarchy is much more preferable (and cheaper) than a republic. Queen Elizabeth II is much more preferable than President Blair, President Brown, President Cameron or President Miliband. A monarch as Head of State is much more preferable than a politician as Head of State.

 

Nonsense. Her mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, was Scottish. Her mother's father - the Queen's grandfather - was Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, KG KT GCVO TD.



Not only that but she was born at 17 Bruton Street in Mayfair, which is in the City of Westminster in London. And that's in England.
