Ex-CIA chief admits he got spies to write false Hunter Biden laptop letter to 'help Biden'

The NY Post has put out an article that says that former CIA acting director "helped Biden" during Biden's Presidential campaign by organizing 50 colleagues to sign a letter in October 2020 falsely claiming that damning emails from Hunter Biden's laptop (published by The NY Post) were "Russian disinformation".

For those not aware, emails found on Biden's son's portable laptop computer (which he absentmindedly left behind at a motel, allegedly after a cocaine binge) contained some communications that didn't make Biden look good. Probably nothing that is solid enough evidence to be able prosecute anyone in court, but it makes it look like corruption was going on (presumably connected to the Ukrainian Burisma scandal, when Biden was Vice President under Obama).

Again, for those who are not aware (or do not remember) all the mainstream media channels were incessantly yacking on and on at the time about how these accusations were just "misinformation". The media propagated a theory or narrative that the Russian government had a role in propagating misinformation in the U.S. during the election.

Since that time, even CNN has had to rather quietly admit that the Hunter laptop story was legitimate.

To be fair, this isn't entirely the "biggest scandal" (referring the ex-CIA director organizing signatures for a latter making a false opinion statement). This man was no longer officially working for the CIA by that time. But this was a high level person and his words carried weight. As CIA analyst he had served the presidential daily briefer to George W. Bush.

Michael Morell has now told the House Judiciary Committee that Antony Blinken, the current Secretary of State, was the senior Biden campaign official who contacted him three days after The NY Post published an email from the laptop which suggested Hunter had introduced his Ukrainian business partner to his father, then-Vice President Biden.
Morell said that before Blinken's call, he had no intention of writing any statement exonerating Biden.

 

Of coarse he's only admitting this now because Republicans have taken over the House, launching investigative hearings, and he was subpoenaed, put under oath and forced to talk.

 

If Joe Biden is implicated in anything related to Hunter's business dealings, during his time as VP, it amounts to a "High Crime and Misdeamenor" offense and he should rightly be impeached. The charge should be treason. Although the code about treason seems to only apply to acts of war part of its language could be interpreted to where an enemy of the United States is given preferential considerations over our interests affecting National Security.

This comes from a letter signed by Jim Jordan, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary, Michael R. Turner, Chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and several other high-ranking committee members.
They have published it on the official government website (the Judiciary Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives).

The Committees recently conducted a transcribed interview with Michael Morell, a former Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and one of the 51 signatories of the public statement. In his transcribed interview, Morell testified that on or around October 17, 2020, you reached out to him to discuss the Hunter Biden laptop story. At the time you served as a senior advisor to the Biden campaign. According to Morell, although your outreach was couched as simply gathering Morell’s reaction to the Post story, it set in motion the events that led to the issuance of the public statement.

Morell testified:
Q: But, prior to [Secretary Blinken's] call, you - you did not have any intent to write this statement?
A: I did not.
Q: Okay. So his call triggered –
A: It did, yes.
Q: – that intent in you
A: Yes. Absolutely.

Morell further explained that one of his two goals in releasing the statement was to help then-Vice President Biden in the debate and to assist him in winning the election. He testified:

Q: What was the intent of the statement?
A: There were two intents. One intent was to share our concern with the American people that the Russians were playing on this issue; and, two, it was [to] help Vice President Biden.
