Looks fun. I don't know. I didn't preorder it because I fell for that when I preordered Aliens: Colonial Marines.

However, everyone seems to be having fun playing FO4 so I went down to the local retailer to buy it (it's well over $AUS100 on Steam so screw that) and they didn't order enough PC versions (they have shelves full of console versions) and they said that they might be able to get copies of the PC version next week at the earliest.

    I hate everyone.

It has all the standard flaws of a Bethesda game that should always be expected from them (ancient engine, low res textures, horrible consolized UI, lack of simple options, etc), but yeah, I'm having tons of fun with it too.

However, I do want to say that I get more angry at them for each game they release. They've been guilty of the same basic flaws in every game (since Morrowind in 2002), it's like they're just trolling us now by refusing to fix them. And it's not like it can't be done, because they always get fixed by the community with mods. In fact, for their next game, they need to just start fresh with a new engine - in computer years, Gamebryo is like a Model T.

PC version was released with bugs. Had to become a BETA PARTNER to update it before it would play. Still have problems loading it. Now being a Beta Partner means Steam has access to my computer at all times. (*)(*)(*)(*)ing bull(*)(*)(*)(*) software providers. Are they hackers or are they providing a service as promised for the dollars I gave them. Oh yeah sign here and here and here do you acctpt the terms / click here. FY Y F B

Oh yeah its a decent game when you get in.

I've developed a little friendship with a barista at Starbucks who tells me he is taking the next 8 days off to buy and play Fallout 4. He tells me it's his favorite game ever and that he wears a t-shirt that says "I'm Pretty Respected in the Wasteland" (or something to that effect) when he plays the game. Not a e-game player myself but I'm glad to see people enjoying themselves.

Not to venture too off point, just a comment on this. Most Starbucks employees are part-time so they can limit the benefit packages including vacation time. I would seriously doubt Starbucks offers 8 days of PTO (paid time off) to any of their baristas who are normally part-time.

I'm guessing he lives in his parent's basement if he can afford to not work for 8 days (unpaid) to play a game.

Opiate of the masses = video games.

Apparently it's sucked in an entire generation who have chosen the blue pill to real life.

The video game industry has a clever marketing strategy to always promote the next big thing...it's like heroin.

This season it's Fallout 4....when that game is saturated and players burn out from devoting thousands of hours to it...another game will appear on the horizon with equivalent hype.

I'm all for video games...I think there is a tremendous amount of artistry and creativity put into them and as a form of entertainment it has no peer as even watching sports, tv shows and movies is more passive...

    However....

    in moderation...

I could not conceive of taking time off from work to invest in a game that will be there in the evenings and on weekends to play.

Work should be a priority...it pays the bills.

Anyway, sorry for going so far off-topic.

    Enjoy.

For anyone who wants to enjoy life, work should never be a priority. As the saying goes, "I work to live, not live to work".

When I played video games it was for the competition and the cash.

I hated anything other than competitive really.

I was making almost as much as I do now playing video games, and I got to travel.

So how did I take the blue pill when I succeeded in reality and video games simultaneously?

Nope, he's full time. I've been going there for years and he's been with Starbucks longer than I've been going there. I know he doesn't want to manage the joint and I know he's 30-35 and has his own house because I helped him pick one out. He could be ex-military for all I know. Seems like he might be. Oh, and he bounces at a club on weekends. Other than that, I don't ask too many questions.

There are worse opiates. This generation of drone pilots and Patriot missile jocks is coming from video gamers.

There are probably tens of millions of people who play video games...only a fraction can earn enough to make a living. There are professional skateboarders too...but most skateboarders will never be pros.

Most of us..and yes I play video games (flight sims) will never make a living at it. We play as a diversion and entertainment.

When it replaces genuine human interaction and priorities...for example work...then its a problem. It's no different than a porn or drug addiction.

If you're good enough at games to be a professional at it...that's a little different than most who will never earn a dime from it...which I venture to say is probably 99.9% of video game players.

There's no doubt in my mind however..it's a blue pill activity.

It's escapism...that's not to put it down...but when I crawl into a virtual cockpit of say a Soviet IL-2 and go against someone in a FW-190...it's make believe. We've entered a World of electrons and pixels...at some point inhabiting the World of flesh and blood....should take precedence.
