Jeremiah Wright... now where have we heard that name before? Very sad story. Police should cut up the father and put his head on display.
If killing someone was a legitimate solution to the problem, he wouldn't be convicted in the first place.
"Killing" doesn't all fit under the same blanket. There are innocents, and there are murderers. Crime...Punishment. No need for someone like this to remain alive and in our society. He confessed, now lets show some expediencey and put him down.
This happened about 45 minutes from here and was all over the news yesterday. It's still hard to hear and hard to imagine how a father could do such a thing. Thankfully the mother did not have to see her child's head on the sidewalk because it seems that was the father's intention. I can't even process what a mother would do with seeing such a thing, it's just that unimaginable! As a mother, I hope this man dies a cruel and punishing death. He is not human.
Nobody has suggested any answers to violent crime here. Some people have suggested "putting down" a murderer exactly because they have no answers - violence is often a response to helplessness and fear. I was just pointing out the irony (potentially dangerous irony) of suggesting this murderer should be killed because "there is no need for him to remain alive".
With each new day's news, William Blake's poem, The Second Coming seems more and more prophetic. The first stanza pretty much characterizes the modern world in general and more and more it's becoming a word painting of America.
Well if you get in to a discussion with a "lefty", you can ask them about that. I'm just a realist who doesn't see any benefit of the death penalty but understands the psychology behind the cries for it in response to unspeakable cases like this.
You dont think this guy deserves the death penalty? Do you think this guy can be rehabilitated? Did you know its gonna cost us $35,000/year to keep this guy in prison for the rest of his life? How can you not see the benefit? Leftys have their priority's backwards.... They have no problem slaughtering the innocent, but the guilty need to be saved.... WTF??
The couple benefits I can see off the top of my head are that he will never kill anyone again, which cannot be guaranteed wiht a prison sentence, and of course the savings. Noone needs to spend the money to keep this guy alive and well for the coming decades. Just those alone are enough IMO.
You don't need to be insane to do something like this, you just need to justify the action in your own mind. Terrorists are not insane just because they are terrorists. Sadam Hussein was not insane, nor Hitler or Stalin. He confessed. So go through the motions of trial and execute him within a month of conviction.
There are times when to not deliver justice by the ultimate penalty is unjust. This man needs to die. Sadly it cannot be a painful slow process.
Does anyone "deserve" to be killed? If so, where do you stop? Anyway, is it necessarily a punishment? Maybe he'd welcome death over having to live with what he did. I've no idea if he could be rehabilitated - I only know what's in the linked report. It's perfectly possible though. I gather that, in the US at least, death row inmates cost more than those with life sentences. Killing people to save money could be a dangerous president to set anyway. All those feckless unemployed some people keep complaining about probably cost the state even more than $35K a year... So no, you've yet to convince me of the benefit of executing this man or serious criminals in general. I'm still not a "lefty", I do have quite an issue with "slaughtering the innocent" and I'm not concerned about saving the guilty but about saving the innocent who would succumb to their urges to kill them.
The dudes got no redeeming value, at all. He cut his kids head off in the kitchen sink. F that guy Did the kid not clean his room or what?
