Trump's only tactic is to delay. Even his pathetic defenders have nothing to offer. He's hoping he can win the election and that is his ONLY chance to avoid the consequences of his actions, and even that may not work.

So if Trump had requested a trial date of August 2065 then to be impartial the judge should have set a trial date in the mid 2030s?

Trump's request was insane. Not to mention that Trump had been warned that if he couldn't keep his mouth shut that the judge would be inclined to set an earlier date rather than a later date.

He’s being treated like any other defendant. It makes him sad.

If anything, he's being treated with kid gloves.

you would think if Republicans thought Trump was innocent, they would want to get this out of the way as soon as possible

Especially since they constantly tell us that the trial will only increase his popularity. If he's convicted, that will increase his popularity. If he's exonerated, that will increase his popularity. If Trump supporters were honest (and they are no more honest than the "man" they support), they'd want a speedy trial.

You would think that a speedy trial would end up with him being exonerated and extremely popular. He’d be President for sure!!

And they say that even if he was convicted that it would help his campaign. It's win-win. If they were really telling the truth, the only way he could lose is by the case not coming until after the election . . . which is what Trump is fighting tooth-and-nail for.

Maybe, just maybe, there’s something to these charges. And it’s making the Orange Pimple nervous.

That would explain why none of his "defenders" are actually able to explain why they think he is innocent of any of these charges and instead have to resort with lame "It's only political" lies.

There’s one poster in particular who comes up with cockamamie theories like “the GA case has no jurisdiction” and “the PRA allowed Trump to keep those records because the res ipsa loquitor and res judicata are aligned.”

That there is equal parts funny and true... although it doesn't make the case for pushing for a speedy trial....

To build on your thought, if there's uncertainty, that will increase his popularity the most

The last thing any MAGA wants is a resolution.......... to anything.

Fanny and Alvin are going to have to wait until after the DC trial is completed. That might be a long wait.

Your inability to spell her name correctly only shows your fear. Meanwhile, if this trial goes according to schedule, it will be concluded before the election, which the only thing you fear more than you fear Willis or spelling her name correctly.

Well clearly there is no election interference going on with the persecution of a former president who is running again against Biden and his court dates coinciding with dates pertaining to the election.

Not nearly as much as we are seeing Trump supporters fear the concept of the rule of law. Not even close.

From what I read from MAGAWorld, "the election" is every day between 11/4/2020 and 11/4/2024....

    Not much wiggle room there...

As my granny used to say, tough toenails...

I think it is possible Trump's legal team might be able to petition for an extra month, at best two, I am sure they will try anything and everything to push it back, but with the others wanting a speedy trial, the odds are unlikely. That said, I have no doubt those in the early trials they will point the finger at Trump.
