Sometimes, you have to admire mr Paxton. He certainly likely understood that making the age of majority not the age of carry in TX would be challenged. And passing the law in 2021 with the age limit was likely a canard to ensure that federal review of that standard was then reviewed and changed to age of majority. Sometimes, it actually is the details. Good on Paxton.

I'm hoping in the next couple of years they challenge the NFA and the GCA.

Democrats keep talking about adding 'assault weapons' to the NFA registry.
They won't actually do this, however because they know that will put the NFA before the USSC.

The NFA should have been challenged a long time ago because a right can't be taxed.

The idiotic NFA is clearly unconstitutional and cannot survive an objective strict Scrutiny challenge

Bruen overrides strict scrutiny and replaces it with something better.

the lower court didn't use anything close to strict scrutiny IIRC. none of those idiotic lower court decisions-such as the one Judge King issued about 10 years ago in the Maryland matter, used anything essentially more rigorous than a bastardized "rational basis" bit of bullshit

    Hi, Wild Bill Kelsoe.

The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America places no age limit at all on the right to keep and bear arms. There's nothing 'magic' about 18 years of age. Or 5 years of age, for that matter.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n un-shot.

The Constitution of The United States says 18 year olds are adults. Nice try, though

The second Amendment, which is what I was noting, doesn't mention 'adult'. It specifies 'the people'. I'm to assume that a 5 year old isn't a person? That would get me in deep trouble in certain areas of the country. ;-)

    Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n un-shot.

The Constitution makes 28 the age of adulthood. You can't pick and choose

    Hi again, Wild Bill Kelsoe.

I don't. I just read the words as written.

If you are correct, most, if not all of the states are in violation of the Constitution by permitting people under the age of 28 to purchase and own firearms. The military issues firearms to those under 28.

Oh my! Fancy that! The phrase 'Hoist by one's own petard,' comes to mind.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n un-shot.

    Hi, Rucker61.

Am I to assume the poster was incompetent to proofread what he/she typed or was unconcerned with accuracy? Either way, I can no longer assume what the poster states is correct.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n un-shot.

    Hi, Wild Bill Kelsoe.

    Thank you for your reply.

The fact that the Second Amendment makes no reference of 'adult' remains. Also, the 24th Amendment, in which the age of 18 appears, is specific to the right to vote.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n un-shot.

18 is the age of adulthood in all 50 states. Therefore, restricting 18-20 year olds from possessing a firearm is unconstitutional.

None of the amendments in the Bill of Rights mention age. Are we supposed to believe that a law can be passed that says the 1st Amendment only applies to persons who are 21 years old, or older? What about the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Amendments? They don't necessarily apply to people under the age of 21?

I think it was obvious that you meant 18. If one reads the thread, the intent is as plain as Biden's senility
