Or maybe if your citizens were actually armed instead of those five being killed in the mass stabbing, maybe zero would have lost their lives.

You pull out a knife or a gun; and one of your armed peers pull out theirs and plugs you before you can murder 5 of your neighbors.

Too bad the 5 people killed before the cop showed up didn't have the same chance to save themselves.

 

Thats only because there's not enough armed civilians. They used whatever means they had. You dont need a gun to try to protect yourself. Guns don't make self defense possible, only more effective.

Nope. I want everyone to be able to choose to defend themselves or not. But clearly waiting for the authorities to show up with their guns isn't a reliable method of defense.

 

Dunno. How many of the 5 stabbed to death would still be alive if any of them had a pistol?

How many thought, as the attacker was stabbing people, 'I want to stop this guy, but how?'

 

And yet even by American stats almost twice as many shooters were disarmed by unarmed bystanders than armed bystanders

 

But to be able to defend yourself with a gun it must be at hand. You cannot use it if it is in the car or under the bed or……

 

We have a lot of people that unfortunately don't choose to exercise their right to use the best option to defend themselves (and those around them).

We also have a lot of 'gun free zones' where people are prevented from choosing to use the best option to defend themselves (and those around them).

Guns make self defense more effective, but only if people actually have them when they need them. Kinda like cops. They don't do any good when they're not at the scene of the emergency.

 

Exactly right. A gun in a safe is just as useful as no gun at all.

 

You really have bought the whole NRA mythos haven’t you? So, following your logic all people should be armed 24/7 yes?

 

I don't tell people what to do. It would be nice if more people carried their guns with them more often to help defend society from unpredictable violence. Its way cheaper than having cops everywhere, and way safer than not having cops everywhere.
