Sure income between the rich and poor grew, but so did jobs. Which is one reason the bigger tax cuts for the rich. Reagan knew that the rich create jobs and they did under Reagan, around 18 million. But so did income of the rest of us. As a matter of fact, Blacks made out quite well under Reagan's economy. You will notice that it kept going up under Clinton and Bush. Much of that was also helped by NAFTA and Free Trade and all those good paying factory jobs lost.

I could see your point if Reagan gave big tax breaks to the rich and smaller ones to the rest of us, if jobs weren't created and wages stagnated or went down, but they didn't. Millions of jobs were created and wages went up better than they did under Carter. The cost of borrowing also went way down.

Democrats complain on low paying jobs and the need to fix our infrastructure, but then what do they do? Give jobs to the Chinese to fix our infrastructure, because they don't want to pay American better paying wages.

The Chinese contractor has already built seven schools in the US, apartment blocks in Washington DC and New York and is in the middle of building a 4,000-room casino in Atlantic City. In New York, it has won contracts to renovate the subway system, build a new metro platform near Yankee stadium, and refurbish the Alexander Hamilton Bridge over the Harlem river.

I remember once I argued with my Dad at what a crook Jimmy Hoffa was. Dad said, I don't care what he gets as long as I get mine. That's like Reagan, yes he made the rich richer, but the rich created 18 million jobs for people who didn't have them. Brought up wages and cut the cost of living. Can I complain the rich got richer when they gave us ours?

Ah, I see. You claim wealth was redistributed, but no one actually redistributed it.

You know what redistribute means, don't you?

Typical conservative 1% apologist response. The fact that the 1% are now getting 20% of the nation's income and have 40%, double from before the Reagan "trickle down" revolution, "means absolutely nothing".

Until someone proposes reversing the "trickle down" laws and policies that helped redistributed so much of the nation's income and wealth from the middle classes to the richest.

Then they go apoplectic. Over "nothing".

We had jobs and economic growth before 1981 too. That didn't result in the richest getting a bigger and bigger share of the nation's income and wealth. Income inequality started skyrocketing many years before NAFTA was passed, much less implemented.

    Something else happened in 1981.

Reagan gave big tax breaks for the rich. Meanwhile, under his tenure, FICA taxes the working middle/poor classes pay increased over 20%.

We had trade with other nations before income inequality started skyrocketing in 1981.

    Something else happened that year.

Foreign contracting didn't suddenly start in 1981 when income inequality started skyrocketing.

We had jobs being created before and after 1981 when income inequality started skyrocketing in 1981.

Why would some one in particular need to manually do it? I've explained many times how it was done.

    Sure.
