The government, in their infinite wisdom, decides what a lot of us can and can't do, think seatbelt and helmet laws, banning large sodas and happy meals.

    Steve explains it well.

I'll add one thing by asking, wth is the rush to change one's body parts? It's irreversible.
We are seeing some kids coming forward regretting their original decisions. Decisions made with their overzealous parents' help, I might add.

It doesn't work or improve the life of the "patient".

What's the ratio of those with regret to those with none. Nothing's an exact science.

More the reason for children not to be rushed into something so drastic that the outcome is not reversible.

If 13 year old is mature enough to taken seriously that he's in the wrong body, then a 13 year old is mature enough to be tried as an adult and sent to an adult prison.

Do you have any training in medicine or psychotherapy or are you just an "everything" expert.

The bottom surgery is not very common, at least not judging by what I see on Tiktok. I wouldn’t do it, but I don’t know I want the state telling people what sort of approved medical they can have.

They're generally not rushed. It's a very lengthy process.

Except in this case that's exactly what they're doing and not for the reasons they're stating.

Expound on your point. I'm not sure how it relates to my words above.

That is not possible considering how the child processes information. At that age, they process information through the amygdala. Around age 25, information is processed through the prefrontal cortex, allowing them to consider long term consequences.

Lacking the ability to judge long term effects, the child has the most to lose, and the least influence.

I believe what the medical profession with years of research tells me is the best of their knowledge to date.

Is having a baby a life altering decisions that we allow minors to make?

I agree that telling children they are an abomination and will burn for an eternity for feeling how they feel, does not help them improve their life. Neither does telling them they were born defective and require drugs and surgery to "fix".

In both cases, parents have good intentions. We need to stop imposing our beliefs on children. How about telling them they are perfect just the way they are and allow them to mature before making irreversible medical decisions?

That's already the case for all medical care for kids though. Yet we don’t ban anything else.

What approved medical treatment is outlawed? Other than abortion in red states of course.

Minors shouldn't be making life altering decisions.
